The nature of this being a mystery box and all the items clearly not being curated for aesthetic means to me that many people ordering this will end up re-donating the clothes. So this company middle mans, makes a ton of money, probably gets tax breaks etc. for their "environmental initiative," and ultimately is much worse for the environment considering all the shipping and energy wasted for these to end up back at a landfill.
Yep yep yep yep! 65$ rags or going straight back where it came from. They probably should stop individually measuring items (???) so they can charge less than 65 bucks and then maybe people wouldn’t feel as bad cutting it up for rags??
i'm honestly glad it wasn't sponsored because this is what actual people would get in their box, rather than the company knowing its gonna be shown and sending better stuff. (I see this a lot when people make thred up videos vs actually looking on thred up) lol
Yes!! So true, I hate watching the thred up sponsored videos because I always think okay maybe they have better stuff now, then I go look and it’s just trash or over priced.
I feel like when they say the stuff was scheduled for the landfill, it’s because this is all the stuff from goodwill that no one wants. Then they sell it for $65 😬
I agree with this. It’s not a fancy curated box tailored towards your desires. It’s the crap at the thrift store that no one bought and was being sent to the landfill. 😑
Carrie you’re a gem! I totally understand that you don’t want to bash a company that is sustainably helping our world but like... if the box isn’t worth $65, then I’m glad we know. I mean, you could probably finder better or equal at the thrift store for half the price... no shade. Just sayin. 😬
spending 65$ to ship items to a warehouse, then to another warehouse then to your house, only to eventually drive or take the buss to donate these to goodwill when you finally give up hope. THis isnt actually good for the environment lol
But some people may have never known about this service until watching this video or one similar and now that they do the service could still outweigh the impact on the environment over them going to landfills?
Rebeca Lynne or you could donate clothes to homeless people or victims of abuse or give clothing to recycling plants or to overseas charities. Not only that, buying up thrift clothing in bulk to sell to rich people is unethical when you consider the price increase and loss of variation for people who only have the option of an in person thrift store.
I feel like this is a scam. Buying a box of random stuff you don't want for such a high high price. It'd be better just to enjoy what you already have I think. A cool idea but not really... I think for that much money it should be vintage, higher end items.
And I think it should be more curated. I’d rather give my money to a Depop or Poshmark small business owner and get a box with items that I will enjoy!
You should try depop mystery boxes! They can either be themed (cottagecore, dark academia, etc) or based on your personal style. I recommend @adeladaniels but there are a bunch of users :)
If you went to the thrift store and came back with a $65 haul I feel like you would have a lot more gems and a lot more items. Idk, I appreciate what the brand is doing but their profit margin considering theyre not likely purchasing these items to begin with... 🙈
at first when you said $65 for 8 items was expensive I was like “that’s pretty cheap actually Carrie” BUT then I saw the first T-shirt and was like.... okay 😗 yeahhh I could do allllll that at value village for under $20 lmao but you were so positive so we love it regardless 😂
I would love love love to see you embark on a sewing/mending/altering journey and learning how to take second hand garments and tailor them to you. I know a lot of your audience would be appreciate this too, and would allow for more content that doesn't require a haul/order/purchase if that's something you feel you need a break from
This box screams scam 🤷🏻♀️they probably buy everything in bulk for dirt cheap and is so overpriced, i mean the idea is good and all but maybe if it was 35bucks?
I commented this on Alexa’s goodfair vid as well, but if you don’t like the items you get, you can go on the website, tell them what you didn’t like, and they’ll send you new ones! You just pay shipping and they tell you to take the stuff you don’t like back to the thrift :)
I love that you've got the internal commentary across the screen because I'm sitting here with squinted eyes thinking... "For real, you're cool with this? Oh... okay, no. Cool..."
