Thank you, Pierre, for this helpful comparison. You make all the videos you produce look effortless but they all take time and practice. These two sound similar, which is helpful if an adult needs a 3/4 due to physical limitations. Bravo!

I've watched various videos of horn players comparing cheap and expansive horns, sax players comparing cheap and expensive saxes, and violinists comparing different size violins. What I've noticed in all of these: The musicians make the instrucment, that is, even a cheap or undersized instrument sounds good in the hands of a pro.

Thanks for that comparison! I played my full size violin for 12 years, and often thought "why is this violin so big? Wish it could be smaller". So 3/4 size violin is perfect for me. If you are not a pro, then no need to use full size just because everyone else does.

I notice a difference... I think there is more of a mature sound from the full size violin. The three quatre size is lovely but I can hear the difference.

I'm a really small adult, like 5 foot 0 and I'm not sure if I should go with a smaller violin. Is 3/4 too small for an adult my size.

Hi there! You should measure your arm to see if you need a full size violin or not. I'm including a link to our page with a video, so you can see how it's done: fiddlershop.com/blogs/fiddlershop-blog/the-ultimate-sizing-guide-for-string-instruments

It was very helpfull! I feel that my hands are too small and that being closer to my body would make easier to play. I am thinking about coming back to practice and considering a lot to go for a 3/4 size to see if I feel more confortable.

there is no 5/5 size, you might know with measuring your violin body length, 4/4 violin is 14 inch

Sorry, but Fiddlerman never experiments with volume or effects.

In my experience, 4/4 violin always sounds louder compared to 3/4. I am a 3/4 violin player but I always like to try out on my friends' 4/4 violin.

It's the same for acoustic guitar. a tiny body childs guitar is very quiet compared to a jumbo body adult guitar or even a standard body ☺️
