Thanks! Great question. At the end of the day it was about simplicity vs features. More features always look better at the point of sale, but if you don’t use them often enough just get in the way during use. Think of washing machines-how many of those buttons have you actually ever touched? Or all the menu buttons in Windows Explorer (shudder). So we made the decision to keep only the essentials on the front, but give access to other things via the PCB.
@@PetersonGoodwyn Point taken, but i would like to mention that one of the best features of the Wes audio Beta 1176 is that exact switch between the transformer output or the electronical balanced one. I also wash my socks on 90 and my t-shirts on 40 :)
I noticed from the screenshots in your website, that there is a big silver capacitor which is included with the RED 25 DOA op amp, with the modern variant is not available. My question is what if I would like to use another op amp there, so when I order the modern variant, will that affect my build?
You'd be far better off sending your gear to Mixbus TV. He's super knowledgeable and gives amazing demos of things. He's very sincere and highly trusted by the audience. I don't mind Spectre Sounds content but his knowledge is nothing compared to David's at Mixbus TV and he doesn't do the greatest demos.
We need to hear how it sounds...
I would love to have that 4:1/12:1 option on a switch on the front panel. I would have uses for both and having to pull it out is inconvenient.
PUT A 3-WAY FRONT PANEL TOGGLE ON THE FREQY DEKIES
So many features and a great looking comp but why not kill the jumpers and bring them to the front panel?

IIRC the LA-4 was used on Enter the 36 Chambers
So excited to build one
Send one over to specter sound I’d love to see him use it on a session
I definitely second that. Would love to see Glen review this.
Thanks just checked out his channel and will get in touch!
DIY Recording Equipment yea Glenn is awesome. He’s my favorite. And he really reviews gear the right way.
