Good points. I would add that your country's high humidity-temperature combo is not only affecting the on skin performance, but also the fragrance in the bottle - even if not used like your father's Fahrenheit 32. There are mainly 3 stages when it can go bad: shipment, retailer storage and consumer storage. During shipment, no utility van or big truck has AC in the back storage compartment. Temperatures there during sunny days can reach +50 °C. When at the retailer, if it sits in a deposit it won't have AC, so +30 °C most of the year; if it sits in the store, AC will be on only during the opening hours ~12 hours at best. At the consumer's house the same thing: nobody uses AC when not at home when at work for example, and few use AC during sleep, so most of the day +30°C. And that's only the high temperatures. Add the humidity and the spoil chances go even higher... Cheers!
Greetings, Joy! I started collecting in 2010/11 and now have about 120+ bottles. I have never had a bottle ever "go bad" yet. Ive had a handful like Polo Black and Versace Pour Homme where the top notes are slightly muted but otherwise smell identical to when I bought them in 2011. I have stored them in my bedroom closet inside a cabinet, luckily the coolest and driest room in my house. I have about 20 ml left in 150 ml bottle of YSL Lhomme Libre which I bought in 2011 when it was released. Just smelled it...smells just as good as the day I bought it. I am skeptical that fragrances ever go bad before 15-20 years, if at all, IF stored properly. Thats been my experience in the last 14 years💯
Hey Joy.. It would be interesting to see a review on Maceration and how to Macerate fragrances. Some say put fragrances in the refrigerator.. Some say to shake your bottle before using.. Some say to leave off the cap and others say leave the cap on... Some say to spray a few times and then store it in a cool place...Some say to spray it 30 times and then put it back in the original box. I believe that review would be interesting and helpful at the same time. Thanks my brother.
spray 10 times to get air in bottle and store for 3 months max. I have noticed changes within a month. Not all fragrances macerate. My Azzaro Pour Homme and Versace Dylan blue got stronger after doing this.
Ramadan Mubarak, brother Joy! May God extend to you the blessing of good health and much barakah and aafiya and reward you with paradise for your patience with your health in this life and for all of the happiness you have spread through your perfume journey.
1. Keep bottles in a ziplock bag and press the air out. 2. When you have less than 25% left and you don't want to use it up immediately, decant it into a smaller sprayer
Thanks for covering this topic. My hope has always been that fragrances could last indefintely as long as they are stored properly, but I guess this might not be the actual case. 🥴
I've collected over 120 bottles since 2010 and have never had any bottle "go bad" yet and I have 7 or 8 bottles from 2010/11. I think consistent storage in a dark, cool, dry cabinet has worked wonders for me over the last 14 years.
I had several bottles for over 10 years and they continued working until I used them up. Back then I would only use a few sprays, so they lasted a decade. I now spray them all over to get better performance and because I know each bottle has about 1,000 sprays worth. LOL
Ive got a bottle of Creed Milliseme Imperial that has gone bad. And some types of fragrances more easily go bad. I have an old bottle of Dior Eau Savauge EDT from the early 2000's that has gone very flat compared to my newer bottle. A citrus oriented frag seems more susceptible to top notes going than a heavier type frag. I have many vintage bottles of 1989 Tiffany for Men from the 1990's and 2000 and many of them have turned top notes that smell like fingernail polish remover. But after just a few minutes after spraying the scent settles into its normal profile and the fingernail polish remover smell subsides. So the turned juice is but a minor nuisance at wirst, sort of like a patina. I have this huge flacon of old Guerlain Equipage juice maybe 30% full and its totally gone. The flacon is nothing more than a paperweight. So it varies. I think the "shelf life of 4 to 5 years" refers only to retail shelves in terms of selling. But very long viability of fragrance juice is a real thing, otherwise the market for vintage fragrances wouldn't be so robust.
There's currently a bottle I'm wanting on eBay of a long discontinued fragrance that claims to still smell great and the seller has 100% feedback and is a decently old account, I'm not sure what to do because I want it really badly
I have fragrances over 10 years old smelling good as the first day. Keep them out of the bathroom and away from light and heat. They will last many years
I think my Ferragamo Uomo is gone. 2020 batch and it was in a warehouse for 4 months before I got it so ig that done the deal. Feeling so bad. I heard it is a strong one but it is lasting around 1hr then skin scent
they don't use chemicals to keep fruits fresh... they are genetically modified to not develop those compounds that make them go bad.. and, generally, they have way less nutrients as a result
What i need to know Joy, if i buy extra bottles and i keep it in the box, does it go bad if it doesn't get any oxygen? If i want to use it after 10, even 20 years i mean?
I think fragrance manufacture already understand what kind of perfume will be gone bad. Bcs I collect miniatures, usually only had usual cap to close. But the one, that my 100ml gone bad, they put like additional plastic cap oloser in their miniatures, perhaps to make more longer lasting, and it works. So I assumed, they already noticed, which perfume that will be gone bad soon.
I feel that certain type of ingredient that made become bad. Like Pleasure by Este, Burbery weekend, any condition, after 5 years above will be gone bad. Minotoure , Roma by Laura B had similar smell, and both gone bad. Yes after above 10 years. Other could last more than 20 years, an still good.
Joy brother, I'm sorry but I have to agree with the people saying to take care of your health. You are sick all the time brother, you are spraying too much in the room. Please check in with doctor for your safety

It varies. Based on my experience as a vintage frag lover.

@@DocRock71Very good to know. Thanks for sharing your personal thoughts and experience.

You are always sick. You should spend more time on your health, not on perfume. You may be allergic to this huge number of fragrances in the room...
Allergic to the huge number of fragrances in the room? Dude… 😂😂😂
the virus is in Romania too, Joy... I am not unable to work or something like that, but it's an annoying cough

Thanks for doing the video mate. I thoroughly enjoyed it 😊😊😊

What if i have back up bottles that i didnt open yet ? Are they can expired too if i didnt opened it yet?
can't go bad if not sprayed as they are vacuum sealed when bottling

It's fine
Being in a warehouse is the perfect condition to keep it so it's not that.
@@MrBrownstone1 it’s a beast now. I just needed to use it and let it sit.
Awesome 👌

For me minimum 10 hours longevity is a must
how old is the mancera??
You took a big one hahahaha! What’s next? Nautica Voyage, of course. The bathroom will be fresh again in no time.

If you want to be extra safe also put the entire box in a fridge plastic bag and try to keep it at constant temperature.
I use a cool box for example

Joy you need fresh air in your room, don't spray where you sleep

you are the 'unhealtyest' person i know
High humidity will cause fragrances gone bad faster

The Thumbnail! 😂👌
That thumbnail 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Hey man why this coffin picture on the profile of this video man why?? Why?? I don't we need to see this
I thinks alluding to the fact that the fragrances have gone bad and have in essence “died,” or are “long gone.” RIP spoiled fragrances. ⚰️ 😢
Bro, sensitive much?
