Ok. Henk was one of Floor's childhood heroes. She was fangirling the entire time. Henk learned to growl for this performance just for Floor. So yeah, she was genuinely stoked by it. You can see in Hernk's face at end that he was surprised by the power of her voice. The also have another live version from Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. She goes harder on that one.

He didn't learn to growl, he learn to sing with distortion...
Henk threw in the growl as a homage to Floor's being from the symphonic metal genre. He played the Phantom in the Netherlands for years and was Andrew Lloyd Weber's favorite Phatom.......he was also one of Floor's idols growing up.

Henk Poort is a Dutch singer born in 1956. Poort's major roles include Erik (the Phantom) in the Dutch version of The Phantom of the Opera and Jean Valjean in the first staging of the Dutch version of Les Misérables in the late 1990s. He also sang as one of the "17 Valjeans" at Les Misérables: The Dream Cast in Concert.
Beste Zangers (English: The Best Singers (of the Netherlands)), is a Dutch reality television show.
In each series a number of well-known performers take turns as the central artist in the hot seat that gets honoured by the other artists by singing songs that are of significance to that person. It can be a cover of one of his/her own songs, a song that inspires the artist in the hot seat or something from his/her past.

It's a Dutch show called De Beste Zangers (The Best Singers) These Dutch singers of different musical backgrounds spend like a week in an Ibiza resort and every day they maken a new episode in which they all sing sings to one of the individuals. The band existing out of some of Holland's best session musicians is totally epic.

I was lucky enough to see her live at Pinkpop last year (both solo and with Nightwish). She did this one with Henk as a final song.... F-ing legend!!
I sent you an email about 10 days ago with info on Floor on Beste Zangers and what the show is about. The links I sent allow you to catch the back story to each of Floor's performances. She was the first singer the first night for Henk ... sang in German, later episodes she sang in Spanich, Dutch, and of course English. I've heard her sing in 8 languages it's amazing. She works hard to ensure that when she takes on a language she sings it properly. The "audience" are all singers who are Dutch. They take turns performing songs celebrating one of them. The final show is duets. Floor asked Henk (her idol and inspiration to be a singer), he added the wrasp as a tribute to her. He learned it to sing The Sound of Silence on the night they honored Floor. He's since sang with her on her solo tour and a special performance of Phantom with Nightwish ... it was delayed due to Covid-19. They had agreed he would do it when Nightwish was in the Netherlands (Holland ). Shame you stopped it when you did I would encourage you to watch and not stop in the last 45 seconds of a song. Also, if you stop a little more often during the early parts of songs and talk just a bit longer there you are not as likely to be blocked. Though in this case watching you react was great even with the overlay.
All of the others on that show were professional singers! Some are even famous!

Ok, so this is a Dutch show called “Beste Zangers”, which means Best singers or Dear singers. Every season shows 7 artists from completely different backgrounds; singers who were big in the 80’s, very young singers who are doing covers on TH-cam, and everything in between. They all have different genres: Pop, rock, jazz, classical, hip hop, you name it. Every artist gets one episode where the other artist from their season sing one of this artist’s songs, one of this artists favourite songs, or something from their genre. That creates all sorts of wonderful performances. In the last episode, several singers team up for duets. Check more out of this show!
I’ve heard these two sing this song live backed by Nightwish. It was an incredible experience that totally blew me away. And I was sitting far back up on the balconies. Her voice still hit me way harder than watching these TH-cam clips.
If I ever get lucky enough to hear her sing live and sit so close to her I would probably faint.
Nightwish first covered this song in 2005 with their original singer Tarja (who has a predominantly opera style voice) and Marko (bass player) singing the phantom part, and this version sort of uses that arrangement rather than the original one. And whilst Henk is great in the clean parts, he doesn't come close to the pain and anguish Marko manages to elicit when singing with fry and distortion imho. Marko = best phantom ever!

