I never had hate for the SV era. It’s the reason I am in the hobby. I am a little worried about stock and if I’m trying to buy specific cards for the collection, or deck, or even packs to crack open will get tougher and more expensive.
As soon as sword and shield dries up and the new era comes, S&V will be just as hot as S&S is right now. Pokémon definitely needs to bring the print runs down a couple of notches.
Seems many people think Obsidian Flames is one of the worst, if not the worst, sets so far in S&V but it is the one set at my lgs’s that is sold out??? Everything else is still available….
Bought 3 boxes of S&V base a week ago...vendor is still holding my order and has yet to ship it. I gotta wait another week before i get auto refunded. I'd rather have my BB's i paid $85 per, now they are gonna shoot up in price. Looking pretty Shady at this point.
Who is calling it a trash set? I just got back into the hobby and watching non-stop pokemon youtube videos and forums. I haven't heard one person call it trash. Whole bunch of us came back to pokemon cards because of the quality increase and artwork. Even the Korean cards have step their game up in production quality. I'm assuming this is the investor side talking.
I feel They need to shorter print things to justify the new price increase at 160plus on Pokemon center that no one will touch if they can get cheaper so that’s what they have to do
I’m still seeing some of these around in Walmarts. The boosters mainly at certain places. Give it a few years. 😒 I’m not much of a scarlet & violet tcg era guy. Kinda lot, I might as well just buy singles. I still wanna finish the most expensive set for modern which is evolving skies. Plus I wanna finish my vintage sets too.
If pokemon does that to drive market to msrp this soon, it will likely cause sharks to come eat up the early pricing - from there the stock will dry up sooner, driving the prices up quicker, thus spurring pokemon to reprint/print more.. rinse & repeat, right?
only people saying its dead are investors lol everyone else is hyped. i love the illustration rare and the secret rares are getting crazier too. i should probably buy more before it shoots up like s&s. i do wonder if less prints might also be the reason as well
I don't really care for Scarlet and Violet manly because there's no shiny pokemon in any of the sets, except for Paldean Fates, In Sword and Shield, you could get shiny gold cards and radiant cards they basically had a shiny Pokemon in every set

I never understood the SV Era hate. It's what got me back into collecting. I absolutely love the IRs and SIRs.
You might have answered your own question. It brought a lot more collectors to the scene, making cards more scarce and possibly raising their prices.

Good. I thought I was crazy buying a case of S&V Base for $499 plus CA tax. Was only meant for keeping sealed and from footballpete.

Baffled by the hate because the artwork is already a level or two above sword and shield. It’ll be very interesting to see the next year or two.
