      Mario Løvseth The looper helps Cap a lot ... he often has problems with timing when playing against Rob (not saying that it's his fault rather than Rob's but it is noticeable).

    These guitars have great versatility. Marc came to my shop and demoed them for our customers and after his demo, we sold 3 of them. Highly underrated guitars.

    This guitar needs a proper entry level version equivalent to the 100&200 acoustic series. It just sits in an awkward price bracket where not enough people are comfortable shopping in and those who are already have 5+ guitars.

    I just still prefer this to a Fender Acoustasonic, but that's me. The warmth and richness of this instrument is great. Sounds refined too

      Me too. Once I saw this guitar (and its variations) I can't go back to looking at a Fender as they look like a "Fisher Price My First Guitar".

    A couple of weeks ago, I went to a pro blues jam where one player had a T5z. He played everything on it from Delta-style to jump blues to Voodoo Child. It all sounded perfectly convincing and authentic

    This has to be one of the best Danish & Captain uploads ever - certainly a match for the more recent Acoustasonic jam and review. No unnecessary looning around which Chappers always seems to 'inspire' - just damn good tests, chat and jams. Look at DP's smile at 20.14 when Marc is ripping out some classic Eagles .... magic. 10/10.
    I have a T5z Cocobolo but the body sensor has failed, so no differences between settings 1 and 2. Has anyone else encountered that problem, I wonder? No idea if it can be changed - I looked under the hood and it's bonded in place VERY securely. I reckon that if it can be replaced it would be best to disconnect and attach a replacement in a nearby position. Soddit.

    Don't knock em until you try one. I own an '06 T5-S1. An amazing playing guitar. It really is the best of both worlds. T5's are pretty much the Swiss Army Knife guitar. It may not be exceptional at both electric and acoustic, but it does do both quite well.

  • @jetwoman10001

    I have one and I love it! I play it through a Fender Accoustic Junior Go and use a Boss Loop Station RC 5 to lay down arpeggiated chords and then play lead similar to in this video. The tone is beautiful. Usually playing on settings one or two. Yes, it's kind of pricey but if you buy over time on a no interest deal it is doable. I sold all my other Taylors except for a couple of GS Minis.

    I have owned a Acoustasonic and I sold it because I also owned a Taylor T5z Classic Sassafras. I thought the Fender had wonderful tones, but the one I had was not up to the quality of the Taylor. The Fender had major fret problems and I don’t mind doing a setups on a new guitar but I had to really work on getting the frets to the point it wasn’t cutting into my hands. But even after getting the neck right on the Fender, I chose the Taylor. The Taylor T5z is an amazing instrument with tones that satisfy my soul.

    I own a T5z - in fact I got it when Marc stopped by our local music store for a Taylor Road Show. I love mine...it's become my open mic warrior. Easily one of the best necks of all my instruments. They are a little pricey...so...since the top wood on these is basically only aesthetic...I opted for the "classic" model to save some $$$.

    • @stephenlennartz3466
      @stephenlennartz3466 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ed. I am going to the Taylor Road Show in St. Louis next week specifically to check out this model. I'm looking for ways to downsize hauling so much gear and cover all the bases tone-wise--a single 'do it all' guitar would help. So as you are approaching one year ... do you love your Taylor? Anything you don't like about it? Are you splitting between PA or something like a Fishman for acoustic and dedicated electric guitar amp for your electric tone? What else can you tell me? Thanks so much! ; )

    So, essentially, this is a more expensive version of Ibanez Montage. Still, I like the idea quite a lot, and it's cool to see that Taylor avoids the mistakes Ibanez made with the Montage.

    Taylor promoted these instruments as the 'Swiss army knife' of guitars when they first came out and they still do. I find them to be beautifully designed and constructed instruments, but they do neither the acoustic or the electric thing quite well enough. And to be able to do both as well as possible you need two amps, one an electric guitar amp and one an acoustic. Or at least two signal paths such as a miked electric amp and a direct to P.A. feed.

    • @OtherTheDave
      @OtherTheDave 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Terry Relph-Knight Well, yeah... A huge part of the electric guitar sound is the speaker cutting out all the highs, and huge part of the acoustic guitar sound is the sparkly highs. The closest you’ll come to one rig for both is an amp like Rivera’s Sedona or Sedona Lite, which have a tweeter that’s only active on one of the amp’s two channels.

