    Thanks for the video. Tip for others: if you have the American 2.0L EcoBoost model (like Titanium trim) for the 2018 Escape, it'll be a 15mm socket for the oil pan, and 9 screws holding up the underside cover: 4 front, 3 back, and 1 on each side. The screws are still torx 30. The oil filter is also in a way better spot, closer to the bottom and facing down. Just did it yesterday 🙂

    Good video, i recomend always taking the oil cap off BEFORE draining the oil. Ive known people who drained their oil then found out they couldnt open the hood/ undo the oil cap and they were stuck waiting for a long time.

    Thank you! First time changing on this vehicle and was having a heck of a time finding the plug and filter. I wish Ford put an access panel like Jeep does on the Cherokee to avoid removing the entire cover.

    Thanks for the good video. I had mine done at a dealer in sandy springs, GA. After a few days I noticed the matt covering the bottom of the engine was hanging down. It was missing a couple bolts. Now I'm going to try doing it myself.

    pull the dipstick out, which helps with the draining of the oil.

    I'll never understand why engineers feel the need to unncecessarily overcomplicate such simple things... WHY TF do you need two different tools to remove a plastic undercarriage protector?

      Could they have put that oil filter in a more awkward spot? Jeesh.

    How does taking the oil crankcase cap off cause the oil to drain faster ? Something to do with air moving through it ?

    Hi Adrian, I see you use 5w 20 oil. Do you think 5w 30 isn't right for this engine?
    Here the dealer recommends 5wc20 but my user manual reads 5w 30.
    What's the correct oil do you think?

    • @briancondon7767
      @briancondon7767 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It should say it on the oil fill cap on top of the engine. If it doesn't I would go with what the manual says but otherwise I always trust the cap

    Hey i have a 2017 ford SE AWD ECO BOOST Engine just wondering like have you ever done a FRONT PT UNIT OIL CHANGE just looking for a bit help or maybe a video on what to look for? I know they recommend changing it every 30,000 miles just wondering if you have a video on it.

    • @Domenshow
      @Domenshow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glenn, I have not done that yet, but will hopefully update with new videos as the service intervals come up

      Change your PTU fluid every 10,000 miles or less. That PTU is sandwiched between the exhaust, the transmission and the catalytic converter. The PTU holds about 1 quart of fluid that gets baked by the heat of the three pieces of equipment that surround it. I change my PTU fluid when I change my oil (every 4000 miles).

    Great video but it just pisses me off that these auto makers are making it more and more of a pain in the ass to work on your own vehicle...

    There is no need to flush or include any additives. Because it is synthetic oil?

    • @Domenshow
      @Domenshow  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jamin, no need to flush anything through the engine, doing an oil change while the engine is warm to try and get as much of the oil out and any sludges or particulate. I do use synthetic oil as it is what is recommended and especially being a turbocharged engine.

      For sure, was one of my first tries at filming and didn't notice the lack of focus at that point, I will make sure to show it in better detail the next time around, appreciate the comment!
