My favorite FF character, even more so than anyone in 7 (although Zack is #2.) I can just relate to her so much, it makes me cry every time I hear her theme. She's so tough on the outside, she's not used to anyone seeing her have a soft side. Her only closes companion in her grandfather, Cid, and when she fails to care for him...it breaks my heart.

Nobuo Uematsu is a genius. Jeremy Jahns said it right when he compared Uematsu taking the FF VI OST to the SNES soundchip to Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel with a box of crayons.

Don't understate the snes soundchip, it was very good for its time and it still can produce instruments with a very decent sound quality. Just listen to the Chrono Trigger OST, the instruments sound very good. Compare it to the YM2612 that was used by the Sega Genesis. That one is basically chiptune. I'm not degrading chiptune music though, I'm just saying that the SPC700 used in the SNES actually tried to replicate instruments and it did it quite well.

+repinscourge I am 32 and I remember for my birthday going to the local game shop, had never played a Final Fantasy game before and I saw the cover of FF3 and tried it out and it was a total different genre than anything I had played. I got it, and never looked back. I put probably 60+ hours in that game leveling each character to 99 and getting all the esper magic for each. Still my favorite game of all time and still have that same cartridge (although I let my brother lend it to a friend of his and he erased my save games)>:\

This was one of my favorite parts of the game. This game had one of the deepest and best stories i've ever played. Was sung so beautifully, what a great job. *applause*

What a good time this was for videogames. This was the time in which they fought with all their heart to make the point that videogames are art as well. Squaresoft has been an instrumental company in that fight, awakening sensibilities for this new form of expression in millions of people, including myself. I remember getting the chills in the opera scene or just going to the world map and listening to the wonderful Terra's theme.
You know, I was playing that scene right now in my gba, and I was wondering if this was made in real life, look on youtube and click in this video, when the singer start singing I just cry, I can't believe it how beautiful this is. This would be wonderful if one day square enix make this game like ff7 it would be a dream come true.
I would love to see this live sometime in Canada this whole scene in the game when I was a kid was incredible and even got to play a part of it during the event. This will always be one of the most memorable moments for me
one of the best ff. every single character was deep and fascinating, true sentiments all over the game. the icing on the cake as for most of ff is the music of course, this bring us back in a fairy word were loyalty and belonging still live strong! it is not just a game.
I know how you feel, although they have been increasing in terms of producing more shows, its just a shame I, like you, rarely have the money to buy the tickets on the day (last time I had the money they were sold out within 2 hours of sales starting so I missed my chance). On the bright side, I now know when they next do one to camp the ticket website so when the ticket sales open I am there to buy the ticket.
The Re-Play orchestra is touring right now. I'm gonna see them when they come to Phoenix over the summer! But they have a bunch of different cities they'll be visiting this year. Same with Video Games Live, I think... but they won't be in Phoenix... : /

Celes and Locke, possibly best FF6 pairing EVER! Sorry Tidus/Yuna and Cloud/Tifa fans, but how many opera-backstage scenes did they have? None, that's how many.
The beuty of it is they never end up being an actual couple. All the right prerequisites are there but it's never finalized within the game since so much happens to them. They don't have time for real romance to unfold. None of the characters did. They were preoccupied saving the world and when that failed, they did their best to save what little piece of it was left after Kefka destroyed it. FF VI is the ultimate masterpiece of Squaresoft imo. All other games and all other FF games pale in comparison. This is for me because of many reasons but one stark reason is that, while all other villians in all the other games tried to either enslave or destroy the world during the events of the game, Kefka is the only one that managed to both destroy and enslave it. Yes you could say that Yu Yevon enslaved the world basically in FF X but he did so about 1000 years before the events of the game take place so you're cast into that.

I imagine the only thing they would do would be alter the fight mechanics. Although maybe it would be like the upcoming FF7 remake in that ATB is still an option.... but the Opera scene... omg that would look glorious with modern graphics and most likely sound something like this video.
