Loved the British sense of humor! I was going to buy a Miata but here in Maine they use road salt and the Miatas just rust out too quickly. Wish I could afford a "summer only" car!
Great car, love those BBS and red interior. What's your suspension setup ? If you've still got the original bilstein dampers with lowering springs, it's gonna be uncomfortable. Think about increasing damper travel with modified top mounts and/or stiffer springs and better bump stops. MK1's are known to engage the rear bumpstops with bilstein.
Thanks very much! I’m not entirely sure on my suspension setup as I bought the car like this, but all I know is that they’re aftermarket coilovers and they MeisterR springs. They are stiff but I think they’re at a nice point where it’s not really uncomfortable and nor is it too soft. Thank you for all the information on that though, I want to look into it more!
I’m entirely sure to be honest. When I bought this the plate was like that already and I have changed it now to offset. I’m sure if you did a Google search there might be some places that do it!
Loved the vid, been looking at getting a mk1 for a while now and hoping this might finally be the year (before their prices go up any higher). Would you ever do a buyers guide kind of video? Things to look out for in your experience both good and bad?
Thanks for tuning into the video 😁 glad you enjoyed it! We were definitely thinking about doing a buyers guide for this year as a lot has changed with these cars since last year. We’ve also got a video going up soon “1 year anniversary with the MX5” so that’ll definitely be helpful. To answer your question though, the main things to look out for when buying of these would be check for rust. Arches, sills and possibly any welding that’s been done. If the mileage is over 55k miles (which is very likely) then make sure there has been a cam-belt change. Also check for any leaks because when I bought mine I noticed a coolant leak after about a week. And then just general things like price, you don’t want to be paying higher than you should be because I’ve seen a lot of these priced too highly simply because people think that it’s worth more because it’s their ‘baby’. We can definitely do a buyers guide video if that’s something you’d be interested in!
@@CarCultureClub the anniversary video sounds good yeah will definitely give that a watch. But yeah I’d love a buyers guide, I know the basics of rust and that but more niche things that only owners like yourselves might know could be good, even little random things like “the electric windows can be temperamental” or “always check the clips on the soft roof” etc. Good point about the prices as well I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on that, only a few months back it feels like I was looking at mk1’s in decent shape for 2-3k and now it seems to be 5-6k for one in half decent condition, if you’re spending 2k you’re expecting rust. Might be interesting to see how you’d value your own and if you had any comments on the current market/things to look out for or avoid in ads online, including different options and stuff that you’d regard as must haves etc
@@fizzypurple5495 you’ve brought up some good points there and we’ve got a buyers guide video in the works now! Regarding some of things you said though, I think generally the prices have gone up simply because it’s a classic and more and more people want one. I couldn’t say for sure how much mine would go for but not very much more than what I bought it for due to the fact that I’ve driven it loads over the last year. Stuff like the electric windows and soft roof clips, these are very minor things but it’s good you pointed them out. Not all Mk1s have electric windows, in fact I think only import ones do which means that the UK spec ones aren’t electric. My electric windows are still pretty good but they sometimes take a while for them to go down! The soft roof clips are very easy to find, there’s a whole website where they sell everything MX5 related from that one single bolt you need or an entire part. We’ll have a buyers guide out soon, thanks for the suggestion and I hope this helped in the meantime
You’d be surprised actually! If I could run the car without a front plate then I would, but it’s illegal here :(. They really don’t like people who change the plate around from factory
@@CarCultureClub Yeah that woild be the best for sure, but for us over on the continent we need to have a metal plate. Looks horrible, ruins so many cars.
Love the style of review takes me back to old top gear 😂 earned a subscriber
Thank you Adam! That’s what we’re all about here 😁
Stiffer then a peado best line I’ve ever heard

Love the Cleremy Jarkson review style. Subscribed.
Bloody hell, this is fantastic. +1 sub
Much appreciated 🙌🏻
Great video, really enjoyed the review. Thinking of getting one of these myself as a weekend toy!
Even tho it seems every other English car TH-camr tries to somewhat rip off the top gear style. I think you do it best 👍🏼
Ahah we will take that as a compliment then! Our style nowadays is much more our own - this video is a few years old now before we rebranded :)
ive got a na mx5 had it for 12 years recently bought a boxster but sold it 6 weeks later...the mx5 was better in nearly everyway
Love your video! I can definitely see some Top Gear influence 😁
This gives of mad top gear vibes, I love it.
What a great video awesome editing! We also have a Mk1 👍
Thank you very much! Enjoy yours :)
@@CarCultureClub thanks buddy
Great video, just bought a mk1 for the summer, the boot space is definitely a problem 😂
Thanks Ben, enjoy your Mk1 you’ll love it 😁 and yes boot space is a problem but it’s not bad given the size of the car.
Getting real top gear vibes. Love it
Had such a laugh watching this, thank you so much!
I think it had meisters on it.
Adjust them to the softest setting and theyd be ok.
Far better than the factory bilstein set up
You’re right they are MeisterR. Love them
This is actually really funny😂
Love the top gear references 😂👊
Legit watched the episode where they reviewed the Kia cee'd and did the exact same thing today
Great car, love those BBS and red interior.

A well done video ! What are these like for insurance?😅
Thanks! Insurance isn’t too bad, mine is around 1.1k with mods declared
Great content yet again.
Thank you very much

Goddamn, the quality of this video is impressive

The quality of the production is awesome! Get a bit of a better mic. I love the top gear style 🤣
Great video. Entertaining and helpful. More miata videos!!
gr8 video! x)
Where can I get a front registration plat that sticks to the bonnet like the car in this video? Pleaee provide links.

You sound like Clarkson's Long Lost son 😂😂😂. Blady brilliant mate
The Clarkson influence is apparent. Good shit 😂
Looks like a decent example of an r-limited. Look after that one.
Thank you, that is my mission!
I have a mk1, the only thing I find hard is, to drive it sensibly 😅😅
100% agree!

The black Audi drivers parking at 2:42
So typical of someone who owns that type of car. Can't park for shit, but more importantly, doesn't care. 😂😂
