@muira58 Lolol this Canada definitely l still exists, you just have to know where to find it. Just cus a tree fell in the forest and you didn’t see it, doesn’t mean that mf tree didn’t fall. Same goes for operations like this one.

In many ways this Canada is gone, first it became unaffordable, then unattainable, and then unknown to the majority. After all that happened it was easier to regulate into obscurity, however there are still remnants of it out there hanging on.

Almost! Had the rest of my family had their way that is exactly what would have happened. I was able to save most of the things he had collected as well as the things that we had collected together, but in so doing I lost my family (and spent a lot of money). It was actually a good bargain as I was able to save what was real.

@@dryrockstudios3231 That's one of the happiest endings i've ever heard. My great grandfather had a belt driven shop. That was lost when my mother sold his ranch for pennies.

My mother did not sell out for pennies, but that is a common story. Instead she revealed her true self and her greed and jealousy took control, and that of her daughter's as well.

Your dad seems like my kinda guy. I'm 42 but have many the same desires. I kept scrolling until I found exactly what you just said about preserving his collection. I live in Ontario but have been through Quesnal many years ago. Should I ever be back that way, I'd love to see it in person. A very personal question if I may sir? Often times, when someone has such a connection to a place, after they pass, it's as if they are still around in a way. Have you ever experienced times where your sure that he's still around? Regardless of your answer, wherever he is now, I'm sure he is proud of you ;)

When I first got this comment I wasn't sure how to respond. It hurt, and I didn't want to respond reactively with a "if you have nothing nice to say......" comment. I think part of the reason it hurt was that the comments abruptness struck me as being rude. After a few days I received a couple other similar comments and it got me thinking. Another part of the reason was that I miss my Dad, and yes you are right he has passed away. But I think your comment was not intended to be rude, but rather to point out what usually happens in these situations, the collector/patriarch/person with morals passes away and the rest of the family sees dollar signs and the feeding frenzy starts. Now here's the thing, if that is what you meant you are exactly right! I was the only one that tried, at great financial and personal cost, to preserve his collection, his home, and his way of life. I got to see what my Dad's family (they are no longer mine) were really like, and even his friends who morally supported my attempt at preserving his memories were right there seeing what they could get for a hundred bucks. I did however succeed in preserving most of the things important to him.
