Always love your videos, they're really great with clear explanation in the simpler way than in the undergrad school. Now I'm graduated and applying for graduate school. It's not easy for a non-English-speaking person like me to learn and understand these materials in English while studying in the USA. Now I'm in my home country Vietnam so I would like to say Thanks from Vietnam!
I love this. Thank you. I just started a PhD in synthetic biology and I'm trying to get my brain crammed full of these techniques so I don't look like a doofus.
The risk of getting cancer INCREASES as you age. This is because glutathione levels decrease, your thymus shrinks as you age so you don't have as many killer T cells AND your stem cells decrease as you age as well.

Immunity to all disease with gene therapy is a good thought but does this include immunity to disease of different aetiology, meaning to say non-genetic causal?
sir, for example when u want a photocopy of a qust paper so u need a paper on which the qstn were copy means u need some base on which the copy is done i.e a peice of paper ,so how our dna at the time of copy arrange the paper on which the gens copied .?
I have a question that i have been seeking to get answered for a while but the responses i got were not clear. What is the undergraduate program that is most related to the stuff in this video? Where i can study how to manipulate living organisms and modifying their DNA? Biochemistry, biotechnology, synthetic biology, etc are all very similar and I’m kinda lost. Any help would be appreciated 😊
well i don't think that you will see tremendous variation in undergraduate programs, because undergrads need to get through basic chemistry, biochemistry, biology, etc. undergraduate research opportunities might vary a lot, but it's really about graduate studies in terms of access to equipment and facilities. as to which schools are the best for biotech, i really have no idea! i would imagine your big boys like MIT and Caltech and what not. do some googling!
You did not mention a few key issues that make Biotechnology an emerging technology of the future and not an established technology like engineering. (1) Economics: Why can't most Americans and Europeans access the majority of biotechnology based medicines? The situation is even worse in developing countries (2) Resistance to technology at the government level. Why has the EU consistently resisted GMO crops? (3) The challenge of Mental health... especially Schizophrenia and Depression. The current drugs are decades old and give our patients symptom relief only. For schizophrenia we have been looking for linked genes for decades. There must be hundreds now. Does that mean that gene and cell therapies will be a long time coming in Mental Health or do we need to think outside the traditional biotechnology box? Henry Ford worked out how to make cars cheaply for the common man so that they were not just a rich man's plaything (e.g. Rolls-Royce). The government has to be on your side for new technology businesses to work that's why the industrial revolution started in Britain, later in US and Germany and not in China or the Middle East. All technologies have their limits, we need to know the limits of biotechnology so we can help our mental health patients.
If God didn’t wish for us to take His role, why did he leave the tools to do so lying around, and fail to punish us when we started doing so in the Neolithic?
Yo dude thanks for the response, never thought you would reply. Maybe I was just being a keyboard tough guy but to explain. You know the cliche "It's not what you said but how you said it" if it that works in this context. You just come off as goofy and maybe that's a good thing since you're talking science and only us nerds watch this sort of thing. Maybe "phony" was the wrong word or even "goofy" but the only other way I can think to explain it is an awkward confidence, if that makes sense. Otherwise your video was well laid out, easy to follow and gets the thumbs up from me along with a subscription. Thanks again for the response.
I'm an avid theologian. I've read all Abrahamic and a variety of Akaddian, Sumerian and so on. Never once have I come across a "thou shalt not modify genes" commandment. However, there are HUNDREDS of warnings in all scripture to not forbid what God has not forbidden. That's the proverbial Highway to Hell on judgement day. All of the determinations of religious leaders saying we shouldn't do this or should do that. Books of "Complementary Laws," and any other rulings outside of those in the Bible, Quran, Ayurveda, and so on are Expressly Prohibited. Nearly all religious institutions on earth have violated these warnings with extreme prejudice. This is the point, "thou shalt not blaspheme," as the Daaleks like to say. Fair warning to those on the side of we shouldn't try to play God. By prohibiting anything in the name of God(Any of them) that is not forbidden in revealed scriptures, you are going against God's Laws. Don't take my word for it, please do your homework and verify for yourself. This is a tenet of any true knowledge seeking, listen, but verify.

Your videos are amazing sir... It's just exactly what we need -absolutely precise and to the point.
Thank you 😊
P Das correct:)
Excellent videos, pitched at the right level for 1st year undergrads. Appreciate your responses to questions.
Gotta watch all the videos I can before I major in biotechnology.. . What did I get myself into
Its a lot using this video rn for my homework.
I love this. Thank you. I just started a PhD in synthetic biology and I'm trying to get my brain crammed full of these techniques so I don't look like a doofus.
This is why I love science baby 😊🎉 science and technology rules and I will always love it!
When he said, "don't worry bacteria doesn't mind helping out." lol
Forward to the future! Chaaaarge!
Your videos are so entertaining and educational, thank you!

This is a great video, I learned a lot from this.
here before a million subs professor dave explains
This is like Vsauce. We start talking about DNA Cloning, end with a discussion of the future of our species.
“Fear induced coma”.. that was too morbid
"Boldly Go" "intrepid" aaahh, I see what you did there
Great video! Thanks for sharing! 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
This guy is my hero
THANK YOU
You are amazing!
Thanks prof Dave!
I LOVEEEE YOUR VIDEOO!!!!

great video
Me encantan sus vídeos profesor!, soy bióloga, me ayuda mucho a dar un repaso y poner en práctica mi inglés, saludos desde la Ciudad de México.
Hola amigo! Recuerdo un poquito de español, bastante para entender eso! Muchas gracias!
Nice video sir.
PLZ MAKE OTHER VEDIOS LIKE THESE..
it is great lecture prof
good video
Thank you so much
What do I major in to do biotechnology
probably biochemistry
it not a mistake its a masterpiece
im here for stem cell therapy explanations

Love
I didn't understand anything but thanks tho
OH MY...Remember...God shall not be mocked. And I'm not religious. Iron and Miry clay.
If God didn’t wish for us to take His role, why did he leave the tools to do so lying around, and fail to punish us when we started doing so in the Neolithic?
Can Scientists get the cure of Corona??
Very Sagany
Who has answers lol
Mengele was born in the wrong century
Whatever that maybe😂😂😂
Thank you so much you explain it very well! I think the ultimate destiny for humans is simply death :)
disappointing. i was hoping he would talk about Crispr and CAS 9 technology.
one day when i understand them better those will get their own tutorials!
This guy is phony but good content
If it's good content, how am I phony?

Awkward confidence? Still not really understanding, but if you like and subscribe that's good enough for me.
