I wonder who that lass was at 3:19, she was a babe. And some of those marching bands remind me a bit of the marching scenes in ulster, but without the aggro. And this is great stuff, so well filmed and the sound so well recorded too, and all done the hard way on good old celluloid, and this was 1977, before vhs and betamax arrived here in Britain and before home video cameras, and well before the internet and camera phones and suchlike.
Excellent film Mr. Ellwood. A friend of your Dad, John Selby of Epworth, can remember Ken filming him steam thrashing at Harry Panty’s Farm at Haxey. Do you still have this film? Could it be seen? It would be really appreciated!
Hi Neil, yes we do! I will try to make this my next film to upload. I was there with my Sister and I think this is the one Dad recorded sound on a reel to reel tape. Hello Peter, that would be fantastic. John is 73 now, and still has engines. Mr Pantry’s grandsons have recently bought a pair of ploughing engine s, but were born after their grandad died, so they too would very much like to see the film. You’ll make their Christmas, Regards, Neil.

Fascinating. Just comparing the shift in fashions from your 1953 video. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Gala (do you say Gay- ler or Gah-la?) these days seems a much more low-key affair. Do you have any footage from the Sixties at all? If there's a truck full of Greatwood Primary School kids from 1965 - 67 anywhere, I'm probably on it lol

Somethings never change...raining on Gala day! Then you look at the shots at the top of Gargarve Rd and it looks strange without Rockwood.

Sorry, no gala footage from 60s. Skipton Gayler is correct. I believe a Settle community may be having some films digitised which may feature Skipton?
