  • In this video I preform a 500 hr service on a 2018 Volvo L90H loader. I show how to do a parked regeneration, the oil and fuel filter changes and bleeding. I also go over acknowledging the service interval warning. once the hour clock went over 500 the next service interval changed to 1000 and time residing started at 500 hours again. you hold the wrench button to enter service mode and then acknowledge the service interval. Then you hold the wrench again to exit service mode. There is a little wrench in the upper right corner of the screen and the screen background color changes to tell you your in service mode. I attribute my successes to god and give him the glory.

    Good video thanks. Any suggestions on how to reduce or muffle the reverse beeper?

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can’t recommend disabling the reverse beeper because if anything happens to anyone there gonna point out the reverse beeper not working right and try to make the operator responsible regardless of if the person should have been there or not. But they do make a different back up alarm that makes a crunching sound. There not as annoying as the beeping. They kinda chhh-chhh. I guess it’s more of a white noise. Here is a link to an osha article discussing back up alarms. www.osha.gov/laws-regs/standardinterpretations/2004-09-27. I tried to find the other type of back up alarm for you but I couldn’t. Thanks for watching

      How are those new H series loaders been?

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have a little over 1100 hours and the only problem we had was a def tank level armature needed to be replaced. Aside from that the only other complaint would be that they are slow over the road. The government said any vehicle that travels over 19 mph needs an air bag so it is speed rated at 19mph.

    Hey mate, do you know how to bypass the auto idle shutdown. I have two minutes of idle before it shuts down, we use the L90H on the Oil rigs and it is a pain in the ass having it shut down after 2 minutes

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t know off hand how to do it. If you hold the wrench button down it goes into service mode and there might be something in there to shut it off. We had the 2 minute shut down where it would throw a service message if it was shut off before the ok message but the service tech came for a warranty call and turned it off with his scan tool. I didnt ask him how to do it without a scan tool if it was possible. The idle time is to let the turbo cool down so the oil won’t sit in a hot turbo and cause the oil to burn in there. There is a way to turn it off but I’m not sure how to do it.

      So did you initiate shutdown first and then receive a service message when shut off before the okay?

      I just looked and I couldn’t find it either. I would call Volvo and ask them. The Volvo service tech was here working on that one for a def sender level issue and I didn’t notice him taking the interior apart to link to it. I don’t have a scan tool for them so I haven’t needed to use it.

      @@JasonTheMunicipalMechanic ok after speaking to a tech at my local Volvo dealership, it turns out it is there behind the panel where the fuses are. I just didn't expect it to be a totally different diag port style than most of our other equipment brands which have the same round shapped port. But thank you for your time.

      I know our backhoes take 10w-40 in the hydraulic tank but I wouldn’t use that in a transmission unless it called for it.

    • @MelGibsonFan
      @MelGibsonFan ปีที่แล้ว

      I made the mistake of using hydraulic fluid for the transmission. From what the book says they seem to be similar although I don’t know if Volvo would endorse that. Our mechanic said they could be interchangeable to some extent. @@JasonTheMunicipalMechanic

    • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic
      @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve used hydraulic fluid in some equipment transmissions in the past because the guy training me said that’s what to use. It seemed ok until the backhoe (cat 446b) transmission started overheating and getting a lot of metal shavings in the transmission. It had about 7000 hrs and was drivin around a lot so I don’t know if it was just normal time to need a rebuild or if it was from the hydraulic oil. Since then I only use what’s called for. They were putting hydraulic oil in the trans for quite a long time so it might have not been the problem and could be perfectly fine, I don’t know but I always verify the manufacturer specs are listed on the container now. The loader (John Deere 624) never had a problem with hydraulic fluid in the transmission.
