They do like to give her a kid to look after don’t they? Spoilers but I loved the storyline of Joan and Lorelei Wilkins, I just thought it more convincing than that of Joan and a child.
Shane,s real name is Robert Summers, also there is another actor in pcbh who is Kevin Summers. he plays Ben Fullbright in later episodes, I wonder if they are related ?
Joan is so complex but you can understand why she is the way she is in a way, but I do enjoy seeing her more human, compassionate side. It's very rare, but quite sweet to see when she has someone to care for. Shame she won't treat the prisoners with more compassion, but you can understand why she's hard on them after what happened in her past.
I had to rewatch that scene and didn't even notice they were in B block. Furniture was shifted a little, ping pong table instead of a pool table and lounge chairs a bit different.
For Star Wars fans, the actress who played Dot (Althea McGrath) also appeared in 'Attack of the clones' as the manager of the Jedi Archives, Jocasta Nu
Ross Lamb Not gonna be the last time you see her though but yeah they got rid of Cass, Pixie, Colleen, Rick and Phyllis for Marlene, Heather, Dennis, Dot and brought back Marie and this was all in a span of a few episodes.
Joan certainly changes her opinion on staff members dating each other she said to Anne that relationships between staff is bad for discipline yet when Terry turns up she seems to forget all this...
42:03 "What's your dark secret?" Indeed. There's something off about this Officer Dennis Yorkshire Pudding. Mrs. Reynolds was putting it charitably when she described his rough handling of Bobby as "overzealous"--he's basically guilty of manslaughter. Then, with Cass, he insists that the gate be slid open so that he can karate chop her, when he should have let it go once the gate was separating them. I'll bet his wife wanted a divorce for a good reason--perhaps he was a bit "overzealous" with her as well.
According to Bea a long time ago, Maree was there when Doreen was first put there as a sixteen year old, She stated to her how she was the top dog and Doreen burst into tears and attached herself to Bea. So Maree I know they spell it Marie is one of the longest staying prisoners both on screen and off.
Just something that keeps me watching this drama, even though I can see half of it's not quite as real to prison life . But you gotta love it. But the story lines are good and you can relate to them most the time
Joan has a soft spot for kids. Just wish she could realize the women in prison used to be kids once, too, and have had issues in their childhoods that perhaps led to their being incarcerated. That new screw shocked the crap out of me with how she pulled those karate moves on the inmates. Dadgum. ⊙.☉
Yeah but it fits with her profile. She hates prisoners because they killed the only person she's ever been in love with. Kids are innocent so it stands to reason that she wouldn't have anything against them. It seems she was a sensitive person who became hard because of the trauma. Very different from Joan Fergusson in Wentworth who was a true psychopath.
I'd hate to travel all the way to Wentworth to see someone and then have a one minute visit and then have to travel back! No wonder they hardly get any visits!!
You'd think that Wally, having shaved off the grizzly beard, would have then turned his attention on that disgusting green whatever it is waistcoat that he wears like a second skin.
It brought a tear to my eye when he appeared. I had forgotten this storyline. Not seen it since the original airing way back in the 80's. I've seen some repeats since then but not this part. You grow to love Joan during storylines like this.
In the last few episodes I really feel like the writing has gone down the toilet. Also, they've introduced so many bland characters and gotten rid of ones we've known for ages (in a very short space of time). Hopefully it picks up again because right now it seems like the show has completely run out of steam.
And now we enter the absolutely dire Shane story lines that seem to go on and on and on more than Celine Dion's heart.... But at least we have the fabulous Marie Winter to off set that!!!
It was smart of Wally to take Myra and her daughter to his mates place. He has a history of helping escapees right the way back to when Judy escaped down the tunnel, and that incident will be on the police record. His quarters is one of the first places they could look if Ann gives any hint at all to them about his involvement with Myra prior to the escape. Not sure where this Dot character fits in. There doesn't really seem very much to her character at all and if she is meant to be a replacement for Lizzie then, well, they have failed miserably because they are like chalk and cheese.
+8ballpoolking1 My thoughts exactly about Dot being Lizzies replacement. Now Marleen is Doreen's. They named Marleen to remind us of Doreen... Their subliminal message naming wasn't to secretive.
So Judy yells at Rabbit and confiscates all her practical joke material like a screw, then keeps it and uses it to play a joke on Reb? Typical hypocrite bossy Judy!!
Kay Woods In my opinion, Joan (Fearless Fergie) is more honest than Meg because Joan gives her help and trust ONLY to those who she considers worthy of her trust and help! Fearless Fergie is no softy or pushover! Her strength of character and caring are reserved for certain types of people....such as children ..... in certain situations. These children who find themselves in particular situations --- just like Joan's pet dogs ------ know they can trust her because Joan is honest with them! She doesn't try to bullshit them and she can still be herself and not feel that they will try to take advantage of her. In fact, most children and dogs appreciate someone who is firm but fair and trustworthy......because at least they know where they stand!
Shirley Marie Bradby WOW you are a deep and very thoughtful lady and I like you. Must agree the Freak does have her strengths and is her own worst enemy. Regarding Meg well I just hate her she is tedious 😐
JH JH Thank you for your kind compliment! :) Yes, I agree with you in regards to Meg! As a person Meg is ------ as my mother used to say---- "a good egg"! Therefore, after a while.... Meg's inability to use her experience to become wiser ...... is just incredibly annoying. She is constantly being attacked by people who are mentally unstable and manipulated by people who are just users! ....Please Meg --- "Come on! Wake up ...and smell the psychosis already!" Shirley Marie Bradby How do I follow that😗 Well something that really rankles with me is the fact that Meg would be in Prisoner long after 1986 had the show continued. I really get the feeling that the actress never felt the desire to leave despite her character being a boring sucked orange. Also I gather the producers and writer's had no plans to axe Meg either. So Meg was just an unnecessary part of Wentworth wether that was good or not. She needed to go long before 86 that is a certainty😃
god these writers are killin me with all this animal death on this show. Also, no one is stupid enough to put there drugs under the mattress.. thats the first place anyone looks. first thing the screws do in a cell search is rip the bed apart.
She should have been sentenced too MUCH more time. She killed someone, not intentionally but doing something that could obviously cause death. I would have given her 10 years, not 6 months.
Dot reminds me of the Wicked Queen in the Disney cartoon 'Snow White and the seven dwarves' when she drinks that concoction to disguise herself as an old hag to trick Snow White into biting that poison apple.A skull with parchment stretched over it.
She should have done as it would have been about frigging time. She’s caused enough trouble since 1982 and here we are two years later with the Freak still at Wentworth.
For someone so thorough and disciplined, I was surprised Joan didn't think to have any napkins available when she and Shane were having dinner! Straight after polishing off the T-bone steak, the boy rested his greasy hand on Joan's lovely tablecloth. Tut tut!

