When he mentions his exile to Kausalya,she also cried but because of a different reason - She literally says to him that she thought she would enjoy maximum power as Rajmata once her son becomes the king.Its more real because till recently in monarchy system,king's mother always held a supreme post of power and the one who can call the shots .This is common across all countries and cultures.Kaushalya says that she hoped that she could hold her head high now to compensate for the lack of respect and favouritism ,she suffered at the hands of Dashratha and kaikeya all these years.She adds that even the maids of Kaikeye had more respect than her .This depicts how it was never hunky dory and rosy between the wives as shown in Ramcharitmanas and TV serials.Hence it's just a pipe dream for her.Basically the 2 women were worried about the well being of their position .Ram was also worried because he also knew beforehand that once he leaves the palace ,Dashratha would cease to rule strongly ,will become withdrawn / bedridden and Kaikeya would acquire more power which will make lives difficult for the other queens specially his mother and wife even when with Bharata taking care of them sincerely. They should have shown at least this here as it's relatable.
This is mentioned in Valmiki Ramayana, Kaikayi was a favourite wife and Kaushalya who was patrani wasn't given enough respect, and when Manthra provoked Kaikayi , the thing that pinched Kaikayi is that she won't be Rajmata and won't be favoured by King and the praja anymore, the relation between Kaikayi and other wives was not that good , the jealously among co wives was common in those times same case was with them ,Shri Ram was literally worried for this and even he told Lakshman to be here ,but Lakshman denied also Sita Mata denied , in reality Kaikayi although she was a warrior princess loved Shri Ram, good in politics but was an arrogant women she want her status to be so powerful
The issue of Rajmata was the also reason even Manthara provoked Kaikeyi. Manthara had that power among sevikas only because she was with powerful kaikeyi. If Kausalya had become Rajmata then manthara's clout among sevikas would have reduced. So both manthara and kaikeyi essentially plotted against Kaushalya. But their bad Karma. Dasharatha died. They never imagined that Bharata would abandon them. He chose Kaushalya as his mother due to his devotion to his eldest brother Shri Ram. Ultimately Kaushalya did become Rajmata both under the rule of Bharata and later under Shri Ram. She ultimately received the respect and prestige she waited for all along due to her good Karma of Bhakti towards Narayan
They did show indifference of Dashrath towards the other two queens. But it was shown indirectly. He always discussed everything with Kaikeyi only as shown in the serial.

Though in this episode,as always Sujay shone in acting,I have a lot of problems with the script itself.Too much dramatic and unreal.Firstly,in the original,ShreeRam also becomes upset about his exile.He neither gets angry nor start cursing though. Yes,he was disillusioned specially when it was decided by everyone that he is the rightful heir to the throne ,not because he was the first born but because of his qualities, suitable to become the next king.But he quickly processes the situation , thinks rationally and sorts things mentally in a quick manner ( very difficult for us to do).He comes out of the room and here Valmiki describes him as a lion coming out of the cave.A lion amongst humans!!
This reaction is quite natural for us too,also more relatable.Some of us wither when faced with tough challenges/ injustice,some keep on crying and complaining ,some end their lives ,some react with aggression,some end up killing others, while others just give up completely.

They also believe that his death was sufficient to pay the penalty for the sins of humanity. Same with other religions that have deeply ingrained belief systems.The makers won't make changes while narrating them ,do they ??
