It's not uncompressed, it's just rewritten. The originals weren't compressed in the first place, they were written that way specifically for the SNES from the start.
@@Evilmon2 Actually, that would not be entirely true. While the music is not compressed, the SNES had limits in terms of Hertz, due to the hardware. Instruments on the Donkey Kong games and Super Metroid were based on some midi keyboard samples. The original samples were much clearer than the SNES could handle. It had to be rewritten though, that is true.
ALL of JamminSamMiller's remasters are GODLY. I downloaded all tracks from the DKC trilogy and they are glorious. Hope to hear more drum covers by you 8-bit
Not to rain on the parade, but didn't Wise himself say that these 'restored songs' were kinda pointless as he was writing these songs with the compression in mind (on the snes itself), so there is no restoration needed? Or am I thinking of a different remastering project?
Its more so that the fact all the samples were made on the SNES itself and thus the "Restored" versions are a bit moot as there are no original high quality samples from any workstation outside of the SNES itself. Its still an awesome sign of dedication from the fans of DKC that in the end I definitely don't care much about what Wise said, still respect the man deeply, but they're still beautiful to hear like this even if their fake restorations in a sense.
@@Club_Weeg They're only fake if you don't take into effect that the original music was likely tested on midi keyboards before being added afterwards. To note that the guy is now restoring Super Metroid tracks too, since he basically did every track in the 3 SNES DKC games.
Yeah I guess but the way Wise described it in the 25th anniversary interview on GameXplain made it sound like he worked a large majority of the time off what the SNES would produce and probably only used stuff to just test out his initial sketches but maybe I'm just misinterpreting the interview.
never knew this theme was from donkey kong. i first heard it in the fangame pokemon insurgence and got major nostalgia for that game instead of DK lmao
Why call them restored? They're just remixes, covers, rewrites, etc. There's nothing to restore as the originals were made for the SNES. Calling it a restoration is almost an insult to the original.
@@ss3nm0dn4r8 It's calling it a "restoration" that's an insult. It's like claiming that their rewrite is actually the real original that they somehow recovered instead of the derivative that it is.
okwendy spamming “OHHHHH BANANA” with Jerod obliviously rocking out to a DK song is a mood
We stan the mods
omg. and then I stopped for a while to get some water
Hearing this song uncompressed is so overwhelmingly satisfying, it feels like you’re hearing the song for the first time again.
I KNOW RIGHT
For me it is hearing something for the first time

Donkey Kong Country games had some of the best music for the time.
OH GOODNESS HEAVENS, A FRUIT RICH IN POTASSIUM
Hands down the best gaming soundtrack!
For a split second, I thought this was going to be another SephiKong video.
Sephikong isn’t here!

Seriously Thanks Sam for Giving Wr. Wise's work new life!
God I love this song!
And your drum cover makes it much better! C:
For some reason it gives off Phil Collins vibes and I love it
@@calebturner405 the key is the same as “Comin’ in the air tonight”, so that combined with the punchy and moody drumming probably did the trick!
2:04 for the WHAT?
For the host. I get why you can get confused; sometimes the t sound just doesn’ exist.
I remember being at this stream, it was an amazing experience. Highly recommend :D

that wouldn't make them pointless, just stray from the original vision

They matter because they sound cool.
8-Bit Drummer always makes my day
I still remember the PCM and Flac audio formats. PCM was used in the HuCard games for the TurboGraphic-16.
0:14 "I can feel it comin' in the air tonight
Oh Lord" ...wait, wrong song.
David Wise is such a goddamn genius
And so is Jammin' Sam Miller, the guy who restored these songs to their original glory.

Watching the gameplay gives me so much anxiety because of how much they're missing...