Seems like joan might have a heart , its nice to see that side of her.
How can anyone resist that's face??? He's adorable! Joan would have been a great mother!
I haven't seen Joan being this nice since she met the little Girl next door whose Mum killed the violent drunk Dad.
They do like to give her a kid to look after don’t they? Spoilers but I loved the storyline of Joan and Lorelei Wilkins, I just thought it more convincing than that of Joan and a child.
yes , Love Joan,s soft kind hearted side
Joan is very good with Shane. This is a positive story and shows Joan in a more humane light
Shane,s real name is Robert Summers, also there is another actor in pcbh who is Kevin Summers. he plays Ben Fullbright in later episodes, I wonder if they are related ?
"I could have you for breakfast and not even raise a burp" - got to love Marie's lines - she is fantastic.
Wally is so kind and thoughtful, would have loved to have seen more of him instead of coming and going
This is the start of a great storyline with Joan, Shane and Nicky the dog. Love Joan’s gentle side
Yes , I was do Joan good to have him
She showed her good side a few episodes back to Hannah too she does have a good heart deep down but doesn't show it much
That shot of the dog looks hilarious - half boy, half dog at 1:15
Lol😂😂😂 I laughed at that, dogs face with human legs lol x
apparently dog's aren't safe at Joan's house
Thanks, dad for coming to visit for exactly one minute and fifty seconds.
The kid looks like Gary Busey 🤣🤣 and dot is a poor substitute for lizzy
ANOTHER dead dog? Seriously? Animals who go on this show are basically given a death sentence!
Joan had a heart. She was a complex character but made the series
Was I the only one that saw a dog with human legs laying on the sofa?
😂😂😂 you’re not alone,,,I saw it too.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Me too……
The little boy turns up. This is where Joan turns into a human being.
Bobbie really is a great character
Terrible actress

Ferguson meets Dennis the menace...and his little dog too...lol
I think that's the only time we ever see a rec room from a different block.
It's a shame the writers didn't use the women from the different blocks - it could've been quite interesting.
Mr Spoon You’re right. That same set makes up B Block’s rec room, H Block’s rec room and the dining room. 😃
I had to rewatch that scene and didn't even notice they were in B block. Furniture was shifted a little, ping pong table instead of a pool table and lounge chairs a bit different.

The problem at this point is too many new characters in a short space of time. It's worse than Hollyoaks.
