Wow, that brings back memories. Old geezer here who raced at Goodwood back in the early 80s. Looks like similar stuff -- had a Birel kart with Parilla and Komet 100cc direct-drive engines. Shifter karts were just coming out but mostly in Quebec. A chubby young kid graduated from the Whitby 4-stroke track to Goodwood and made an immediate big splash -- named Paul Tracy. Scott Goodyear was around as well. Goodwood regulars also raced at Picton, Montreal, Three Rivers, etc.
I want to get into karting, would a vlr kart be ok to start with? I feel like the lo206 karts i would get bored of quickly. Also do you need to book time slots to just do laps at this track? I don't want to race right away and just want to do track sessions on a Friday.
You should start with arrive and drive championships. You just show up to the race and Goodwood provide you everything what you need. They have Monday to Sunday leagues.
