I agree. I was born and raised in Miami. Moved just north of Palm Beach after Uni. If I want to visit Miami I drive down. It’s kind of like visiting London from the Cotswolds. I love it there but I couldn’t live there . Have you heard of the term “snow bird”. Here in Florida we have a massive influx of people from colder climates that move here for the winter months. As soon as the weather warms up they go back North. Which is good because the heat and humidity in the summer is pretty bad. Maybe that’s an option for you? You are young and blessed to have the ability to travel. Take advantage of that and see the world. Learn as much as you can about all the different cultures. If anything it makes for great conversations when you are old and gray. Love ya.
I think you will always be a London girl and that London is your homebase. But you've changed SO much in the past 1/2 years, maybe because you've become more of a "TikTok girlie" (I don't mean this in a bad way) and are much more open to new experiences, that I can see you adapting more easily to an American lifestyle and way of living. If you feel like going, go and spend some weeks there every season to see if you like it all year round! I believe having friends and family there really helps you feel less alone and more at home, so just try it 🤍
As a friend, I say go for it. If I could spend weeks at a time in other locations, I would. My spouse’s job requires him to be where we are, and soon mine will too. We live in a really small, rural area with not too much around, but we probably head off for at least 3-4 days every 2-3 months. Everyone is working within their means to make their dreams come true. Our dream jobs require us to be in one place, but our dreams of travelling are still coming into reach. Do what you can to achieve your goals and live your dream life ❤
Totally agree about the Shisedo foundation. I'm 44 and foundation can be really unflattering these days but the Shisedo one is fullproof. Will definitely repurchase
Hey Amelia, Happy Sunday! I think you should definitely use this time to explore what it's like to be colocated. It doesn't have to be a permanent move but I think it will open you up to so many wonderful new and, hopefully, exciting and healthy experiences. A different perspective is never a bad thing!
In recent years and since hitting 40, ive been LOVING Shiseido everything. In the summer I’d been using their skin tint for my daily and the synchro skin when going out!
Its so lovely to see you at peace, happy and enjoying your alone time after your grief over loosing Duke. Embrace every new thing and see what fits and suits you xx
Awe, Amelia! I live a couple blocks from the Setai, and I could tell you were staying there from your IG stories. Love that you enjoyed Miami. It’s true that not many people here really WORK work, lol… Haha I was at the same Reformation sample sale. And yes, our Trader Joe’s in South Beach is quite small. So nice to see you in my neighborhood, I’ve been following you since you were living with your parents. You even influenced me to spend my summers in London, as I’ve done the past three years. Last time I was there, you DM’ed me your favorite restaurants in Mayfair.
This was a great video. I noticed in your video list it’s been 7 years since you did your what I eat in a day video and it was very popular. I would love to hear an updated what I eat in a day video from you.
Yes, yes, yes... would love to have you in the US more. Traveling is so important in your personal growth. And... it can open up new perspectives of the world, views, and meeting new people who can bring new dimensions to your life. Plus, just getting out of your bubble and exploring new locations can be refreshing. New scenery and a different routine helps to keep life fresh and exciting. New adventures are always fun.
Loved the vlog. For some reason I totally see you living the US east coast life - NY, Hamptons and FL… it suits you. And you could get a visa really easily being a content creator. It would be such a fun adventure to follow!
❤ Miami. Moved there for my job. Lived there for 7 years. Met my husband there and our son was born there. Moved from there to California and now live back in my hometown Tampa. We have discussed moving back we loved it so much.
Spending time in a new place can help with grief and with resetting priorities if that’s needed, in my opinion. I liked your reaction when you came home to London. It tells me that you’re not trying to escape. You’re just trying to relax and feel better about a stressful end of the last year,as a friend that you never see or speak to lol. I’d offer this advice, listen to other peoples opinions like myself, but don’t take it on board right away. Size it up and see if it fits core Amelia’s personality and then consider implementing it.❤
I’m starting a new life as well and want to start over abroad also! I’m thinking Italy. Or Spain. I’ve never lived anywhere other than the U.S. but when you speak of the U.S. it made me smile cuz you love it and I want to move away (only bcuz of life events of my husband leaving me after 37yrs and admitting to me he’s cheated, done drugs(bad drugs; not just smoke pot) throughout our whole marriage 😢. So maybe I just want a whole new life & identity. It was nice to hear someone say nice things about the US though so thank you for that ❤
In terms of spending more time abroad, you may as well! You have the flexibility because of your work, you regularly travel anyway, plus you seem to have close friends/family in few different places in America so wherever you decide to go I don't think it'll be a massive adjustment apart from missing your friends and family in London that you see most often.
