And if you wanted to get really technical, Esther's "little man" is specific (in that it excludes well over half the people on Earth) while the contestant's "person" is general... (I agree that match was valid, but I think it illustrates the fuzzy and highly subjective nature of this whole general vs specific "rule" they so frequently trot out.)
In my opinion, Bern just doesn't have the vocal timbre like Johnny O that matches (see what I did there?) They could have gotten a young Rod Roddy (who also followed him in TPIR).

I usually don’t much notice Brett’s coughing, but it was nasty in this episode. It was so unpleasant I wondered if the producer would ever replace a celebrity panelist for something like that. Maybe not mid show, but certainly between shows.
