Saw them 2019 in Sydney and at the time as a 42 year old woman I felt like a little kid again. Surprised I still knew all the dance moves even though I hadn’t practised it since constantly replaying their music vids to learn them in 84-87. I was so happy and they were bloody brilliant plus so funny. It made my heart so happy. Hubby had seen them in them when he was a teenager and said they were just as dynamic and fun. Regardless of their age they spayed and turned it out. I remember seeing Jennifer Saunders on Graham Norton show mention before that no one she knew partied harder than Bananarama it made me laugh then and makes me laugh now considering they hung out with Sex Pistols and the Clash. Thanks for uploading this doco! ❤
Sucks that "Pop Life" didnt get mentioned really. Here in NYC, I remember hearing "Preacher Man" on the radio, and the remix of "Trippin On Your Love" used to come on the Jukebox Network...I think I just dated myself :(
Pete Waterman at 1:44 : shaking my head in disbelief. He blamed Bananarama, who wasn't the most innovative band, for wanting to be creative and make music on their own terms. This man makes music as he would make copy machines and his cynicism is absolutely pathetic. The girls had all the rights to propose new ideas and change styles for new singles. But all he wanted was to keep doing the sale thing over and over.
@@megababy80 He was alot like Berry Gordy. "My Way Or The Highway". Alot of Groups at Motown could have had bigger hits but Berry was so obsessed with Diana Ross and making her a Big Star the other Ladies took a back seat.
@sparkleeboi Jacquie did did record vocals for I Want You Back, and she did sing on Nathan Jones because the track was completely re-recorded for the single release.
Smash made a few research errors in this documentary..one big one in this video was the narrator claiming that Please yourself was Bananarama's third album when in fact it was their sixth. Bananarama are national treasures, my mum and I went to the reunion tour last year and met them before the show. They was truly a joy to meet and seemed genuinely happy to embrace the overwhelming love they was getting from the public. It was one of the best gigs I have been to also, they really went to town on making it special both in sound and imagery.
Perhaps for Nathan Jones she might have but I want you back (with Jacqui on board) is INDENTICAL vocally to the version on "Wow" which Siobhann recorded).
I paid ZERO attention to Bananarama once Siobhan left. If you listen to the records with her.. her voice is the primary sound. Hello Shakespears Sister!!! It's cool they got back together for that tour. I hope they write a new album
Another person who was a Salaried Employee for a long time was Al Jardien of The Beach Boys. He quit in 1962 after the Group made only $1000.00 US Dollars that had to be divided Six Ways including The Beach Boys Father & Uncle Murry Wilson who was their Manager. When they left Candix and joined Capitol (The US Division Of EMI), David Marks, Dennis Wilson's Friend was in the Group, due to creative differences they decided to let him go but he was planning to quit. Al rejoined The Group but didn't make the Bank that the others did most notably Brian Wilson did because he wrote their Hits or Co Wrote them. He's well off financially but he got a Second Chance, alot didn't.
Pete Waterman: "Of course, you can't have fame on your terms, it doesn't work like that" One word: SIA. "Siobhan wanted every record to sound differently... sorry, doesn't work like that" Figures he says that, hence his 'legacy' of completely interchangeable songs, of which only two withstood the test of time: You spin me 'round (which is brilliant, I admit) and Bananarama's Venus (which btw he also thought was a bad idea) I know they sold tons of records (regrettably), but if he thinks he can compare to other great pop writers in terms of quality, he's sadly mistaken :-P
ian davies Yes, but Siobhan is such a smart lady. She knows how to have a life outside of Pop Music a lot of them don't. At last Report Latavia Roberson (Ex Destiny's Child) did a Reality Show called R & B Divas Atlanta while Farrah Franklin got arrested for Disorderly Conduct.
Stock Aitken Waterman's Music can't hold a Candle to Phil Spector. His Songs have been synonymous all over the world. The Ronettes, Righteous Brothers, Crystals, Darlene Love, Gene Pitney and of course Ike & Tina Turner with River Deep Mountain High. Xenomania studied Motown and Phil Spector Religiously and their Songs for Girls Aloud were brilliant. If anything they were to The UK What The Neptunes Pharrell Williams Chad Hugo were to the US.
I’ve just grown a massive respect for the girls. Pete trying to tell em it doesn’t work like that. 🤣they showed him different 🤣 just shows that people like him don’t give a fuck what the band think. Just do as you are told.No Pete
6:00 Well Sarah given your same career choices you think you would know what the world already knows about spice girls THEY WROTE THEIR MATERIAL so considering the difference in levels of fame I think you should get back in your box
Siobhan was physically very attractive & very intelligent but the fame seemed to go to her head & at the end she was too full of herself... ...ie; full of shite. At least she has the modesty to admit it.
POP LIFE is an AMAZING NANA album and deserved more credit!
They sound so much better as a trio, and of course Siobhan is teriffic
Why didn't they mention their album with music producer Youth? 'Only your love' and their cover of 'Long train running' were amazing singles.

