@@TheMilhouseExperience Yeah but Square Enix owns Legacy of Kain now, and their FF7 Remake was fantastic. That said, I wouldn't want a full remake for LOK. The game is great as is. An HD remaster with some QOL improvements would be fine.
Ahhhhhh now this takes me back to games where you were trying desperately to get the baddie to follow you but their A.I. was all like "No way." Good times.
I think Dumah wouldn't follow you to places that didn't lead to that incinerator room, so that was probably intentional. But yeah, I remember so many games from that time where you had to babysit NPC companions, because they'd get stuck on every single corner or rocks, randomly ran off and despawned, or jumped into their deaths.
Yea his pathing was all sorts of janky for some reason. The fight itself wasn't hard at all. I kind of wish, though, that maybe you fought Dumah in more of a straight up fight instead of the puzzle-style like the other boss fights. Then again, combat in Soul Reaver was rather rudimentary...not fairly deep like in Defiance
@@xWelshlad92x I just got a new PC and Unreal Engine 5. I have a few ideas, but now I'm more interested in seeing how well I could remake one of the areas in Soul Reaver.
When I was a Kid took me a lot of time to figure it out how to beat this boss. No internet, no youtube, no guides, you only had your own brain, no one can help you.
Oh i remember the struggle, I stumbled across the spectral realm dialog Purley down to accident. Like in the video I fail hard at the statue puzzle and all you had to do was run around it 😂
There were those video game magazines that came out that had tips and tricks. Ironically, I think one of the most famous ones (at least among me and my friends) was called “Tips and Tricks.”
Yea I feel you there. Same thing happened to me and I'm sure countless others. I remember attacking him with one of the stakes thinking I needed to impale him again. Nope. Not even the Soul Reaver or the Fire Reaver worked. Nothing did. Took me a good 20 minutes of letting him chase me that I put two and two together
I LOVE legacy of kain series. But I remember when I was playing my mom used to get so annoyed with the sound of hours of raziels feet running. Lol she's kinda right, they do overpower all the atmosphere sounds lol
Actually if you leave dumah to far behind you basically if you run to incinerator to fast he won't follow you all the way & return to the throne room even if you go the right way also you can't do it in the spectral realm but I did forget about that secret spectral realm cut scene
He does seek vengeance upon his brother but he still has respect for him. He wouldn't kill him in such a cowardly fashion nor would he leave his brother impaled like a pig by vampire hunters. The game is quite genius actually.
Raziel needs to destroy him to consume his soul (real and Spiritual soul), he resurrect him because "spiritual soul" was trapped (the game explain you at Beggining, with first dumahin hunt)
He couldn't kill him. All of Raziel's brothers are so powerful that direct attacks do nothing. You have to use the environment and in this case the incinerator. I doubt it had much to do with respect. He probably just saw no other way to get Dumah there except by reviving him first. Come to think of it, the humans who impaled him probably couldn't even find a way to destroy the body. That would explain why they shackled it.
The fact that the soul reaver himself had a hard time with dumah and that wr know it was a vampire hunter who impaled him...... let's just say he must have been one badass human
His arrogance and surprise attack (the game tells you indirectly, dumah thought was invincible...like a god, but "humans" Probably defeat him like you see in the Game,so poetic)
man! nostalgia! though i really hoped i would fight Dumah in the spectral realm - a change instead of fighting all the time in the material realm. (and getting Dumah to chase you was a pain!)
Oh yeah he was a bit of a pain just to get you to follow him at the best of times even when you take him to the furnace the only time you don't want him to follow you and he's always right behind you lol

Has anyone ever noticed that in soul reaver 2 & defiance raziel don't have his brothers constricting power no more is it because developers where lazy or because dumah was dead & had to. Be resurrected it would have been fun to use it on enemies even if they couldn't think of puzzles for it
Actually, the constriction power was a way the developers got to overcome the PSX engine's limitations which not allowed Raziel to horizontaly spin objects. This was solved in the next generation console, so Raziel kept only the powers of three of his brothers.
the game is good but the camera movement is terrible sometimes game breaking . i played the game in 99 for the first time on ps1 still great game with very poorly aged camera movement
If you think so, you can find halo's "actual" music in a game from 1998. "Myth II: Soulblighter" had it's soundtrack made by "O'Donel and Salvatori", who I think did halo's. Search for the so called "epilogue" ending cutscene of "Myth II".
I lost an hour, lured him to that place but the door was locked. Watched this video to see that door blasted open... Figuring it out with a monster behind your back was close to impossible. This whole level is designed to question your sanity. Bad camera doesn't help either
Only Kain's and Dumah's voices; Tony Jay did The Elder God and Zephon, Michael Bell did Raziel and Melchiah, Richard Doyle did Moebius and Tomb Guardian (The Turel stand-in), and Neil Rose was Rahab, and finally Anna Gunn was Ariel and seemingly her only role in video games.
Are you on about the secret sequence only triggered by going into spectral realm? If that's the case, most people seem to find it out by accident like I did when I was a kid
Dumah's statement "the centuries in limbo have honed my strength" doesn't make sense. Because total lack of movement would cause your muscles to atrophy not strengthen
Raziel states at the very beginning of the game "Kain would enter a state of change and emerge with a new gift. Some years after the master, our evolution would follow", and it has been stated that the vampires enter a state of pupation, where they are in a sort of suspended animation and they eventually evolve and become stronger. I'd hazard a guess that vampire physiology is much different than human, in that when the pupate, they still become stronger (physically and spiritually) even though they are not moving. I'd hazard a guess that when Dumah was defeated and impaled, he could have entered a forced pupation "stage" while his soul remained trapped in the spectral realm, and he therefore became more powerful. Does that make sense?
This game was only limited by its technology.god it needs a remake
