I just checked your page and i'm super impressed with your work!. You're doing something nobody else is doing and a great service to everyone. To me that makes you a special youtuber!. Keep up with the great work!.
I see you've already taught your cat communist values. She immediately demanded that the new tools be shared. But for real, I really love the scans! It's amazing to read actual soviet pamphlets written in English from the thirties
Oh printing!? Awesome. My husband does bookbinding and he's brought up the idea of binding them, making them sturdy and attractive and potentially selling some who's copyright wore off to aid in funding my work. I do wonder if others would be interested!
@@LadyIzdihar that's a really solid idea! Its awesome that you can recirculate these, and I'd totally buy a few if you did an official reprint or something! Maybe you could reprint in collections/volumes?
@@LadyIzdihar I'd be very interested in some nicely bound copies of some of the pamphlets, especially the one you recently covered on your channel about Dusya Vinogradva (I probably spelled that wrong, apologies)!
Holly molly, getting the scanner was only a third of work there, this procedure will take a lot of patience and, though, it's quick with short pamphlets, but bigger books will surely be a painstaking job! Lady Izdihar, we love you for what you do!
Lady Izdihar, first of all I would like to congratulate you on this great initiative and the solid content on your channel! Second, I've got a proposition for you. Not that long ago I bought a pamphlet (in English) about the Soviet Union. It was published in 1941 and its author is Denis Nowell Pritt. It serves as a short introduction to the "new ally" (of Great Britain), its history up to the above mentioned year and its foreign policy. I would be very happy to share it with you so that you could upload it on your website.
I'm a stamp collector of the USSR and the many People's republics throughout the Eastern Bloc. It's very important to preserve these sorts of materials, I don't have many books from these periods but I did find a series of monthly books published in Albania during the 1980s. The publication is called "Nentori" (November, the reason is because the Communist party was founded in Nov. 1941) I might try buying some of these books and scanning them, similar to how you have here. However, I love taking photos / videos and uploading my collections online. I think that stamps of the Communist world are very interesting, so many people to learn about, monuments / statues and the many successes of this system shown on small pieces of paper (Think 5 year plans and how many countries improved in lots of areas). One of my favourite things about collecting old envelopes is sometimes you encounter the original contents! So I've got real proof that people lived regular, normal lives and it's so humanizing and interesting to now be in possession of. I have a few letters from East Germany that went to Canada that's just a few updates about a family still in Germany. Some old photographs of family members, etc. I had looked the individual the mail is addressed to and I found his obituary, he sadly passed away a few years ago but to me it means that I have to take real good care of this mail even if it's purpose was fulfilled in the 1960s. I always enjoy watching your videos, they're quite informative and enjoyable!
Greetings from Serbia, I find your channel and your personality fascinating. I work in a US company and have a lot of american friends, and boy do you break all the molds and stereotypes. I am also quite interested in history, religion and culture, and the blend of your ideas and perspectives, especially considering your background is just super fascinating. I love your channel and please keep on making this super unique content. I have so many questions for you, please make a q&a? For example, what are all the languages that you speak? How do you identify when it comes to your ethnicity? Do you travel to Romania, Serbia, Russia or Germany often? What of all those places do you like the most? Soo many questions 😁
I watched your video and had to go read this book on your page. It filled me with anxiety as I put myself in the place of a Soviet that was the target audience. What a nightmare it would be to get tangled up in such a web. I wonder how widespread the western cultivation of agents was in the USSR? The book is written from a place of compassion as a sincere warning to help comrades avoid such dire straits while protecting the revolution at the same time. It sheds a little light on to why an iron curtain may be desirable. They truly were the pioneers of our international future. May the groundbreaking Soviet people be vindicated by the efforts of the oppressed peoples of the global south breaking their chains and smashing the impoverished foundations of Western hegemonic might. May it ignite a global proletarian revolution the brings the best of everything to all. May there be no more western spies that seek to roll back the liberation of mankind. May these texts be well-preserved and cherished along with the culture and achievements of the Soviet people. Thanks for doing this.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your work! It was actually super cool to get a look at that scanner program, and your video on that journey to finding This Soviet World. I'm studying library sciences and what you do for finding/preserving these Soviet documents is just, well, terrific and inspiring. Definitely going to keep diving into collections around here...
Very excited for you! thank you for sharing, i definitely know what i'll be doing today. also the way your cat jumped in that box the minute it was available was incredible, she should consider doing some counter-espionage with those reflexes.
As We Predicted Comrade....You Are a Work of Poster Worthy work of Socialist Realism with the New Scanner, Let's Just Hope Comrade Cat Stays Distracted with the Box...Keep Up The Valuable Work Comrade !!!!
This is amazing - it's so cool to be able to take things that basically no one in the world has access to and just making it so easily available! I wish I could do something similar.
1:12 Hahaha, I knew that was coming! Cats really do dig boxes, huh? (I don't have one, though; I'm happy with my doggo. Plus I'm allergic, heh. They're cute, though.) Cool video, very glad you were able to get the scanner, and that you met your goal *and then some!* Glad you're doing what you're doing!

4:30 As a fellow mortal hazard, I get what you mean. I too have an endless capacity for forgetting things, being late and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. Luckily this unattentiveness is well represented within socialist movements (every socialist youth group seems to consist of 30% people with ADD/ADHD) so you're in good company!
This reminds me: A few months back at a flea market, I found a small little tourist handbook showcasing various sites in and around the city of Kaniv, Ukraine, published in Ukrainian sometime in 1964. It's in almost perfect condition except for a small tear on the back but I found it that way. Wonder if there's any way I can send it to you for scanning?
honestly think you should put both books you've had both a positive and negative experience with, maybe just add a caption stating your biases and if anything in the book was wrong/should be looked furthur into! ^.^ important to have a large range of texts available even if they're shit LOL
You're the most recent Hero of the Soviet Union. These scans are the only access for some people to ever see this. Do these get run through an OCR so the text can be selected/searched?
The Lady’s got an internet Museum!!!🎉🎉🎉
My dream is to one day run an educational Soviet antique shop. So people know what they are buying!

Slavoj Zizek put it perfectly. In socialist/former socialist states women are walking around topless while in the U.S you would be arrested for it.
Thus is great!
