Thank you for showing the collection of gowns. I haven’t been there for awhile. This was always one of my favorite exhibits. I never missed it when I went to the Smithsonian. I haven’t been there in years.
Love seeing all the dresses. I believe they were there in 1982 when I made my one and only trip to DC. I went to keep my aunt company after she brought her daughter to DC to work in one of the Smithsonians for an internship. Another cousin lived in MD but worked as an Executive Secretary to the WH. She wanted to show us the WH at Christmas with all the decorations. We actually went in through the back door of the WH. It was pretty cool to do that plus see all the trees in each room. That was a once in a lifetime chance for me.

Thank you for sharing the beautiful gowns, place settings etc. The short video clips of the presidents dancing with their wives was a nice touch. Gotta hand it to you.....an excellent choice on a soggy day. My sogginess is not rain. It is a mix of everything ending with lots of snow. I keep watching "one last video" to put off shoveling, ugh! Stay warm and dry. You have shared enough top notch entertainment for us today. I don't want you to catch cold!

Yea, it's pretty dark, but the dimmed lights are design to reduce the fading on the dresses. Some of them are over 100 years old and they'd be kind of meh if they had a spotlight on them all day.

I would have loved to have seen some of the very early Soft Paste Porcelain China in the "Sprig" Pattern that was used by a very early President or possibly a few, possibly by George Washington himself. I collected a few pieces 30 years ago and it is hard to find and old. If you go back sometime, I would love for you to ask them about it!! It was before a Presidential Family could choose their own Pattern which has now become the custom. Hillary was asked to return the Clinton's China and more things that were "packed" up. It made the News... The dresses were very nice to see and I would have loved to have seen Mary Todd Lincoln's Gloves, if they were there. She loved her gloves and gave many as gifts, like P6 does!!

1st lady dress collection both saddens and disgusts me...knowing what the govt has been doing to its people. We cannot be celebrating any of this.
