If you’re wanting to learn more about American slavery, there is a somewhat hard-to-find but somber book on the subject titled The Slave Community: Plantation Life in the Antebellum South by John W. Blassingame. It describes the first-hand accounts of enslaved African-Americans, the culture of the era, relationships between slaves and masters, etc. Very hard to read at times, but a profound look into the life of those who had lived through slavery in the Old South.

my go-to for vodka cocktail, a Greyhound: 2 oz. of vodka, 5 oz. or 1 freshly squeezed grapefruit (I prefer fresh, since it's more rewarding for me, personally), then pour both the vodka and grapefruit juice in a Collins glass full of ice cubes, stir (or swirl if you've misplaced your stwizzel-stick [bonus points if you get the reference]), and rim the grass with a lemon and/or lime wedge, and squeeze and drop the wedge(s) in the glass. Simple, the ice cuts the sour of the grapefruit, the lemon/lime rim adds some tanginess that I like, and the vodka is practically unnoticeable. It's great for day-drinking or just to relax with on a hot day
I appreciate your introduction. ✊🏾 I have seen a bunch of your other videos and knew I liked you/your channel. Thank you for the great content as well.
My take on the whole thing is Yes, it is a tragedy, and yes, things need to change, and yes, I totally support and agree with the protestors. With the questions brought about by this avoidable and abhorrent tragedy, I would like to add a few more. How did it help ANY cause to hit my car with rocks and bricks while keeping me from getting to my job at the hospital? How did it help to loot stores, in my case some 20 miles away from the incident, and then vandalize them before setting them on fire? How did it contribute anything to anything by keeping an ambulance from getting to a standing victim in the middle of the "protest" (riot by any other standard)? and once it arrived, throwing rocks and bricks at the EMTs and then trying to stop them from leaving after the victim was in. As I said, I am in complete support of the protesters, but will not support the thugs, looters, handles and arsonists.

In response to the message before the video: things really do feel different this time around. We've been seeing videos/hearing stories of cops killing innocent people of colour for years now, but George Floyd was the breaking point. Thank you for understanding what's going on. We all have injustices in all of our races however, you can't say that you did not see a murder if you looked at that video and you can't say that you don't know that this has been happening for years. So, I commend you Colin A. for standing up to what you see as reality and understanding that this is something that needs to change and not being one of the people who feel as though no one's talking about them so they feel like the whole movement is wrong. For those simple-minded people, if we can make a change with this and use this as our first step, then ALL injustices that happen to ALL races will stop. @Wrong Think Since you probably haven't cared about the issue before, BLM has been critical of police whenever they kill an unarmed person. I was aware of the death of both Daniel Shaver and Tony Timpa along with other white victims of police violence through BLM activists and other leftist sources. I can look up Tony Timpa now and find articles from all of the mainstream news sites from back in 2016 as well as updates when the officers were let off. There are approximately 4 times as many white people in the country as there are black people, so more white people being shot by police isn't too surprising, and it definitely is not an argument against BLM or these protests against police violence in general. Floyd being intoxicated and resisting still doesn't excuse what the cops did to him. By the time he was on the ground, he was not resisting and he did not resist for those last 8 minutes and 46 seconds of his life. Even then, resisting arrest is not a crime worthy of a death sentence. The actions of a couple of criminals has little to do with the broader movement against police brutality. Those perpetrators will face justice unlike the killers of Daniel Shaver, Tony Timpa, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice and many others. What's that syrup added to lemon juice in the first cocktail?
Hey Nick, that last one you made I’d call the Bloody Screwdriver if you’re to change the name. That’s just me.
