In this video, I focus on helping your prepare for the Magic Ears Mini Demo. First, I give some tips and tricks to help you pass. Then I do my own demonstration of the lesson you will teach in your own interview.

@teacherkelly Regarding Magic Ears Mini Demo, some say the recorded demo is better but some articles say,your chances of getting hired are higher when doing a live demo? Which one would you recommend? Thanks
I recommend doing the one you are more comfortable with. You rocking your demo is what will get you hired, not which option you choose. 😉

Where should I make a recorded demo? Their platform does not offer a record option?
The recorded demo is no longer on the platform. You just make your own video using the instructions given.
Hi Kelly! Do Magic Ears require a degree? Do you know of any companies who don’t require a degree? I have TEFL and have homeschooled my three children from preschool to high school and SO VERY want to start teaching English online! I live in South Africa 😊 🇿🇦
Hi! Yes Magic Ears does require a bachelors degree (or at least one in progress). Cambly and Engoo don't require a degree. (Links for both are in the video info!) You can also try Native Camp or acadsoc maybe. 😊

Will it still show all these things like it's showing on your screen, the letters and object etc? And is it the exact same like the moon and Mm so that I know I can prepare props for it

hi teacher kelly, I just applied and was rejected straight on basic information..why this?
That means you did not meet the basic requirements. You must be a native speaker from US, Canada or South Africa, and you must have or be enrolled toward a bachelors degree. 🤔
Hi. Thank you so much for the insightful video. I have a question.. I see in one reply you say one needs a Bachelors degree or be in the process of obtaining one. Well, I am studying toward my Bachelors degree in Teaching and the plan is to graduate next year. However, in all my previous applications, if they ask what's my highest level of education and I say high school, they immediately throw me out, because it's not a degree (yet). What do you advice I do? Do I put in I have a degree and just say in the description I'm still busy? Please advice. Thank you so much 😊 I just want them to at least look at my application before ignoring it because I don't have my degree.
For Magic Ears, they used to have a box to tick for bachelors in progress. (Not 100% sure if they still do.) But they also allow you to upload a resume as well, where you can specify degree and expected date of completed. 😊

Hello Teacher Kelly 😊 I’m applying for a position at Magic Ears (so great that they now hire British teachers!), and it’s recommending that I do a recorded demo... perhaps because of the time zone I’m in? If I do a recorded demo, will I still have access to the Magic Ears platform? Or basically create my own class based on the content given? Thanks for your help, and your video is wonderful and instructive by the way! 😍
Hi! 💜 The recorded demo no longer takes place on the platform, nor are there slides given. You just make your own via using the specifications given. 😊

Hi Kelly, when you record the demo for magic ears, do you get this lesson?
No, the recorded demo does not involve the platform or slides any more. You are just given instructions and you make your own video.

There were specifications given on what to include for the video; definitely be sure to read carefully any instructions or requirements given when preparing for any demo in the future. Mistakes happen! But companies do want to see that you pay attention to details! 🙈 Try not to stress though! Worst case, you can reapply in 3 months. 💜

@G L Yes, you have the option to upload your own video, but it does tell you exactly what to include (intro, demo teaching m/n/moon/nurse). Be sure to follow specifications given. 😊
We’re you the one navigating the website for the demo or the interviewer?
This is a bit older, when the recorded demo was done on the teaching platform. (I am doing the navigating.)
@@TeacherKelly so if I am doing the live demo interview, would I have to navigate the website and if so do they teach you how before the demo interview? Thanks
@@usinebob Yes you will do the navigating between slides. Once you book your demo, you are able to dowmload the app/platform in order to practice and prepare.

@@usinebob Magic Ears does give tons of info/videos to help. But you need to play around with it yourself mostly to get a feel and learn the platform.
Hello teacher! I want to do the recorded demo. Can I add extra words that start with m and n in my demo? Like the words mouth and nose? (I have those props too).
Hi! Thanks for messaging. You probably can, but honestly I don't think you will have time. You only have 3-4 minutes. By the time you do an intro, teach M, teach moon, teach N, teach nurse, all with the appropriate modelling, repetition and practice, you will likely be out of time. Play with it and see how you go, but I definitely wouldn't skimp on what you are meant to teach just to add it in.

I passed the mini demo and booked the trial demo, but I did not get a PDF file of the trial demo lesson, so i don't understand how can i practise my trial demo just by looking at the youtube video they sent me, Kelly do you know if i could ask them for the pdf?
Hi! Congrats on passing your demo! 🥳 Magic Ears doesn't use or give pdfs. All classes are taught and viewed on the platform. You will need to download that if you haven't already, and there you can view the lesson. 😊

For the demo, do you have to get through all the slides within the 8min ?
This video is a bit older, from when the demo was longer. The new version is not this long! So don't stress too much about timing. Just follow the instructions of your interviewer. 😊

Hi! No problem. Have you booked a live demo? The slides typically appear soon after doing so. (There are no slides nor do you use the platform now, for the recorded option.) 😊

@@dilshadomar7589 You can do whichever you are comfortable with in terms of live or recorded. But no, there are no slides for the recorded. You just follow the specifications and guidance given in your application portal (website) to make and upload your demo.

Hi teacher Kelly, what app did you use on your online classroom?
For teaching, it is the Magic Ears app. You download it at the demo step in the hiring process. We use it for all classes! 😊
@@TeacherKelly I downloaded the app but it's blank. It just says "no classes scheduled yet". There is no material for classroom for me to practice the functions :(
@@12robgaara You will only see material if you have scheduled a live demo. There is no material given for a recorded one now. 😊

Hi! Thanks for watching! :) Yes, if you list South Africa as your passport (nationality) and you demonstrate a clear, native-like accent in your interview, you can be hired by Magic Ears.

Hi! You are not fully hired until you sign your contract, supply your documents and pass background check at the end of the hiring process. The demo is the big hurdle though. If you pass it, you move on to the trial demo which you can redo until you pass.

Also, just curious, if a student did not get an answer right during a game or review, what is the best way to correct them and get them on track? You did an amazing job of demonstrating everything in this video with amazing energy!
@@jessicaknowles8097 Hi! 💜 Thank you so much! Feel free to email me to chat at teacherkellyuka@gmail.com. As far as error correction, it depends a bit on what it is. But I never embarass the student. I just circle the answer/word/error on screen if possible, then do some more repetition or practice. Then if time permits, I let the try independently again. I keep it fun! 😊