Ya girl my husband and I tried em once. While its agood cause, the clothes we got were either clothes we would only wear as pajamas/ lounge wear, or clothes that straight up weren't our style. Its why i prefer goin to thrift stores in person and picking out clothes
If these are items that are close to be tossed into the landfill so why don’t they send like double/triple the amount of clothing in the box. Or like box filled with these items that can be used as rags and stuff.
When I worked at Goodwill we had a giant box in the sorting area for clothing that wasn’t good enough to sell so we’d send it off to be made into rags. And that’s definitely what Carrie got in this box lol
I feel like the last windbreaker is the jacket your dad tells you to leave in your car, in case you get in an accident. I think that big E could be distressed with a wire brush to break up that pristine puffy lettering. Then do a bleach tie-dye. I actually kind of like the tees-- but to be altered. And I wouldn't spend the money on those.
These items all seem like stuff that got rejected for “sale” when people sent them in....I’ve sent in at least 3 boxes of stuff and not everything was accepted and now I have an idea of what they do with it although I NEVER sent in anything like this stuff 🤣😂🤣😂
I love how nice you are. Even when it doesn't go the way you think or want. You always have a way to make it seem impressive or not as bad as it is. I love that about you. You always seem to brighten my mood. Which I needed today. Thank you 🤗
I've seen a couple of these unboxings in passing and from what I've seen they're very overpriced for what you're getting. I know what the company is trying to do, but it's a big no from me dawg.
Postmark some of the items you didn't love? I would wear TF outta that last windbreaker in the fall! Also: what if you make our own version of a mystery box on your Poshmark? That would be super dope to receive surprise items from you and I think anyone who's been following you for a while kinda understands your style and would love to see what you select for other people? Idk just a thought
CARRIE! I’ve been a fan of yours for so long and I went to Wylie East!!! Small town high-school in Wylie, Texas! I was in their fourth graduating class (2015) and I wasn’t into the Raider mascot either 😂 Love you! Love your videos! Have a good week🤍
Girl I love how kind and genuine you are with your reviews but sometimes I wish you wouldn’t feel the need to defend yourself so much, you’re always allowed your opinions and I’d rather you speak your mind and screw the haters that complain, not everyone is gonna agree with you and someone will always have a reason to complain. I just want you to be comfortable sharing what you want how you want without always having to apologize. Love your videos always and will always support you ❤️❤️
Bless your sweet, sweet heart for giving the Summit a 1.5 ... you are a much better person than I (who would have used the shirt to pick up my dog's mess and mailed it back to the company).
i would love to see you do a curated depop/ poshmark thrift style box! you can support independent stylists that way as well as get more items you’re interested in/ will really work for your size and style! much love carrie!! xoxo
The first flannel was so cute 😍 my favourite shorts are st johns Bay! I know the t-shirts weren't great, but considering that the other items could easily run $20-30 alone (even in the uk) its a good price! Especially as that cost covers packaging, wages and delivery like you mentioned
Carrie, you should do a depop style bundle! I've been seeing them everywhere and it's a good way to support someone while getting secondhand items you will actually like.
I love your positivity! However, I would be mad if I paid $65 dollars for this box 😂. It’s one thing to save things from a land fill but not if someone is just going to get rid of it again.. just my opinion. But I do love your trying to spin it positively
DIY the thsirts! Bleach dye the summit shirt. For the powerpuff girls one you could put an applique on it or do some embroidery, like cover the 'Lili' on the back and enhace the 'girls' on the front
Wear the blue T-shirt inside out. If the words on it are making you feel uncomfortable. That color is gorgeous on you. Also that last windbreaker keep in the trunk of your car as an emergency jacket it’ll fold up super small. You or a friend may need it someday
This reminds me of when ThredUp used to donate the clothing they couldn't/wouldn't sell, either due to being worn out or too stained to fix... but THEN they started selling the stuff in expensive bulk as "Rescue Boxes" for crazy prices. I ordered one of shoes and it was sh*t. This is giving me the same vibes. Same bad taste in my mouth. Look, we obviously want to stop things from ending up in landfills, but this is not it. Clothing companies need to stop producing so much. That's it. Obviously I haven't looked into the company and their ethos, but from hearing about and seeing what people get in these boxes, it just looks like someone came up with a company (not a non-profit) to make money off selling literal trash to people who have empathy and follow trends. :(
das esspensive, $65 for 6 items. It’s like $10 per item. So not awful but t shirts are usually $2 at my thrift store haha. I so appreciate you for doing these videos for us!
