I have a Quest 2 and start steam through the Steam Link app, I do not get that "cog" and things look much different for me inside Steam VR, like my panel do not show a setting for "Desktop" that I have to use to start "OVR", so have I done something strange or have it change over the last year? Btw, this was a helpful video for me, so thank you.
Thank you i will have a look, at thos toggles. I was going into the off sets menu every time i started games that required it. So it will definitely help knowing i can just load straight into the game and toggle rather than mess about trying to adjust the offset every time. Have you played half life alyx and if so what button would younadvise a remap to the toggle for? :)
I’ve been using steam vr on vrchat for a while but now when I use it and try to pull myself it looks glitchy when I do it snd I tried everything but it won’t work is there a way where I can reset my ovr?
Just a question since im a little new, do you need a link cable for OVR? Or can you launch it through vr? I was gonna ask cause im not sure if people are having link cables to use OVR settings and im just really confused basically like pc/vr or is there another way also just a question how do you launch steamvr on oculus?
Sorry about the late reply. TH-cam not telling me. You don't need to use a link cable at all. You use virtual desktop, steam link, or air link to play pcvr and use ovr advanced settings with steam vr games that allow it :)
Hello, I'm using a game on Steam but I can't open OVR once in the game so it's impossible to adjust the height of my character. Do you have a tip? thank you nice video
Hmm. Do you launch SteamVR first or do you launch OVR Advanced Settings and have that launch SteamVR? And what game was it? I may be able to figure it out if I have it. Also, there are sadly games on Steam that can be launched in SteamVR but then it closes it in favor of something like OculusVR and that will also close OVR Advanced Settings or WalkinVR as they are dependent on SteamVR in order to work.
@@DewdyDoes I tried both, start steam vr then do with OVR nothing happened then the opposite, the game does not take into account as you said. the game is called PST PRIMARY SURGICAL TREATMENT. Thank you again for your quick response
I saw your reply and tried some things with the game since it is free. I started up OVR Advanced Settings to open SteamVR and then started the game. I worried at first because it showed Vive wand controllers, and I use a Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop or link cable, but it was fine. OVR Advanced Settings and the height offset was working without a problem. I did try WalkinVR as well to see, and it can also work, but the only issue I ran into with that was that the button needed to drop items in the game was the same as what is used to bring yourself up or down so it conflicts. I'm stumped on what could be causing the issues for you.
@@DewdyDoes I use a quest 2 with the cable too, do you use Virtual Desktop Dashboard on steam? I launch the game via Steam VR or OVR and I can't open the settings to modify and if it works sometimes with one or the other I adjust the height but it doesn't save. I'm going to use wilkin VR too, anyway thanks again man
I go through Virtual Desktop on the Quest 2 and then open OVR Advanced Settings from the stream client to get into SteamVR. And with WalkinVR, keep in mind that the Y button on the left controller if set to raise and lower your height won't also let you drop items in that surgery game. They seem to cancel out. I hope it works out 🙂
@@jordynhudsonmorris sometimes some games will launch in oculus mode, and even if you press the three line button, it still doesnt show up with the SteamVR menu!
Are you talking about the offset? You can turn it off by un-checking the box next to it. Lemme know if that isn't the setting you're talking about.and I'll try to help more.
Sorry I'm just now seeing the notification for this comment. How is it blank? The video seems to play. The game that I was in when recording for some reason refused to show properly, but I still felt since the menus could still be seen which was the important part, that it was still good.
Tell me what has been happening and I'll try to help. I've had to stop using VR due to a bad muscle injury so I'm not sure how much I'll be able to do.

Little issue, the menu will not appear.
The menu is there and I can interact with it, but I literally can not see it.

Hmm. I wonder what is doing that🤔 I've never had that happen or heard of that happening. I wish I knew an answer to help
I sadly don't know how to fix that. I've never experienced it or known people who have.
