  • Chayatsuji Kimono | Hakama Series | Men | 3 ways to tie the hakamahimo
Hakamahimo or the cords of the hakama, can be tied in various ways, these three are the most common/standard ones.
"Musubi-kiri" or end knot, is a very simple and suited for casual occasions
"Ichimonji" or "one knot" resembles the kanji character for "1", which seems to be used for casual and/or semi-formal occasions
"Juumonji" or "ten knot" resembles the kanji character for "10" and is used in formal occasions.
All in all they are pretty easy to tie, however it does require the first set of hakamahimo to be tied tightly in order to have the knots stay in place. The knot may lose shape or fall apart if either one of the sets of hakamahimo is not tied tightly.
Thank you very much for watching!

Thanks to you, and a slight variation, I'm now being able to tight this way a regular martial arts belt, obtaining the doubleness of the belt for a tight katana hold! So happy about it! Thanks a lot! 😀

Internet mostly. Specific kimono selling websites like Ichiroya, various eBay sellers and YJA (Yahoo Japan Auctions) that is a bit like a Japanese eBay ^^
I sadly don't really get the chance to buy things in person. There are a few stores scattered across my country but they provide an extremely small amount which most of them is too small for me anyway.