Girl, I have a bunch of St. John's Bay jeans from the thrift store that I love! Last week I went thrifting for the first time since everything reopened (in a state with a much different covid response than Arizona) Since the dressing rooms are all closed I wasn't going to get any pants, but I couldn't resist looking at least. Found two pairs (different washes) of straight leg St. John's Bay jeans in my size, looking like new for $9. So I buy one and try it on at home, fits perfectly. Ran back and bought the other pair!!! Sorry your mystery box was, well, crap. I'm glad you and Alexa have done some of these to show people what you get. I lowkey wanted to do one, until I saw that it was basically what brands couldn't sell otherwise.
Oh my lanta! I cannot believe you got a Wylie East High School Raider sweatshirt! That’s my high school, it’s a suburb outside of Dallas. What a last from the past, I couldn’t believe it when you pulled it out!
I honestly really appreciate an unsponsored video every now and then because I know it's not just me that notices this... But sometimes (okay, really most times) a brand will send someone they're sponsoring, the best of their best... And it's not really an accurate representation of what the average consumer might receive. Not saying the sponsored person isn't being honest because I'm sure they love the things they get sent and if they don't then they say so too. But if a brand already knows they're gonna get some views on what they send, they're definitely going to put more thought into the things they are sending... Does that makes sense lol? Idk. But hopefully you get what I mean. Like the silver lining here is I'm glad you decided to go ahead and place an order without their sponsorship so we can see what kinds of things we might actually get.
I’m so early!! Love you Carrie!!! I know this isn’t a moving in vlog, but I’ve been watching those and LOVE them!! My bf and I are moving next week and your blogs truly make me feel calmer and more excited about moving ❤️
Yes! I ordered from this company or another very similar one (I can’t remember it was like 4 years ago...) and I was so disappointed by the tshirts I got!! In the ad on Facebook it showed cooler vintage t shirt and then I got random old navy shirts that aren’t really my style and weren’t even vintage!!
Loooool the fail of those two first pieces😂 love how you try to make them not seem that bad though like yeah you can wear them to bed or to workout when we absolutely know nobody would EVER buy a Lili powerpuff shirt nor a convention one Hahahah I love u and your positiveness 😂😂
I'd love to see you do a take on MannyMUA's recent series where a subscriber styles a mystery box for you! They could thrift for you from traditional brick and mortar shops, online, AND do what you, Laci, and Alexa do with each other by selecting some of their own pieces for it, too!
You might enjoy a goody box from ThredUp instead. It’s a lot like stitch fix, but all second hand goodies. It’s like $10 and then you just pay for what you want to keep. And you fill out a style profile and everything! AND the stylists can shop your favorites if that’s what you’d prefer.
I’m currently attending (“the”) Ohio State, and we literally have a road on campus called “Undefeated Way.” They really, really love their football team here. I’m apathetic, but I also know literally nothing about sports. I love that you just have no idea who the Buckeyes are. 😂
Ella J I’ve lived in Central Ohio for most of my life, and I’ve only been to The Shoe for a game once. It was everything people say that it is. If you are still at OSU when crowds can gather once again, you should go to at least one game. If you don’t like it, you can at least make a good profit from buying and selling that season ticket that only students are sure to get.
So, small world...I grew up down the road from Wylie East HS so that sweatshirt is from Texas🤩 Also, LOVE that first windbreaker! I had to pause the video there so I could comment and not miss content😅 Thanks for the content Carrie! Stay safe!
