A couple days after this was released, CUBE dropped a video called "Revenge : Case File G", which relates the events from the perspective of Investigator "S".
Shuhua is a very impressive actress. Her acting first caught my eye in "I Do", and again in this MV. Shuhua is really able to convey powerful emotions with her facial expressions--she needs to star in some dramas!
Oh you should've seen the smile on my face when you mentioned Soojin in 8:18 (and then I was like "noooo" when in 15:58 you didn't notice Soojin's birthdate on the board). Your interpretations are always among my favorite ones in reactions and I just can't wait to see what your reaction will be when you find out the victim Shuhua is actually Soojin.
I think you’re right.. the first “Character” Shuhua plays is Soojin. But I think it’s to represent Soojin being hurt by all that happened, and G Idle letting everyone know they will always have Soojin’s back and protect her. Also stating that after having to fight back and leaving the group. She may have been hurt, but she has her album coming up. So she still came out victorious and unharmed at the end once her bandages came off. ..at least how I see it. 😊
One thing I think that I haven't seen anyone mention before is the building is Cube. The women are all in the building portraying what they bring to the company. Was the person who got "destroyed" in the beginning Soojin or was it Shuhua? Maybe the person watching all the women from the outside is actually Soojin and how the f-ery of what happened destroyed Shuhua but now she's finally starting to recover now that she is seeing Soojin finally starting to do what she wanted to do again. The person they killed was the media or maybe even Cube itself because of how they destroyed them. One hurt and one killed. The group was hurt as a whole and the group died that day. There is a reason why in English, they call themselves (G)I-dle but for their album after Soojin's forced (speculated) departure, they went to calling themselves just I-dle for that album since the G also represented 6. I could see Soyeon coming up with a story against Cube under their noses and them not even realizing it.
You confused the part where Yuqi squard down in shock at the hall way while others are also around, that moment was "after" she hit that man with her guitar. They work together how to get rid of him
hmm... I think they're 2nd place. Red Velvet members were "killing" each other in Russian Roulette. They killed the delivery boys in Peekaboo, and then that dude was killed in Chill Kill 😂😂 RV 1st place. I-dle 2nd. Dreamcatcher 3rd
Don't forget they were mourning the guy they killed in "Hann", oh! and the guy they killed off in the beginning of "Put It Straight" Queendom is another too!
2 People here already mentioned it (and some other People on TH-cam and Social Media) but they are very clearly hinting at Soojin in various different Ways both the MV and the Follow Up Video Case File G 👍🏻
I find it interesting too that the last time it’s said, it sounds like they are saying ‘(G)I-dle (saying it as Idle) took revenge’ instead of ‘I got the revenge’
I think the hallway scene confuses people the most as it's Shuhua trying to figure out what happened in her mind. She's playing it out "Minnie running away from the scene, bumping into Yuqi, who sees the fire and is shocked by it." She also knows Soyeon and Miyeon are involved, but not sure how. I think that's why there's two Shuhuas in that scene...to show it's not actually what happened.
I think Kaia's got the gist of the surface story in the MV. And I sort of think she's figured out the under layer too pretty quickly. That won't stop the wall of text in the comments, but yeah, she's pretty much on the point after one watch, and got more of though the next one. Off topic. I think I noticed that Yuqi signed her own electric guitar... because of course she did. Yuqi be Yuqi, even in a story driven MV, after all! lol
One thing that just ocurred to me - Everyone I saw comenting the video talks about the abuser as "the abuser". There is an undertone of domestic violence and as far as it goes its a guy, but why dont show his face and why the 1st person POV? It could be just dramatics, it could be because the face of the abuser doesnt really matter as the MV is about the revenge itself but still - why the first person POV? Why no mentions to who this person is are made, not even in the case file that was later released? I think the abuser is actually the public. Now, it doesnt mean that everyone watching is the abuser, but that the public itself is. If this MV really is about Soojin, then it wasnt even the bullying accusations that made her leave Idle, but the bullying SCANDAL. Scandals only exist if there is a public. Even if you was in her side, even if you were neutral about it, or even if at that point you were against her - everyone moves the scandal foward.
Thank you so much for your reaction, I really like your reaction style and channel, this music video is so interesting and a lot of people are finding hidden details and meanings, a lot that are connected to soojin. There is of course the obvious signs, like the 6 finger prints, the extra (6th) girl in some scenes, and THE BEST PART, they LITERALLY, listed SOOJINS DATE OF BIRTH, along with the other 5 members on one of the papers in investigator shuhuas room!!!! And then allllll of the not as obvious (possible) references, I highly, highly, recommend you watch this video- th-cam.com/video/sfxbkTQXIZU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bGdxM_7NT6SOhuO8 either as a reaction (preferable lol) or own your own time. It is so so helpful ❤❤
For the 1 st layer interpreted via Revenge M/V not the story behind as the Fans should thinks. 😂 The meaning of Easter is 'to be a new beginning of life' that Shu has a new birth after she was abused for a long time or survived with the burning. And the M/V just tells the world....If oppression and violence are still ignored. The more violence will increase in this world. This means more clearly when I saw the Revenge Case File M/V. If the women don't ignore their problem, all they can participate in is to solve the abused circumstances finally. So if you don't want to do the violence you should join together to help each other. All scenes are good if we interpret as metaphor. But many scenes do not fit, The building seems not the same building when looking from the detective Shu see the crime scene and see Minnie. The 1st scene there is the slide d door to balcony but the last scene, Shu sits on the cabinet no door. And if Minnie light fire like that all them will be burn. Should not has the scene Soyeon drag the body if there is one dead. If she cleans the crime scene, the guitar will not heavy like that. The blood on face should be on Miyeon's face. In the case file, the match missing. I think it was burned already in crime scene. In case file Yuqi said she is in the room play guitar and didn't hear anything. But in M/V she walked in the hallway and saw the burning. If this actual picture, Yuqi would hit by guitar box too. First I think this scene they tell police.like that. But it didn't.
Their official channel released a “case file” video to explain the storyline. th-cam.com/video/CA9jn8viiK4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WeKL6zi9_g1mVEyN Yes Shuhua played two roles: one is the detective, and the victim from the abuser, is widely interpreted as a metaphor for Soojin. It’s been the most blatant reference to Soojin since she left. At 1:31 of the MV, you can see a paper on the wall where four sets of dates were written at the bottom. Those were birthdays of Minnie, Yuqi, Shuhua and … Soojin. 1998.03.09. And in the final scene of the case file video, there were six ppl in the framed picture. The subtitle says “I decided to become the last accomplice.” So they’re six. The MV isn’t edited in time sequence order. I think the explosion was staged to cover up them killing the abuser. The scene in the corridor, I believe is their testimony to the detective (as you can see it was shot in a way in those conspiracy films, when everyone freezes only Shuhua is walking around and inspecting). The ending shot, where victim Shuhua reveals her face without wounds (or recovers from injury), I believe it’s a metaphor for Soojin making her comeback last year. Like she’s got her revenge to the injustice, and all the girls were on her side all the way.
hey, I have a question, will you react to the new band Nomad? They debuted 2 days ago with the song "No pressure" before their debut, they released songs about "Lights on", "Let me Love you", "Oasis" and more ,members' names: Doy (Leader) Sangha ONE Rivr Junho (Maknae)

(G)I-dle must be the Kpop group with the highest body count in their MVs: first Tomboy, I Want That and now Revenge. ; )

I really recommend Bookish Theories analysis of this. They do a great job of explaining both the "official" storyline and the Soojin side.
