Pecos Hank single handedly sparked my absolute fascination with weather. He showed me that its both beautiful and terrifying. Its a dichotomy that just makes no sense and hence the fascination with its randomness. Hank, if you're ever in east Oklahoma id love to just spend 5 minutes thanking you for your kind soul.
Pecos is the best. Just the fact that he doesn't yell on his videos sets him apart from the rest of the storm chasers. He doesn't seem all jacked up on red bull
As a MidWesterner, I can really appreciate this video. I loved to sit on the porch for a good thunderstorms. And count my blessings to have never been in a tornado.
fellow midwesterner here ✌️ as a child i went outside when i saw lightning hoping i could get struck. not sure if that’s funny or sad. maybe a bit of both. it’s definitely true, though lol. i guess at the time i just through it would be.. exciting.. electrifying.. if you will. heh
As a South American, I can’t imagine how it must be to live in the Midwest of the US. January of this year, my town was hammered by an supercell. I was frozen in place because I was seeing with my own eyes the same structures I used to watch on channels like Pecos Hank. The mesocyclone passed over me, and thank god there were no touchdowns.
I love that you (Joe) realizes that we are not our thoughts. As soon as you said that I blurted out "Parts Therapy Baby!" I've been working on IFS with my therapist and OMG it has been so helpful.
Two of my favorite TH-camrs… Life is good. As a child tornados terrified me. Now I love them. My closest “encounter” is my highest viewed video on TH-cam. Nothing compared to Pecos Hank but got my heart rate up nonetheless.
Subscribed to the first two, as well as Pecos Hank, but I'll have to check out John Michel Godier. Also, I found some of the history creators also have soothing voices, such as History Time, Voices of the Past, North02, and Stefan Milo. Also, Ancient Architects. ✌️😎
When my father was young they had a tornado hit the family farm. They found some straws of hay that appeared to go through the phone pole outside. I’m sure that pole was hit by a lot of hay being it was a farm. We always assumed that maybe the extreme winds in addition to giving even a straw of hay a lot of momentum maybe caused pores in the pole to open because of the twisting action of the winds….?
JOE, THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT, KEEP PROMOTING THIS CHANNEL ON YOUR MAIN CHANNEL. NO SHAME. ok i’ll stop yelling now. seriously, though! i watch all of your videos on your main channel and TMI, didn’t know about this channel! so fun watching/listening to podcasts where creative passionate minds just bounce ideas off of each other. i listen to simplypodlogical a lot as well.. i live in a small town that’s equally small-minded in bumfucknowhere wisconsin. looove being able to hear progressive conversations and learn something new! thanks for sharing! thanks for being you and sharing your art with the world. so many fake people in this area, it’s a breath of fresh air to feel surrounded by decent level-minded people who give a shit about life as we know it. hope you have a great day!
I remember that my fascination with these events also started with hail! I remember being on the backseat of my father’s car, we were going back home, from a trip to my grandmas hometown. Suddenly the car started to get hammered by giant hail. There were no place to hide, no gas station. My father just stopped by the side of the road and waited for the storm to pass. I was about 4 years old at the time.
Pecos!!! The man, the legend! I've been subbed to his channel for years! He brings such a great perspective on how chasing can be. He's also one hell of a guitar player.
Both of you did a fine job with this podcast; in his videos Hank keeps his focus on what is in his viewfinder and in this podcast you almost can get a sense of what could come up in conversation if you were on a road trip with him between storms. Again, good work from both of you.
I had no idea you had a podcast until you posted the clip of this episode on your main channel. I love you and Pecos Hank so this is a perfect pairing for me. Keep up the great work
I’ve always been fascinated with tornadoes. Intellectually I understand they must be terrifying and they could destroy me in a second but Im desperately drawn to them and I completely understand the storm chasers. Unfortunately I was born and still live in the middle of the UK. I’ve possibly seen every type of rain there is but that’s about it! I often wonder about the life that the American me would have lived (my parents almost emigrated there when I was a very young child). Thankyou so much for these videos. It keeps me going on the hard days ☺️
I feel like you guys made a real connection here. And I feel like that's part of the reason I watch both your channels. Yeah, sure, Pecos Hank has amazing footage (and amazing narration and original music), and you have really good science-communicator content, but I feel like there's a reason I watch you guys beyond just what I get from the videos themselves. I feel like you guys are just good genuine dudes trying to do the best you can. So much of the mainstream stuff just has actors obviously on drugs, giant sets and production apparatus from some giant media company they don't own, and/or they're specifically targeting children who don't know any better. And needless to say I don't subscribe to them. You guys are the real deal. And I can't put into words how much I appreciate it.
How cool to be able to watch a conversation of angular momentum between two of my favorite creators! I’ve actually at one point been a Patreon member to both of you guys, and will again when I can.
Hank is awesome, i like this Guy. He's by far the honest and postive minded person i've seen on Stormchase. Everytime he shows up on his Friends Livestreams in the Field he brings fun to everybody. If you like to hear more about Stormchase and interesting People who do this, look for Stormchaser Daniel Shaw he a Australian that flys over to USA every Year for 3 Months and drives around in his trusty RAV 4 and chases Severe Weather document it and Livestream it to his Audience. He also has a lot awesome and dramatic Storys to tell. Also how to handle destruction and how to be able to offer help. to those in direct need with S&R. He's a great friend of Hank Schyma. So you would find also a great Partner for conversations and Nerdy techy stuff.
Controled tangents can actually add some extra color and can lead to fun off shoots the speaker can tie into their experience related to the topic. Also the more fun you and the speaker are having the more fun your audience will have listening/ watching. Break out of your shell. Well done like the content. Dont be afraid to have fun bro! Just controlled fun haha
Stormchasers are the most badass crazy rock 'n roll semi-scientists around. If it weren't for them literally driving into the storm and documenting plus shooting all sorts of sciencedevices into the vorteces, we would know a lot less about the phenomenon.
When they were talking about how galaxies and supercells do the same thing spiraling was going into a Tool song😂. Great podcast and learned alot. Wished I had known about the gnome think as its late in life and I truly have a deep seeded hate for myself. Need to get rid of it cuz not much sand left in the hourglass😒
If all of the wind turbines rotated in the opposite direction, would they induce anticyclonic vorticity and reduce the incidence or intensity of tornadoes.
Joe you frequently mention your "many minds" way of thinking, here it's has evolved to "Gnome Theory", please check out Internal Family Systems. It's a type of therapy, but can be expanded as a framework of the mind. The creator of it Richard Schwartz even expands it to larger systems such as companies and countries. It's essentially a well formulated version of the movie Inside Out. Since you always speak in that way of "well, part of me.." I always wanted to mention it. Could make for a video maybe, maybe not

