    I find it interesting Brightline/FEC is building new track from the scratch. Whenever I saw track construction they usually laid down pre-fabricated track segments of like 50 ft length and wielded them together. But maybe it easier to haul just ties and rails to the construction site and make track out of them.

    Nothing says "flat as a pancake" like the State of Florida. Best railroad State in the United States if not the World period so should be interesting to see how well the quality of this build 'passes muster' as they say.

    Excellent update, I was curious what was going on around Melbourne. But I have been hearing a lot of the acronym "CP" throughout this video. What do the letters mean?

    • @kenhanks9620
      @kenhanks9620 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      "CP" short for "Control Point" where sidings, spurs, single track going to double and vice versa, w/attendant signalling for train operations are located.

      @@kenhanks9620 Thanks! I was wondering what the Canadian Pacific railway had to do with the FEC, haha

    Another great video. Thank you for sharing. I used to live in the area and it is strange seeing so many streets that I am familiar with in these videos. I know there is currently no Brightline station being constructed in Brevard County, but has there been any talk of a potential location? Or is MCO blocking these from happening?

    • @RoamingRailfan

      They are currently investigating opportunities for potential fill in stations to add after service to Orlando begins.

    Do you think it’ll be possible for them to eliminate more rail crossings in the future so that they can really increase the speed? I’m guessing that’s the only reason it isn’t fast rn.

    • @RoamingRailfan
      @RoamingRailfan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not likely

    • @dynasty0019
      @dynasty0019 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Considering they will be doing 110 mph through these sections, I doubt there will be a need for elimination of crossings.

    As someone who spends much of his time in colder climates than FL, I'd think you wouldn't need a track-warmer there!

    Happy to note that the god-awful Covid-19 has not deterred the scheduled construction. Go Brightline.

    Sorry if you addressed this in an earlier video, but in the areas where the new ties and rail are lower than the existing rail, will the new rail be raised up to the same level at a later stage of construction, or how does that work?

    • @RoamingRailfan
      @RoamingRailfan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it will be raised after ballast is dumped. The tamper machine raises the track slightly each time it passes over, filling in ballast under the ties in the process. You can kind of see that process in this video: th-cam.com/video/vINzBkK1d-k/w-d-xo.html
