    Glad I found this video on the Facebook page! I've looked into running a cable tether cause my wifi on my camera won't send raw images, its nice for going over images right away with a client, but your video definitely pushed me towards getting a cable. BUT WHAT SOFTWARE??!! lol I'm so frustrated with just trying to find some way to mirror my camera onto my screen. I can't seem to find a verified developer software, to mirror to the computer, for free. I thought your video was a great 101 vid, but you didn't say anything about the biggest detail.... which is that this isn't just a simple plug and play, it REQUIRES a software. Are there any options that are free?? Or are we nailed down to having to purchase something? Im a full-time mom, and I just to camera things as a hobbiest, so I wasn't trying to spend the households income on my hobby habits. 😕

    • @QuantzPhoto
      @QuantzPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jaqui, yes tethering requires software. I use CaptureOne but there are others available but I just don't know if anything is free out there. Depending on your camera there might be a included software where you can live you and capture using it.

    • @jaquirox6579
      @jaquirox6579 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@QuantzPhoto Hey! So kind of you to reply! Sorry for the pure frustration capital text. 😂 So I have a Nikon 3400, I gave up a few years ago on trying to use it for video capturing at all, because of this exact predicament. But now I again have the need for video. So I’m back at it attempting again. I found a few people mention this one software that the developer just asks for donations if you enjoy it. It’s frequently removed from the Apple Store because of “a complaint”, which in todays politics just means that someone with deep pockets dislikes it. 😂 I ended up rolling the dice hesitantly on that last night. And to my shock and awe….. ITS WORKS! Not only does it give you the full screen mirror, but also you have full camera control on it. Now I just have to dink around with settings and such, to try and get the flow of how to quickly do what I want with it.
      It’s called dslrdashboard.info is the website link, and then u click on the downloads tab to view different OS choices and DL.
      But maybe you can answer a simple question because I’m new to all the tethering things, as a Nikon owner. Does the camera sort of lock up most of its settings once tethered? That seems to be what I’m noticing, but there’s no clear or direct communication telling you that you need to get settings gathered before you initiate the tether. But I’m basically seeing them mostly unchangable plugged in, and I recall that being the case years ago when I just plugged the camera into a TV for viewing too. So like for instance, would I need to get all my desired settings for a video set up before I plugged it in? Or is it only going to do this on pictures? And how do I know what’s adjustable tethered, versus what’s locked in?
      I appreciate your time and opinion too btw. 🙏🏽♥️

      There’s a preference you need to turn off in the photos app that tells it to startup whenever you connect a camera. Turn that off and hopefully everything else will work!