It’s a guy who seems like the quintessential record man-always telling you what you can’t do... then you do it anyway. It works and it doesn’t too.
@@megababy80 He was alot like Berry Gordy. "My Way Or The Highway". Alot of Groups at Motown could have had bigger hits but Berry was so obsessed with Diana Ross and making her a Big Star the other Ladies took a back seat.
sorry girls, it takes MORE than 2 Bananas to make a bunch
absolutely
Great documentary! I love all four members of the group.
Siobhan has the nice smile
I'm having so much fun watching these videos...seriously, thank you so much for posting them.
@sparkleeboi Jacquie did did record vocals for I Want You Back, and she did sing on Nathan Jones because the track was completely re-recorded for the single release.
At least they came out of it with some Financial Security. So Many Girl Groups to this Day came out of their Celebrity Penniless.

SIOBHAN, ES PRECIOSA SIEMPRE SE DESTACA EN EL GRUPO ❤❤❤❤
7:30 I was there, I came the whole way from Berlin to see that. This was a great saturday night on feb 23rd 2002
I first heard Love In The First Degree in 1988. Just like yesterday, I can't believe so many time has past!
Proof of never saying never..Saying at the end that they would never get back together..yet here we are this week with that exact thing happening.
Hell must have frozen over

All three of the girls were talented, But Siobhan was the real deal and was by far the sexiest 😍
Love this doc!
Bananarama sound so much better when Siobhan is around.

Siobhan
see, Siobhan at least contributed. Still loved them, great songs, and IT WAS FUN !!!!!!!!
All that's left after the apocalypse ... cockroaches, plastic bottles and Bananarama.
jessie j is the double of sibbohan!
I would only go see them with Siobhan.
tallcoolone09 I agree.
tallcoolone09 she is back
I would go to see any version of them - and have - because I'm a TRUE fan, not a fair-member fan.
builttrainer Hi there I am going to see them in November, and like you I am a true fan,I have been for over 30 years.. happy days
Bananarama will always be all 3 of them Bananarama
The girls always sang so well.. i don't understand why they were ALWAYS using playback.. =(
The last part of this video is just a dream come true...
bananrama are so amazing

Really interesting to watch this, now that Siobhan has reunited with them and they're on a rather successful tour. Never say never.
love it what a great interview. PW is a knob though!
Ohhh now I see the connection with Graham Norton!!
To me Jacquie will always be a the 4th member of Bananarama
Siobhan looks gorgeous blonde or brunette
I don't know about you, but I agree with Jacquie. She always felt like the +1, which is sad because I thought she was a great member.
Way late on the comment but I thought she was a great member of the band too
My favourite was always sarah 😍😍😍
Never the same without Siobhan!
ian davies Yes, but Siobhan is such a smart lady. She knows how to have a life outside of Pop Music a lot of them don't. At last Report Latavia Roberson (Ex Destiny's Child) did a Reality Show called R & B Divas Atlanta while Farrah Franklin got arrested for Disorderly Conduct.
She is an intelligent lady.
Latavia is in a hospital fighting to survive
Siohban
My God, those dancers 2:50 8- )

I find it odd that barely any singles compilation features her version of "I Want You Back". o_0
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Never say Never!!!!
So given they are all 3 back together for the tour this year, I guess she didn't mean NEVER ..
they said George Michael dying kinda woke them up he was a close friend of theirs he introduced Keren and Andrew
plus another friend and they thought you know life is short you gotta go for it now
Siobhan has been sacked already,
Sara/Keren and management no longer need her. Siobhan has admitted this.
Abba's records all sound different
I'm willing to bet that some of the men at the Bananarama reunion show were NOT gay.
I’ve just grown a massive respect for the girls. Pete trying to tell em it doesn’t work like that. 🤣they showed him different 🤣 just shows that people like him don’t give a fuck what the band think. Just do as you are told.No Pete
get your hands off Siobhan she's all mine!
italy love bananarama!
why are the credits running over the most important bit of the film....so dumb...
I KNOW! I was so annoyed not ONE video was shown! >:(
They dont even look like bananarama. They got switched out.
I think the one that ended up in a Mental clinic was Siobhan! not sure.....
6:00
Well Sarah given your same career choices you think you would know what the world already knows about spice girls THEY WROTE THEIR MATERIAL so considering the difference in levels of fame I think you should get back in your box
karen ,sara, jacqui and siobha the four together much better
Yes that would be great Shioban and Jacquie are friends.
Siobhan seems quite self absorbed. Is she still married to your man from the Eurhythmics?
no that ended a long time ago LOL he has been remarried for years so has she or she was LOL
you have to be somewhat slef centerd in the music business or it will eat you alive
I love your Bananarama and MrPoopface
Hah! Perfect.
Still so hot....
My favorites were always sarah and keren.
Siobhan was physically very attractive & very intelligent but the fame seemed to go to her head & at the end she was too full of herself... ...ie; full of shite. At least she has the modesty to admit it.
I love Bananarama and MrPoopFace!
That was a load of bollocks.
They were British? Lol
