Nothing's more frustrating than cutting open a motor...only to find aluminum. = \ Here, aluminum breakage...$ 0.12 a pound...#2 copper...$3.00 a pound. Course, with the aluminum wound motor they are paying for the stator as well...but still. Copper is king. Nice garage set-up for scrapping.
Thank you. Yeah it's a bummer but most end up being copper. I'd guess we'd get $3.60 for #2copper - price today is $4.19. That is definitely the best metal.
I've tried to pull the rubber sleeve off just so I don't have too much slag to scoop. A lot of them end up in there though. It burns up fast. I have some nice bars made from those.
@@SkullerMetals do you ever use borax with brass? the first time i did a brass melt i over cooked something. there may have been zinc stuck to the crucible too. it was a shit pour but one out of three turned out ok. im doin brass again next cheers
I have one other one I still have to scrap out. Not sure if it's the same or not. Hotel up here doing some remodeling and found these 2 by the dumpster. Always a good score.
Love watching you always❤❤❤
Great video nice scrap thanks for sharing skuller metals
Just scrapping!
Left you some goodies in the box. But no copper 😮. Keep doing it buddy
you should be using copilot to write your descriptions it works great
29:50 first time seeing that done i always throw them in electric motors. not any more I like how you did it
@@ScrappingwithGrandpa Thanks! Usually some decent copper in them.

when you save up brass connectors that are coated or wrapped in plastics, do you just chuck them into your crucible or do you strip em first?

Man that Ptac is a strange brand... it's put together way different than most others. Good stuff in it though.

@SkullerMetals yes, love them... if you melt copper that has steel on it... can you just scoop the steel out?
@thescrapmeister for sure. Brass is even easier because steel floats to the surface. Easy to find.