Henk has performed it for decades and is considered THE phantom by the writer. And Floor, well she can do anything. Been singing for a few decades before she made nightwish VERY happy by joining.

Floor has done some true opera: she does a "o, mio bambino caro" in some TV show and in this show she sings "Vilja Lied" from "Die Lustig Witwe" for Henk, because his mother used to sing it for his father when Henk was still a little Henk.

Also The Beste Zangers ( The Best Singers ) They all are singers watching as one gets selected to sing for another selected person a song they either wrote or a song from their favorite band or a song that brings great childhood memories. Example Floor sings the song Shallow from Lady Gaga to Emma Heesters, or Floor sings the song Velja-Lied to Henk Poort a song his mother sung to him as a child.
Henks first time trying vocal fry. He's a classically trained singer, so this is him coming out of his comfort zone and trying something new (maybe inspired by Floor) and only had a limited time to practice. Great reaction.

For me, the nightwish version of Phantom of the opera with Marko and Tarja is by far my favorite.
I heard this live, several times. You are right, it is a totally different experience. This video is amazing but when you hear Floor do that belt live, just a few yards away from her, well, it touches every single cell of your body. Indeed, Floor takes care of herself very well and she IS beautiful.
Nightwish has 3 members who are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen (keyboard), Emppu Vuorinen (guitar), Jukka Koskinen (bass). Troy Donockley (multi instrumentalist) is from the UK. And indeed, Floor Jansen (pronounced as Yansen where the a is like the a in car) is from the Netherlands.

Watch one of the original movies of Phantom of the Opera. The first one was a silent movie in 1925. You would probably like better is from 1943. It's a talkie and in color, which is rare because color wasn't generally used until the 1960's because it was soooo expensive back then.

Beste Zangers (Best Singers) is a Netherlands TV show, Henk Porte is Classical Singer that has plared the Phantom of Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic musical that just closed on Broadway last week after thirty-five years. Floor saw it as a young teen, & was really excited to meet him on this show, & get him to do this song with her. He agreed if he could sing it with her & NW when they came to the Nethlands. That finally happened last November. I thought you guys had reactd to it, if you haven't, please do.

Even better than this. I love your Nightwish live reactions to our beloved band with Floor, and that includes this one. Loved it.
The Phantom was born horribly disfigured. No nose. In the book he was said to have a deaths head, like a skull and eyes that glowed like a cats that were gold. But had the voice of an angel and was a genius. Book says he was an singer, composer, architect, magician, ventriloquist and assassin. He is crazy but we still love him.
FYI, Henk Poort was the original phantom in the dutch production of the Phantom of Opera.
Henk Poort was the original Phantom of the Dutch version of The Phantom of the Opera Musical from Andrew Loyyd Webber. This is a dutch show called Best Singers of The Netherlands, Floor Jansen won this. She was sad Rock and Metal want a thing in The Netherlands and no one knew her even though where ever she walks in many countries she will be noticed especially in Finland where she lives with the band. Metal is huge in many countries and she brpight Nightwish and the genre up in our little country. Know Henk Poort even show up at a Nightwish show now and then.

ohhh snap - so have gone from Hi Ren to B. Marley and Dead Prez to Tom McDonald and now I find Floor killin it - just saw Nightwish Live for the first time 11 months ago in Chicago and now have to check out these reactions with NightWish - also, could be wrong but pretty sure Floor was a bodybuilder when she was younger and looks to have kept that discipline (Note- must check out Phantom live with Marko and Tarja, I think it was Tarja last performance with Nightwish)

I celebrate the reactions of the 40yr old FUQ BOYZ . About the band Nightwish. There are so many songs from them that are worth seeing and hearing. E.g. The Poet and the Pendulum, Ad Astra and more. But if you want to see something really epic with depth, then check out "The greatest Show on Earth (with Richard Dawkins) official live" with lyrics. Here the lyrics are essential as music and theme are an interplay.