This. I would be screaming like a dying bird. I would never subject anyone to that.

Two of my favourite TH-camrs in conversation. Pure joy. Thanks guys.

If I fall asleep to Joe Scott, Isaac Arthur, or John Michael Godier I end up having really strange dreams, but all of your voices make me feel safe.
Subscribed to the first two, as well as Pecos Hank, but I'll have to check out John Michel Godier. Also, I found some of the history creators also have soothing voices, such as History Time, Voices of the Past, North02, and Stefan Milo. Also, Ancient Architects. ✌️😎
@Pecos Hank dude, you have a sweet attitude to life. care for humanity, respect for nature and the enthusiasm to act on both

Thank you for doing this podcast with him. I was looking for something long format with Pecos Hank and this was awesome!

Well, now I'm a sub of Pecos Hank.
Great conversation. I really enjoyed being the fly on the wall.
Pecos!!! The man, the legend! I've been subbed to his channel for years! He brings such a great perspective on how chasing can be. He's also one hell of a guitar player.
Loved the bit about mindfulness.

Joe thanks so much for uploading these to TH-cam, I enjoy your videos so much & this long-form content is right up my alley

You are my 2 favorites on TH-cam. I relate to each in a different way and to see you guys interact was great!
Great interview. How is this not more viewed is beyond me.

If Wayne Coyne became a storm chaser he'd be Pecos Hank.
Great show. That hour and 21 minutes passed really fast. Not many videos ever do that for me. Will be watching the rest of your interviews as well.

Nice! I love his videos. So random you have him on, thanks!
something I miss here in Europe, big storms, I love storms. But maybe it would be less fun, once I experience a big storm.
Joe, this is an awesome format... I can't wait to watch the rest of them! So so so good.
some great words in the last quarter! great one
RE: Thought. Joe, you should read "The Chimp Paradox". It gives a good grounding for all that you and Pecos were talking about towards the end there.
Good thing you posted clip from this podcast on your main channel. Otherwise i might have missed this episode
This podcast syle you got Joe is topp of the world,, i like it,,,
thank you Joe thank you hank. brilliant men
The youtube crossover I never knew I needed. ♥️♥️♥️
Wow, so looking forward to catching up on these 5ish new shows!!
Stormchasers are the most badass crazy rock 'n roll semi-scientists around. If it weren't for them literally driving into the storm and documenting plus shooting all sorts of sciencedevices into the vorteces, we would know a lot less about the phenomenon.
I don't comment much but I really like that 1 hours
I subscribed to his channel after this video!
You must have been living in the cave top find Pecos Hank only 2021, lol. Found him ~8 years ago after El Reno tornado.
Love you boys
I'd think that with tornadoes, it's more like "angrier momentum"... 😆
And more, more meteorological data PLZ!😁🤞😁
Consider making him a regular or a stand in when someone cancels
I expected this podcast to start with Hank picking up some bug and giving a fact about it.
If all of the wind turbines rotated in the opposite direction, would they induce anticyclonic vorticity and reduce the incidence or intensity of tornadoes.

WHAT MOVIE IS HE WORKING ON?!
I think he referred to it as "Supercell".
One of these days astronauts are going to land on Uranus
Listening to this in bed, and suddenly very uncomfortable. 😅
You should go outside in Oklahoma right now, LOL y'all!🤣⛈️🌪️⛈️🤣
Respect the nature's. 😁
Oh and your storm seller sucked!🤣
oh i didn't know coldfusion is a dj
I watches his channel and it's cool.
"I didn't make that noise though..."😅😅😅
1:14:16 well, you tried :p
Critical thinking and skeptical thinking. For me those equal science.
Had to stop watching at like 15 minutes. Wanted to hear more from Hank and much less from Joe. Disappointing
You should go watch the rest of it. There is plenty from Hank and some of the best part of the conversation is towards the end.
