What a fantastic job you’ve done on that kart. Anyone who drives the karts you’ve put together would be lucky and proud to drive it. Well done Brad you are a Gem.
I had this when I bought my prokart just before lock down. I used the pressure washer with a degreaser in a snow foam lance. Bearing carriers and bearings were all seized on to the axle. Just ended up replacing everything for new
i think you can get your rear bearings on easier by just opening up the bearing holder a bit, like jamming a screwdriver inn where the gap with tightening bolt is. i did this easy by hand on me and my brothers kart. (Pragua and Gillard)
It’s a little bit of a tricky design with these ones. I don’t think it’s particularly easy to keep a screwdriver in there whilst you hammer the carrier around the bearing.
Great video, Brad. Hope the testing went as planned, and we didn't take up too much of your time! Your brothers kart looks fantastic on video, but looks even better in the flesh. 🤜🤛
I Was looking at starting karting, but I am nearly 16, this is good information for me as I would want to learn how to run it and fix a kart as it is just me and my dad on a tight budget, any tips and recommendations for me please? Thank you, etc, where can I get cheap but good karts.
Great vid Brad, shows what you think can be a really nice kart but the reality is that its a lot of work, HP's is also a 2018 but thankfully we have avoided the welder.. so far!
We enter as part of a race weekend so the fees are different - I’m not sure what it is separate to that. Probably £60 for the day or something like that.
Another great video Brad. One quick question I hope you won't mind answering. If a rolling chassis in this kind of state was £800, how are people finding any at the £400 price point suggested on the Facebook page? I was hoping to enter my son next year but really struggling to find anything at those prices suggested.
Simple answer: OTKs are popular and expensive. If you find a half decent OTK for £400 as a rolling chassis then buy it! You can get hold of some others for less from other brands - or maybe just get lucky with a good OTK from someone desperate to sell who’s happened to look after it. But normally £6-800 is the starting point for OTK.
Driving standards are very good - and strictly enforced. After you’ve bought your kart, you’re looking at 6 rounds costing £120 each. Aside from that, fuel at £10 per round and hotel / travel which is really down to you how you approach it. It’s as cheap as it gets
@@BradPhilpot nevermind, I found it at my preferred store (K-Racing) ! Thanks anyway. Fitting the footrest with the floor on it's a pain in the neck, I wish I knew this part earlier

Thanks Peter - that’s really kind. Karts l built are currently 1-2 in the championship standings so I’m happy!
Hey Brad, if you put the disk in the caliper, lock the brake on then put the axle in it’s so much easier than hitting down to the right spot

There's nothing more satisfying than watching a go-kart being properly restored !
Definitely I like these kinds of videos
this one looked like a real handful, you did a wonderful done getting it all done in such a short turn around!

Is it the GX-UK series you’re looking at?
Brilliant video!
Can't believe how dirty that was before hand 🤯
Yeah it was grim!

Thanks for watching Neil!
i recognise that kart :) good restoration!
Thank you 😊
Great vid, was thinking about going to Llandow for the first time wondered what the track fee is and around how much track time you get. Thanks

What paint process did you use for the frame? Straight over the existing powder coat? Great video!
Yeah and to be honest - it wasn’t great. Just a temporary fix. My brother actually had the kart acid dipped and repainted about two weeks later 😂
Great Video!
@@dst_20 thank you for watching!
i could never even imagine trying to do this🤣🤣
Thanks for watching
I'm might try this because my sister is doing gx next year
Do it

Great video ! What engine mount did you use to keep the clutch off the seat please ?
I use the 7Kart mounts
So much fun thanks bro x

we got a great kart - next sentence it needs welding 😂

Hey Brad, I'm thinking about starting GXUK next year. What are the driving standards like and how much does it cost a year from your experience?

@@BradPhilpot that sounds very cheap, just need to get me an engine. How do you know if your engine is "race legal"
How did you “de-yellowify” the fuel tank please?
I bought a brand new one in the end 😂
What fuel cell is that kn the kart and where did you get it from?
It’s an OTK “small” fuel tank - from eBay
Can I ask where you purchased that piece that goes underneath the footrest ? Thanks
EBay - I’ll find a link

Perfekt❤
What rear hubs are these?!
I got them on eBay. They’re copies of OTK magnesium ones but in aluminium
What go pro are u using? Mine fell off when i went karting on saturday and i couldnt find it 😭🤣
CamBox V3+

Any recommendations for gearing at llandow 😂
