@@obliviousplaysrobloxI'd argue that their attack on Poland was much worse than any subsequent attack. Once war had started, opening new fronts is expected (but not NOT evil).
It's widely believed that Germany and Japan acted as the antagonists in the bloodiest, most destructive war in history. If ever there were a one-sided war (with such monumental stakes) it was WWII. Being an American, I can only imagine the anger and frustration that Europeans from Allied nations would have.
But I think the post war reconciliation efforts were done well and Germany recovered its honor, paid its due. Excessive punitive measures after the first big war just led us to another one, so everyone recognized the need to prevent that and allow the children of Nazis to forge their own prosperity in a peaceful Europe.
With that said, there are good and evil on every side of every war ever fought. There were evil Allied agents and good German agents. Not all Germans were Nazis. Not even all soldiers. Young men were FORCED to participate.
The world decided that the officers should carry most of the blame. Officers - even junior officers - should know better. They have a responsibility to their nations, the enemy, and to all of humanity to reject immoral orders and not give immoral orders.
But the Germans were brainwashed to believe the enemy was evil and represented an existential threat to Germany. The German high command hid their war crimes, so junior officers wouldn't necessarily know that they were systematically executing millions. But it would be hard to ignore all the trains and shit. "They're off to the work camps" I suppose was the line. At what point was that no longer plausible ?

@@obliviousplaysrobloxSounds like how we invaded Iraq and caused the death of a million Iraqis for no reason. At least the Taliban was able to finally defeat us and kick us out of Afghanistan.
