I love how her brother said "you're always copying me!" That is the best response from а brother. Also the way her family responded is beautiful! Thank you for sharing your story!

3:39 Hindu religion doesn’t prohibit homosexuality. It’s a cultural issue after multiple invasions of india from European and Mugal nations. Hindu Religion acknowledges all gender identities and sexualities. Also has Gods that are non binary Ardh nareshwar), and gods of transgenders (bahuchar maa). Scriptures also talk about homosexual relations.
Happy for Christina! 🎉, And thank you MIO for south Asian representation!

As a 27-year-old Indian Hindu woman, I can 100% relate to Christina's story. I recently realized I'm gay, but as she said, my family is worried about why I haven't married yet since everyone is gossiping about it. They don't know what being gay means here. I'd say Christina is very lucky she has a brother. If my brother were alive, he would support me in coming out to my family, but he passed away a few years ago.
Thanks, Mal🤍 for bringing representation from our side. It's really great.
I wish I could marry a woman as like Christina one day, maybe in the next life.♥

Hey, kudos to you for sharing it here!May you find your path that you desire 💫I am also from India, living in culture that doesn’t support LGBTQIA’s but we have to find our way to love people who we love! Choose yourself and rest will make its own way…

I enjoyed this episode. As an African I understand how important it is for us to stay connected to our families. It can get tense at times but we would rather keep strong relationships with our families when we come out.
I hope God blesses the marriage & keeps it strong.

Always makes me feel beyond happy to see monogamous relationships between women that are genuine, it's so hard to find monogamous partners these days...

How supportive of her dad to understand “the world will be against me, I don’t want my family against me”. So powerful. Also-cutting a steak with scissors?! Genius! Thanks for the tip 😂

I loved this episode so much and it deeply resonated with me. Seeing out and proud Indians always warms my heart and also picture a future for myself and think "One day I'll also be able to do it". Loved the guest and also appreciate Mal for bringing people from different cultures and it's always a pleasure to hear such great stories.

I deeply connect with the experiences shared on the podcast. As an Indian, we often avoid discussing LGBTQ+ issues, leading to a lack of representation. This forces us to SUPPRESS our identities, resorting to either avoiding marriage or working tirelessly to escape our home state or country. The level of homophobia in India is disheartening, even within families where we lack a safe space to come out. Not a Hindu but despite being baptized Christian as a baby, I feel alienated in this conservative environment (no hate like Christian love). I yearn to leave and hope for a future where I can relocate permanently thats my I am and will fucking continue work my asses off every single day for a better future. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Mal for bringing her, she's giving a voice to Indian women on your podcast and for creating a safe space for me personally❤❤❤

I always worry about eventually having a 'big' wedding with my family involved bc of their reactions/things said in the past about queerness by them all. I've thought about eloping though when i eventually find the right person and absolutely loved hearing their journey and story! Such beautiful representation on so many levels :) lovee it!

2:47 this is so relatable as an Indian. I'm still not out to my parents, they think I'm just not interested in dating, they just don't know about it. And we do talk about LGBT a lot because they're homophobic and i always fight them about it.

There’s movies, start with the classic “Fire.” There’s characters on tv shows, search “Suki and Eve” on East Enders. Etc. There’s not a lot of representation but it’s there.

Ok, there's a whole community of moms who have specific food scissors in their bags to cut up food for their kids when they're eating out of the house! 🤣🤣 She could keep her partners steak scissors in her pocket when they go out for a meal! 🤣😭

      @jonathanbaer9409 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Don't have kids, Who knew? So I guess that makes sense.
But really with a proper steak knife...
Sadly many restaurants go with "Just Good Enough"...hoping customers that won't take them home after the meal.
Real cutlery is worth the investment!

Hi, my name is Michaela MaryAnn Flannigan. I am a trans woman who is attracted to females. I don't know if you would be interested in interviewing me or not. I watch your podcast a lot and I have learned a whole bunch of stuff from watching. When I came out as trans I thought that I had to date men because of how I presented myself. I found out quickly that men were exhausting. Now I am joined with several lesbian groups here in Vegas and I found myself in a crippling truth. Lesbians are Lesbians for a reason. They like women. So I am caught in the middle because I haven't had bottom surgery and I have this crazy idea that no Lesbian will want me because of the "D". I do have a bunch of lesbian friends though. It has been a difficult journey so far and I am still wanting a female partner. I do know that "some" Lesbians are open to dating trans women, but I'm not sure where they are. 😅 I don't want to interview with you to find someone, but to tell my story.

Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
