    @Alastair l love the Persona games and the obscure atmosphere surrounding them. l started with the 3rd on PS2 and ever since then l got hooked on. Recently l had the chance to buy the 1st one but l haven't played it yet (too busy playing other games).
    For me, JRPGs dn WRPGs are two diffrent sides of the same coin : we don't seek the same things when we play them. Nowadays, JRPGs try to be more western-like and vice versa so l predict in the near future a complete fusion between the two.

    @Alastair l don't know much about stories being changed in recent games and since l don't own every games, l can't say for sure if it's happening or not. All l know is that for the Dragon Ball games back on the super famicom, the translation was often not following the orirginal dialogues at all so l wouldn't be surprised if for some games, they still changed details of the story just so that other consumers understand the references made in the game.

    Wow...this opening is way better than both the prologue opening and the anime opening from the PSP version...

      The only thing PSP remake version that's better than the original PC version is adding a 'free battle' mode where you can use any character from the trilogy if you happen to also own Vermilion Tear or White haired Witch. Which got kneecapped anyway because PSP remake's battle system is kind of crappy compare to the original anyways... Or characters have a portray in dialogue if that's your thing.
      That weird system has neither the simple elegance of traditional JRPG's turn based combat, nor the enhanced battlefield control of the original pc Cagesong of Ocean. I played about an hour of White haired Witch and already can't bear with it any longer.

    If you are referring to this specific opening, then you probably don't know what you are talking about.
    This opening is for the PC version of the game Legend of Heroes V: Umi no Oriuta, which was only released in Japan in 1999.
    So what you have here is basically the real opening for the Japanese version.
    This PC game's original Japanese opening has always been purely instrumental.

    It's Akai Shizuku, literally : "red drop", or as they translated in the psp version : "A tear of vermillion"

    @Alastair Obviously you never heard of FF13 main theme or the change of names in RPGs or even the suppression of most sidegames in Yakusa 3... (the list is non exhaustive) They do change A LOT of things instead of just translating the games.

  • @Heroinedown
    @Heroinedown 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Alastair Why did you make that comment about my reaction if you contradict yourself now? Lots of things are modified while adapting the games to the US. Translation is only a small part of it and l believe what Ryozinman was trying to say was : the reason of all those changes might be because they think the only way to seduce us, non japanese consumers, is to modify the games and make them more "accessible" but by doing so, sometimes they also take out most of the identity of the games.

    Well... it is a lot more new/updated so that would be the reason as to why :P

    @Ryusg7 Just watch the last ten seconds of the movie and you'll know you're wrong.
    You're half wrong because the US PSP port of this game has been named Legend of Heroes III. Check its wiki page !

    No, it actually doesn't make sense.
    The PC version (the one that uses this opening) came out in 1999 in Japan.
    The PSP version was released in 2006 in Japan and is basically a remake of the PC version... minus this cool intro with the memorable instrumental track.
    The anime intro of the PSP version uses the exact same song than the remakes of Legend of Heroes 3: Shiroki Majou and Legend of Heroes 4: Akai no Shizuku, which is quite lame, IMO.

  • @Heroinedown

    @Alastair As for FF13, the song already existed before the game came out. They were running out of time and they just bought the rights so they could use Leona's song in the game for the US players but her song was never written for the game. To make long story short, they used a "star on the rising" to promote the game for the occidentals thinking "we're gonna attract a larger number of people by doing this". Stupid idea if you ask me, the original song was way better for many reasons...

  • @Heroinedown
    @Heroinedown 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Alastair "Another claim that is obviously false", dude, that would be the only one actually since he was right for the rest. lt's just that a majority of american gamers don't appreciate JRPGs as much as Europe for instance. They need this liberty to create a character and to go through the story as they see fit but the problem is this new character is deprived of charisma and personality and there ain't that many choices in the end. Now l like both genre but to me, the most intense is JRPG.