  • @yamahamusicians

    @joevalente8451 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Worth noting that these are T5zs, not T5s: Slightly smaller body and more electric neck than the original T5, and medium jumbo frets vs much smaller frets on the T5. The way I think about it is, the T5 is ideal for acoustic players who want to go electric, while the T5z is more for the electric player how wants to go acoustic. I've owned both, but, being more of an electric player, I do not regret trading my T5 for a T5z.

    Beautiful guitars but my Godin A6 ultra is a third of the price and does a more convincing acoustic sound.

    • @ronzinale
      @ronzinale 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Catherine Faulkner can you tell me the difference between an A6 and a multiac steel?

    • @TeleCathster
      @TeleCathster 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alessandro Ronchi I’ve not played the multiac steel but looking at the specs I think that is designed to be a thin bodied electro acoustic, doesn’t have a sound hole so therefore more resistant to feedback but only has the acoustic voice.
      Where as the Godin A6 ultra is a two voiced instrument. I can get both an acoustic and electric sound out of it. It has dual outputs so one go to electric amp and other to pa and I can either switch between them or blend the two. I personally use this in a live worship setting where I need to cover both acoustic and electric parts at the same time if we only have a few band members that particular week. By modifying my playing style slightly I can get the acoustic rhythm and still play the lead line licks. Front of house gets the two instruments so one person one guitar sounds like two. Hope that helps.

    • @ronzinale
      @ronzinale 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TeleCathster Thanks! I'm looking for a guitar that does the acoustic and the electric overdriven parts in the same songs (with an a/b box that switch the line from acoustic out to distortion one). Like Anouk's "nobody's Wife", for instance. It seems the A6 is a great choice, but I cannot find a video with a demonstration of that trick. Nobody on youtube's seems to use the Godin to strum, also. A lot of jazzy demos, but nothing more. Do you have a video of your performances?

    • @TeleCathster
      @TeleCathster 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alessandro Ronchi the Godin a6 ultra will suit you well then. I don’t use an a/b box just simply a volume pedal then I can fade in electric or take it out . Acoustic I usually have running all the time. But if I did only want electric then I simply use the volume control for the acoustic pickup on the guitar to mute the acoustic. But having a volume pedal I think is just easier live so you could run two volume pedals one from each output of the guitar as there are two mono outputs, As if you had two separate rigs and fade each one in and out which would make a smoother transition than a/b box would IMO.

    • @TeleCathster
      @TeleCathster 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another option which I tried is the Crafter SAT Also very good guitar for the money. I just preferred the look and feel of the Godin a bit more but it was more expensive than the Crafter however the difference was marginal and I had the money to spend. But if you’re on a. Budget look for a Crafter SAT.

      Hey Thomas, I stumbled upon your comment while listening the these guys jam, they are so good! My name is Marc, I am the product specialist for Taylor Guitars in this video. I just wanted to apologize if in some unforseen way, I took away from your enjoyment of this video. I had a great time hanging with the fellows and I was hopeful people would enjoy it. I'm not trying to be cool (clearly as I am wearing a beanie as someone else pointed out, lol). To clarify, I am truly a fan of Taylor guitars and the T5. I have played Taylor Guitars long before I was asked to demo them. That said, I am not trying to sell you, rather I am trying to enjoy music and fine guitars with others. Expose some people to a guitar they might not otherwise know about. I love that we are all music fans. With all the negativity in the world, I am simply grateful to come together, play music, laugh and enjoy each others gifts and talents. Hope to see you on the road someday. Wishing you well.

From the last few weeks I'm seeing your TH-cam videos on T5z and other TH-cam videos on T5z because in our local shop they don't have T5z (so that I can plan all by my own). local shops don't even have other taylor guitars as they an pretty expensive guitar to middle class Indian but I'm saving some money from my salary and in few months, I will buy this versatile guitar. Anyway, Thanks for all the demos of T5z from you and Taylor company. Keep it up.

      I disagree, maybe it's because I own one and gigged with it for years. Throw some 'custom light' acoustic strings on it, sounds great and doesn't fatigue my hand/wrist after a 4 hour gig. Also they're great for quiet hotel practice when I'm traveling for work.

      SO is that a good thing or a bad thing?

      I’d say saying it is both an acoustic and an electric and does both equally well is in fact a misrepresentation. Seriously? But saying it its own sound and an interesting instrument is true. I would go for it but if you are trying to sell this as replacing my Martin and my Tely, I say, no way!