The navy blue crew neck would be super cute with a bleach tie die, and IF you could find a giant patch to cover the logo that would be cute too but idk If you could find one that large that’s cute lol (definitely just searched on Etsy and you can find some cute large ones for $8-$20 👌🏼)
Omg this is a long shot to be seen but I live down the street from Wylie East!!!!! It's actually a high school in the suburbs of Wylie, TX! That's kinda funny to see it sold in a thrift box but awesome to see it on your channel though!🤣😁
There is a girl on TikTok that does thrift bundles that she personalizes to your style. She has different price levels and then you send her inspo pics of the styles you want and she goes thrifting and diys some of the items for you. Would be a cool video!
I really like the flannels and would love to see the raiders sweatshirt bleach tie-dyed! Maybe you could use the second windbreaker as a rain jacket if we ever get to travel again 😂😭
Omg haha super random, but the Wylie East raiders sweatshirt is from my hometown in Wylie Texas! It is a high school btw😂 We are a pretty small town in Texas so I was shocked when I saw it in your box lol.
the powerpuff girls does have potential... you could crop it, bleach dye it and add like a little bubbles patch to go with the blue, and you could maybe cut the sleeves of the blue flannel and sew them onto the blue sweatshirt (Hannah Elise did a tutorial) i think it could look pretty cute!
When your love for thrifting and Ohio state football come together ❤️ also I didn’t get a good look, but I think the second windbreaker had cape cod MA on it.
OMG! Oho State Buckeyes are The college team of Ohio. I probably only know because I’m from Ohio originally, cause I also don’t sports. But you brought me a small piece of home, which felt good. Thanks!💜
LOL I’m dying at your reaction of the last windbreaker 😂 “is that a cheeta?” The logo is Cape Cod, MA. Very well known on the east coast! Also very preppy and white..... but that windbreaker woulda been 65$ alone on the cape... maybe that helps in justifying the purchase 🙈
LOL team ghosted by good fair 🙌🏻
I literally use all my good fair pieces as rags now....😬
!!!!!! 😂☠️
Omg Carrie please do the Depop mystery box that Alexa did it was much more curated and worth the $$ 🤗
Omg my two queens ❣️
Lol at least that’s some use out of the 60 something dollar haha
The nature of this being a mystery box and all the items clearly not being curated for aesthetic means to me that many people ordering this will end up re-donating the clothes. So this company middle mans, makes a ton of money, probably gets tax breaks etc. for their "environmental initiative," and ultimately is much worse for the environment considering all the shipping and energy wasted for these to end up back at a landfill.
Exactly. This.
True!!! All of those extra clothes should instead be donated to homeless shelters for free
Yep yep yep yep! 65$ rags or going straight back where it came from. They probably should stop individually measuring items (???) so they can charge less than 65 bucks and then maybe people wouldn’t feel as bad cutting it up for rags??
This this this 👏
👍🏽exactly what I thought!
i'm honestly glad it wasn't sponsored because this is what actual people would get in their box, rather than the company knowing its gonna be shown and sending better stuff. (I see this a lot when people make thred up videos vs actually looking on thred up) lol
Yes!! So true, I hate watching the thred up sponsored videos because I always think okay maybe they have better stuff now, then I go look and it’s just trash or over priced.
👏 yes this!
So glad I’m not the only one who feels that way about thred up! I thought it was just because I am mid/plus size!
Emilee is right-- they would have totally hand selected the best stuff to send you and it's better that we see what a normal person would get.
@@samanthabrooke96 def not just you ! im xs-s and i can never find anything!
YES! Every single thing in this haul would end up right back at Goodwill for me...
Yeah and like the thing is theses items could be instead donated to homeless shelters rather than thrown out :/
I thought the same thing watching this! Basically, a marketable way of getting rid of stuff no one wants.
Omg when she said "am i being too harsh?" GIRL YOU'RE NOT BEING HARSH ENOUGH😭😭
That first shirt would be free in a conference goodie bag 😂😭
It might have even been an extra from a conference and not even actually have made it to someone's home
😆 I get shirts like that at Goodwill for like $2.50!
