  • how to remove the auto levelling headlight motor on a Lexus is200.
both sides have the same motor/part. mine are both seized up due to rust. I believe they got moisture inside them through the plug when I disconnected them for a few years due to the axle sensors playing up. both axle sensors have now been replaced with Toyota Camry ones (I think, was a while ago) and they work (dash light not showing any error), but the motors are too far gone due to the rust.
off camera I was able to pull apart that motor and spray it with grout cleaning spray, it's basically a strong acid from the hardware store, and remove a lot of rust from the simple internal motor. after it was cleaned and dried I reassembled it and reinstalled. it worked somewhat but not the best as the range of it's movement was very limited. so I have ordered replacement motors and will install them once they arrive. they are used but fingers crossed.
of note, when reinstalling them, you'll need to clip the motor ball end part into the light. I've yet to do this as it likely requires the headlights to be removed to access the port at the bottom side of them. to remove the headlights you need to remove the front bumper. I'll give it a crack one day when I have spare time.
