To any viewers coming to terms with the finale of Finale, now is the perfect time to give MuseScore Studio a go - for free! Here's how to make your Finale music ready for MuseScore: musescore.org/en/node/14318
respectfully, and I love and use MuseScore every day, Finale is primarily an engraving tool and is able to do things that none of its competitors can and won't do for a while. The major segment of musicians who use it are engravers. For any one else who wants to write music and share it, MuseScore is a revelation. Keep up the great work Muse Team!
Any (legal and technical) chances that you can introduce a plugin for .mus-files that doesn't need the entire XML route? I have around 4.700 scores in 570 folders. If I'm going to convert those all into XMLs, I'm not done within a year. I'm perfectly okay with it being glitchy and having to do all of the layout myself all over again, knowing that you aren't miracle workers after all, altough it surely seems that way after what you've accomplished over the last few years with MuseScore. Like thousands of decade-long Finale users, I feel stabbed in the back and I am afraid to lose most of my works and ideas I've collected. We're really desperate.
@@soundtreks It's a fair point. However we have world-class engravers on the MuseScore Studio team, and we're determined to evolve MuseScore to a place where pro engravers can use it too - while still retaining our commitment to ease-of-use for beginners and dabblers. Watch this space!
@@InventorZahran In addition to what @thepotatoportal69 has said, you can also buy a package for just 20$ a month - forever, obviously - that also includes pro diacritics.
@@musescore Is there dynamics per note yet? As distinguished from play/not-play, and without the need for accent markings or whatever; I need the fine velocity control to make piano scores sound good.
@@musescore Something else keeping me on MuseScore 3 is the ability to adjust dynamics markings to specific volumes other than what comes with p, mp, mf, f, etc. For example, putting "più f" I would like to have a velocity of 104, which is in between f (96) and ff (112). Also, the sf dynamic seems to be broken in playback, as it makes my transcriptions sound softer rather than louder. The same happens with accent-staccato notes, and staccato-tenuto notes and marcato notes seem to not have any effect on the notes' durations in playback, rather than making them ¾ or 2/3 their standard durations like they do in MuseScore 3. I've been transcribing Bartók's piano music for years, and it's a great way to find problems with playback! For now, I'm still on MuseScore 3, but the automatic tempo changes, dynamics and pedal marking placement in the middle of note durations, and the app now being a Universal binary on macOS (!) make me sorely tempted to switch. Soon the time will come. Soon. But I also really don't want to part with the Salamander Grand Piano soundfont!

I have a question! When working with the musesounds library for guitar sounds, the notes don't linger. For example when you put two 8th notes next to each other, like D and G, the D string doesn't linger like on a normal guitar. It stops and then the G string gets plucked separately. I hope I explained my problem clear enough. But I'd like to know if there is a way to let that note linger without having to painstakingly add in extra notes and connect them with a line.
