@@bruhmomenthdr7575 Pure periodic signals (including sine/cos waves) are defined for all time. Since the video only lasts ten seconds it's not a "true" sine wave. But in the video's defence it never claimed to be a sine wave in the first place :)

Thanks for checking. My electronic tuner says it's between 4 & 5 cents sharp. I checked my tuning fork against the electronic tuner and the tuner says it's within 1c of A 440, so I guess the tuner is accurate enough. That probably means this video is very marginally sharp, by the 4 and a bit cents.
De facto standard A1 = 440 Hz. One and only. Other reference notes can be derived from this physical pitch. How to embed this into your brain? This is called perfect pitch. It can be taught by years of tuning instruments, but some people are natural talents. I've heard of perfect and absolute pitch combo. This means that a person can not transpose music relatively without understanding the intervals between each and every note. It's the musical equivalent of aspergers and a nuisance to overcome.
@muckinaboot I played the video, recorded the sound with microphone and used some program to find thee frequency. The result was 441.3Hz (about 5 cents sharp) when I used ALSA drivers for playback and recording and 440.0Hz when I used OSS4 drivers. So it seems that slightly wrong frequency in the produced sound could also be due to bad audio drivers (strange, I know). I have also tried with two other "A 440" videos on youtube with ALSA drivers and got 441.3Hz again.

Before 1930 the standard was 432 hz. The Hitlers right hand Goebble changed it to 440 - can't remember why. if you want some really good music try tuning your instruments to 432 hz

yes. in fact, barroque music uses the 415 Hz or 430 Hz A.
Violins are usually tuned in 442 Hz.
