I'm curious, are you allowed to make repairs on these types of homes? e.g. repair crumbling stone & mortar and (what apprears to be) damaged plaster on the inside?
Thanks for your questions. Almost all of the castles and chateaux for sale are listed/protected structures so different rules will apply depending on which country the property is in. However, as a general rule, repairs can be made to ensure the property remains habitable - albeit within the rules of whichever body oversees listed buildings in that country e.g. if you were making a repair to mortar or stone, you would be expected to use the same types of materials as those already in place. Depending on their historical value, some properties may be protected externally (i.e. you can't do anything to change the external appearance) but you have much more freedom internally whilst the most important structures have a lot of restrictions relating to what you can do to them.

I was afraid the interior would be terrible, not so bad...just the music as bad as usual, terrible, turn off the sound, much better like that ! How mych is the annual heating bill ?
1.9million euros+ commission for a Vsmall castle In the middle of no where stated as needing restoration. I bet the current owners picked it up for 600,000 euros or far less.

The location, at the heart of one of the most scenic and desirable parts of Italy (and arguably Europe) is simply spectacular so to purchase not just any property but a habitable castle is a rare opportunity indeed. Because of the island location it is probably better suited as a holiday and weekend home however it will tick a lot of boxes for buyers based in Milan and of course it's not too far for buyers from Swizterland too. I figure around 1million would be a fairer price for a Castello on a island only accessible by boat about 50km or so to the nearest airport& over 100km to Milan , but turns out the island was voted 3rd most popular tourist resort in Europe Which changes everything, so a price near 1.9million is likely what you will get