I feel like they shouldn’t sell the “personalized” tees. Like with names and stuff on it. I think that’s a bit too awkward
Carrie you’re a gem! I totally understand that you don’t want to bash a company that is sustainably helping our world but like... if the box isn’t worth $65, then I’m glad we know. I mean, you could probably finder better or equal at the thrift store for half the price... no shade. Just sayin. 😬
THANK YOU for saying this love! I was trying SO hard to see the positives but this just.....ain't it lol 😂
Carrie is too nice lol!
spending 65$ to ship items to a warehouse, then to another warehouse then to your house, only to eventually drive or take the buss to donate these to goodwill when you finally give up hope.
You should check out redbird vintage! Rachel Maksy made a video on them
That 1st shirt........😂😂😂😂😂😂 girl I lost it.
I think we all did 😂
You should try depop mystery boxes! They can either be themed (cottagecore, dark academia, etc) or based on your personal style. I recommend @adeladaniels but there are a bunch of users :)
Came to say this and also recommend them!
Yes her friend alexasunshine83 did one and it was perf
Yes! Danielle/Twinelle is good as well!
I SECOND THIS! I
Is that user on Instagram, TH-cam, etsy?
They said let’s ghost her then send her a business convention t shirt
If you went to the thrift store and came back with a $65 haul I feel like you would have a lot more gems and a lot more items. Idk, I appreciate what the brand is doing but their profit margin considering theyre not likely purchasing these items to begin with... 🙈
"Am I being too harsh?"
Hon, not harsh enough, but we love your positivity 🌞
at first when you said $65 for 8 items was expensive I was like “that’s pretty cheap actually Carrie” BUT then I saw the first T-shirt and was like.... okay 😗 yeahhh I could do allllll that at value village for under $20 lmao but you were so positive so we love it regardless 😂

When Carrie said that 2002 was almost 20 years ago, I felt that.
This thrift box seemed scammy
"What is that? CHEETAH?" Carrie it's CAPE COD, MASSACHUSETTS LMAO
😂😂 I did the same thing I was like um pretty sure its cape cod??
LMFAO IM CRYING
Just commented the same thing 😂😂
Lmao being from Rhode Island I was cackling when she said cheetah 😂
I said the same thing, waving from 🇬🇧
This box screams scam 🤷🏻♀️they probably buy everything in bulk for dirt cheap and is so overpriced, i mean the idea is good and all but maybe if it was 35bucks?
I was gonna say no more the $20
I commented this on Alexa’s goodfair vid as well, but if you don’t like the items you get, you can go on the website, tell them what you didn’t like, and they’ll send you new ones! You just pay shipping and they tell you to take the stuff you don’t like back to the thrift :)

This is the best comment!😆
i went to ohio state and literally screamed when you pulled out that sweatshirt!! so good!!

Me, a buckeye fan: absolutely ecstatic that you liked that sweatshirt lol.
That was the best thing in the box. GO BUCKS!!
O-H!!
Abigail Smith I-O!!
Abigail Smith I-O!!

You should bleach tie dye the power puff girl shirt. And either crop it or cut the sleeves off
CARRIE!!! this hair color with this headband! WOWWY ZOWY. love it.
LIVING for that headband. Absolutely slaying the look 😍
"But there's AC in our house, so we'll be fine."
I'm just really glad that this is part of your life, now. You deserve it.
CARRIE! I’ve been a fan of yours for so long and I went to Wylie East!!! Small town high-school in Wylie, Texas! I was in their fourth graduating class (2015) and I wasn’t into the Raider mascot either 😂 Love you! Love your videos! Have a good week🤍
I literally said OUT LOUD "I love that wood" as soon as the video started. Your new little filming room is sooo cute

As a Columbus Ohio girl, your reaction to the OSU sweatshirt made me smile so hard lol 😻😂
Carrie, you should do a depop style bundle! I've been seeing them everywhere and it's a good way to support someone while getting secondhand items you will actually like.
