    I really enjoyed your video- I have been attending Tucson for 20 years. I had an art gallery business but not anymore. This year didn't get to inside Jogs or Pueblo but found my joy at 22nd street and Electric Park. I always enjoy gem mall. And I really enjoyed the outside of Jogs. All my art shows have been cancelled this year but I was invited to become a member of a popular artist co-op that is just beginning. When a door closes a window opens........ahhhh feel the breeze. xo

      It must be one of the greatest feelings in the world to find them especially if you were allowed to own them unfortunately probably over 90% of the people my name I getting paid a few dollars by the day and don’t get any benefits from finding fantastic pieces which are sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars

    The Amethyst geodes - cement are added on the back and base
    then painted black.
    So it can stand and display by itself. Also to protect and reinforce the crystal so matrix plate does not break easily.
    Or sometimes pieces are pieced together and cement together

  • @biancap3943

    I was watching a video on jtv I believe, where they were talking to this brazilian lady who imports amethyst cathedrals. She said that they need to be cast in some sort of concrete type mix to keep the amethyst together otherwise they break into pieces when they’re extracted. They paint over the concrete layer, so that’s why they have that funky black stuff on all of them.

    Green stuff outside of amethyst is copper-rich quartz, and geodes naturally have a black rocky surface like that. I don't know if it's paint.

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      thank you so much on the information about the green stuff outside of the amethyst but I know they paint them for a fact because I've watched them do itnot to say that some geodes don't have the black stuff on the outside but I have seen them paint the larger amethyst from Uruguay and Brazil right there at the gemshow another commenter suggested that perhaps it was a fiberglass paint that actually stabilizes the geode I'm not sure that sounds like a great idea but I have watched some dudes from Brazil paint the geodes black last year at the gem show thank you so much for watching I really appreciate it

    The Orange pretending to be Citrine is Amethyst that is Radiated/heated, not just heated. It always seemed strange to me because I love purple over orange any day.

    I’m so torn on the titanium plating, because it *is* really neat looking, but there’s undoubtedly something much better that’s been covered up... actually, the titanium plating on those horses, penises and skulls seemed like perhaps the best application of the technique. I ended up with some quartz points with a titanium finish, and I’m considering slicing them up and polishing both surfaces so there’s just a thin rainbow rim around a mostly clear hexagon.

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a pretty cool idea working those titanium plated stones I have noticed that some of the titanium plating is done to less than desirable crystals stones that have a lot of fractures or that are already chipped up they could cover it up by the planting some other stones that aren’t even crystals but are Quatzie in nature they plate for their larger titanium plate it’s sculpture stuff like the penises and that horse which wouldn’t look good at all withoutthe plating which is why they have a lot of facets all of them from whoever

I also think the heat treated amethyst are freaking stupid as hell I would never buy one, natural is the way to go I hate treated crystals and I would never buy one.

      Mattatron Millerite The people that buy the large polished crystals in the heat treated amethyst by at 95% of the time because either they Do not know it is he treated or they plan on selling it to people that do not know it’s he treated or polished a large part of the reason why they paint the geodes black is because they actually shape the backs of the Geo to make them rounded they are often not rounded and they might be a lot more matrix then there is courts sometimes 10 times more matrix in court so they carve it into a shell like shape and they painted to hide the cuts in the grinding marks sometimes they take the time to polish the outside but I’m sure they have to charge more money for all that time that they take polishing it I appreciate you commenting and I really appreciate your passion and can definitely relate thank you so much my friend

    Isn’t natural citrine just crystal that has been naturally heated by the earth? So in saying that lab heated citrine is still citrine but just man made rather than fake.. 🤨 personally I don’t vibe with either lol 😂