Coming from a true south Floridian who’s traveled everywhere - the best place in the states is by far south Florida. From palm beach to Miami. I would deff spend more time in Miami but not south beach. The design district and brickell are the best areas!! I’m all for you broadening your horizons 👏🏽👏🏽 NY & Cali just don’t do it anymore post covid. It’s not the same..
I totally agree with you, I’m from Brazil, but have lived in the US for over 5 years and have done day trips NYC multiple times and it just doesn’t hit anymore. NYC before Covid and after Covid is just so different. I miss NYC before Covid
I have a feeling you have new interests in NY? I lost my cat last may and i just keep on booking trips away.. so i hear you. Just follow your gut! And enjoy bc time flies!
I love you Amelia!!! I look forward to your videos every Sunday!! So happy you have been enjoying your time in Miami and can see yourself spending more time there! I live there (have lived here for the past 10 years) and personally love it. Of course, like every city, there are pros and cons, but the weather, diversity of people and things to do, and healthy active lifestyle are some of my favorite things. Have you explored more of Wynwood (arts district/going out), Design District (high-end shopping), Brickell (walkable city area with lots of high-rises, but also access to the waterfront which is great for walking around), or Coconut Grove (more of a family area with lots of great places to eat/waterfront drinks spots)? Outside of the beach, those are some areas I think you would like. I also think you would like Key Biscayne if you love walking along the beach so much. These are my thoughts as someone who has lived here for 10 years! Hope you come back soon and I can run into you some day! Have been watching you since your very first TH-cam video! I feel like you're my big sister sometimes!
I really enjoy your vlogs ❤ I would love to see you travel to a country you have never visited before. I think seeing you explore the country and the food would be fun to watch.
Are you a Virgo Rising? When you talked about contemplating new routines and changes in your day to day life I was like ‘she must have had last weeks new moon in Aquarius in her 6th house’. 😊❤️
Yes! Rent a condo in NYC or Miami for 6 months...just to clear your head. Losing Duke and breaking up with beau ( even tho' amicable) is ALOT...sometimes you just need to clear your head. ❤
I got a tester of this foundation after your recommendation last time but it breaks me out 😭 I loved the texture and how light weight it was. Do you know any similar products?
Good morning! I’m from Miami, lived there for over 30 years and I would NOT make it my permanent home again. It’s nice to vacation but the real Miami is congested, lots of rude and unfriendly people and an abundance of shady things go on. It’s just my opinion of course. I would rather live in NY or LA. Have a nice week!
Keep traveling as long as you want. Live in the US for a few months. Between New York and Miami. Rent a place or Airbnb. Experience life and dating somewhere new. The ability to travel so easily is freeing. Take advantage of it.
Try Monroe Steel she bought a place in Miami Beach and she is a fashion influencer! If you watch her vlogs you will see the different events that are there!
Hi from Ponte Vedra FL. I'm with you walking on the beach with your coffee is relaxing. Where we live we are close to butler beach. I think you would enjoy the longer summer months.
I think a stint in the US would be absolutely amazing! You could bounce between NY, MIA, and LA and it would be such a cool thing for us to witness ☺☺ Also, in Miami I don't know if you've been to the Design District yet, it's nice to pass through. Also the streets say Wynwood is a vibe but I personally haven't been there yet. There's a lot of nice parts in Coral Gables as well. If you get a chance, maybe pop down to Key West and stay at a boutique hotel x
You are looking so good matey - you are smashing life 🤩🤩 I think losing Duke will always hit your heart my darling, he was yr bestie for a long time ❤️❤️❤️
For me personally i feel that i want to live more for myself at this point and i felt like maybe this crossroads might be about that too. But i say: do what feels good for you! ❤
Pura Vida is my favorite! I live in Jupiter. Town where Tiger Woods lives and a lot of famous golfers. It's about 140km North of Miami. So happy you love Miami! ❤
I hope you don’t mind me saying but there is a sense that you are avoiding being at home because home reminds you of duke. It sounds like you’re running away? Just a thought.. but do hope you find your happiness wherever that maybe!! X
Hi Amelia, i think the world is your oysters and if you have the means to live abroad and flying back and forth, this might be the best time for you (before settling down with family). Live ur best life girl...❤
I agree. Florida as a state is so much fun to see and explore. It's a great holiday location. I especially love Key West and parts along the West Coast. But I would never move there. Some of my American friends and family have made the adjustment to Florida. Most have not and left. None of my European or British friends lasted more than 2 years. I met a great South African couple that are happy there, but they have the right attitude and sense of humour about life in Florida, and life in South Africa is tough, by comparison. The world is your oyster Amelia. Go have fun. I split my time between countries and highly recommend it if you can.