Where’s Lili? Who’s Lili? I’ll do one better, why is Lili?!?
and What is Lili? :O
I love your positivity! However, I would be mad if I paid $65 dollars for this box 😂. It’s one thing to save things from a land fill but not if someone is just going to get rid of it again.. just my opinion. But I do love your trying to spin it positively
Me, seeing the blue sweatshirt: "She's gonna bleach tie-dye that.
Carrie: "My first thought was bleach tie-dye..."
😂
I was going to say the same thing lol I think bleaching and cropping it and it kinda might be cute lol
@@esstace Yes! I'd totally bleach it too.
I'd love to see you do a video about ordering clothing from the unclaimed baggage website!
Love how positive you are even if this wasn’t a great deal.
DIY the thsirts! Bleach dye the summit shirt. For the powerpuff girls one you could put an applique on it or do some embroidery, like cover the 'Lili' on the back and enhace the 'girls' on the front
I'd love to see a follow-up video on how you decide to style/thrift-flip these items for your daily wardrobe :)

If you wear the Ohio state sweatshirt in public and people scream “O-H” at you, don’t be alarmed lmao
And the proper response is I-O!
Yea I about LOLed when she took that Buckeye sweater out 😂😂
Just found your channel through Sierra and i am lovinggggg it! Can’t stop watching. Ps those t shirts were saddd sad 😩😂
I love that blue headband!
Should I be watching youtube videos at work? No. But will I be anyway because Carrie's videos are awesome stress relievers? Yes.
You could try Thred Up's Goody Boxes! I've never tried it personally but I do love thred up and it seems to be more personalized to your style ❤
I scream laughed sooooooo damn hard when you were like "Lili....whooo is Lili?" like big mood
OHIO FOR THE WIN!! That sweatshirt is my fav! Proud Ohioan ❤️❤️ love your videos❤️
lol you're being wicked generous to this box
I'm here from the other box video and the Lili got me!!!!!!!!
I'd love to see you do a take on MannyMUA's recent series where a subscriber styles a mystery box for you! They could thrift for you from traditional brick and mortar shops, online, AND do what you, Laci, and Alexa do with each other by selecting some of their own pieces for it, too!
I love your honesty
So, small world...I grew up down the road from Wylie East HS so that sweatshirt is from Texas🤩
Also, LOVE that first windbreaker! I had to pause the video there so I could comment and not miss content😅
Thanks for the content Carrie! Stay safe!
"Over 100 degrees and the sun hasn't come up yet" -- literally you just described hell
So excited for another new video from you!!!. What an awesome idea - love a thrift mystery box - how fun ! Ps. Love you 💕
Gods, she's so positive about everything. Hahhahaha love!
Your positive comments are wonderful!💗🌼
I really like the flannels and would love to see the raiders sweatshirt bleach tie-dyed! Maybe you could use the second windbreaker as a rain jacket if we ever get to travel again 😂😭
I LOVE the second teal coat and I live in Canada. If you put it up on Postmark I would totally buy it from you.
Omg haha super random, but the Wylie East raiders sweatshirt is from my hometown in Wylie Texas! It is a high school btw😂
We are a pretty small town in Texas so I was shocked when I saw it in your box lol.
the powerpuff girls does have potential... you could crop it, bleach dye it and add like a little bubbles patch to go with the blue, and you could maybe cut the sleeves of the blue flannel and sew them onto the blue sweatshirt (Hannah Elise did a tutorial) i think it could look pretty cute!
You could put an iron on patch over Lili since it’s small enough
When your love for thrifting and Ohio state football come together ❤️ also I didn’t get a good look, but I think the second windbreaker had cape cod MA on it.
I love your love for flannel and it's warm there I'm a Mn girl who owns no flannel and it's cold here in the winter 💖💖
