- This is a personal dedication to these amazing endangered primates (Japanese Macaque) from Jigokudani Yaen Koen (Snow Monkey Park) in Nagano, Japan.
How to get to Snow Monkey Park in Nagano, Japan

From Tokyo Station, take the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Nagano Station.
From Nagano Station, take the Nagano-sen (Nagaden) train to Yudanaka Station.
From Yudanaka Station, take a bus to Jigokudani Yaen-koen entrance.
From the entrance, it's a 30 mins walk

Very easy to see that these are a very loving snow monkey's because they know to huddle around one another when cold. They also protect their babies by putting them in middle of troop huddle.

They eat nuts and maybe some branches, the park keepers also feed them food.

Were visitors allowed to feed them?
Purdy Mouth it’s very advised not to feed them. They already are exposed to humans being in their environment to such a level that could threaten their ability to survive as wild animals without intrusion of humans. They toss out pieces wheat into the snow during winter months simply bc food source becomes less nutritious , where they rely on bark from tree , grasses and limited variety of food. But it would be negative in long run for macaque if humans feed them and they depend on humans for food , lessening or losing ability to take care of themselves in their environment. I know it’s in our nature to want to provide food to the hungry but bc it promotes negative consequences for wild animals , it’s best not to and advised against
