I just got a Toyota Highlander, and I love it! But every time I see another one on the road, I just out of my car and run it through with my sword, because THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!!!
I actually saw one of these yesterday.. its very stylish and much better looking. Looks more masculine and bold. I like it. The steering wheel and the whole interior looks great. A big thing I noticed is the gear selector next to the cup holders is almost if not identical to Lexus models !
We are in our second day of owning a HIGHLANDER and love it. We traded our Ford F-450 Crew Cab Dually and Holiday Rambler Presidential Fifth Wheel. This is our first non-dually in 19 years. We also own a 2012 Toyota Camry, our second Camry in a row. Our 2014 HIGHLANDER gives us a posh look, with sporty and stable manuervering. Last night seeing it after dark made me realize how safe this vehicle is as compared to others. The wrap around tailights produce a great display of red lights and the high beams added to the racing lights light up the dark like no other vehicle I have ever owned. Standing down at the bottom of our long driveway, the front lights were blinding. The large seating capacity is a plus, but more so the large cargo area when the rear seat is folded down. The ease of folding is a plus. If this 2014 HIGHLANDER gives us the trouble free operation our two Camrys have given, we are going to own two winners. The TOYOTA dealership in Venice, Florida provides the feel of a high end dealership to the patron.
I really enjoyed this review. Though I recently purchased an 09 AWD V6 Venza that I absolutely LOVE, I really like the new model highlander in the platinum trim. I never buy new due to rapid depreciation, but in a few years I might look into getting one. I think you do excellent unbiased reviews and enjoy ED with you as the host. It doesn't hurt that in this episode that you had Drew as your companion. She's super cute and really knowledgeable about the highlander.
According to the specs, the Highlander has more legroom than the Edge, Explorer, Sorento, and Santa Fe among others. The last gen Highlander had more leg room too even though it's about 1 inch less than the current one. I sat in an Explorer and and Edge and thought the leg room for someone 6' 2" could have been better. In fact the Escape has the same legroom and the bigger Ford SUVs.
ok, so this guy just compared the highlander to the 4runner as an offroader...... the highlander no matter what trim level you get, is mainly focussed as a commuter vehicle, it has all wheel drive for the purpose of slippery travel conditions. but these are extremely basic capabilities compared to the ones of the 4runner. the 4runner has the ability to be a great family commuter as well, but is designed to be an off roader, this is why it has stuck to its body on frame design as opposed to the unibody of the highlander. the highland is designed to be a family commuter vehicle, and if that commute has some slippery road conditions like snow or ice or rain, then it has all wheel drive to help you keep control of the vehicle so you dont get stuck. the 4runners off road capabilities can also do that, but they are also designed to take a serious beating in extreme off road conditions like the rubicon or baja or really old forestry service roads ect. now, all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive in general is made to deal with all the conditions i just mentioned above, however the all wheel drive system in the highlander may be able to stand up to the extreme stuff for a little while, it would break down in the long run, it is designed for slippery road conditions. where as the 4runner's 4 wheel drive can also deal with just typical slippery commuting conditions, but it is designed to take long term abuse in extreme off road conditions. so in the end, if you took a highlander and a 4runner to the baja 500, the highlander might do ok for a little while, but then it would fall apart. it all just depends what you are using the vehicle for. so please stop comparing the highlanders all wheel drive to the 4runners 4 wheel drive, because yes, there is a massive difference.
The guys an idiot, one buys a highlander for everyone you said daily runs and the soccer game on Saturday mornings. One buys a 4Runner for off reading fun and the ss soccer run lol.
Nice vehicle, clean and simple, I like that the interior dash is not cluttered, seems less intimating that way a little easier to focus on the road. However, sadly it's out of my price range, besides, I drive a lot of miles in a week and I'v really leaning towards the Crosstrek, I know a completely different vehicle then the Highlander I just happen to be in a commenting mood at the moment. Keep up the good work !
Gotta tell the lady that at the platinum level priced over 40K, Toyota need to put HID with AFS (Adaptive Front lighting Systems) and LED tail & 3rd break light!!! Can't hardly imagine they miss that in this 3rd generation re-design.
Hey Dave - I know you had to join her, but i really like when you do the reviews by yourself. Or with the other tall lanky guy. I understand that you had to review it like this though.
zero - this was a press event and representatives are a vital part of the process, especially since we only have a short time with the vehicles. I felt Drue was EXTREMELY helpful and provided tons of great information.
Dave, can you do a one-on-one comparison to the 2014 MDX? You have driven both recently and could comment on which is the better overall, better value, and which would you choose for the money and if price not an issue. Keep up the good!
Wow...this Highlander looks really nice, but is getting a bit pricey. I would probably go with a previous generation Highlander Hybrid in this color scheme ---- black on black looks very classy to me. I concur with everyone else -- Drue from Toyota was obviously into Dave. Way to keep focus, Dave.
2:14, maybe. Dave doesn't get sidetracked by that stuff. If you have been following his chanel, there is a consistent pattern of professionalism and quality delivery. Keep the vides coming Dave.
Dave I really wish you tested out how comfortable you were in the 3rd row position. You normally test that in other 3 row vehicles so not sure why you chose not to do it here. Thnx
I think some of the new Kias actually have a wireless charging base built into their "shelves" for compatible phones. Pity Toyota didn't do that with this one. That would have been awesome.
My dad owns this car. Easily the comfiest car you can get short of an s class. So quiet, and you sit high. Also the exhaust sounds goot for a mom bomb. Infotainment sucks though
They need to stop filming and talking while driving. Too damn dangerous. Will run over a mother with a child talking about button and how he likes the radio. Terrible filming arrangement.
Does she know you're married, Dave? She can't keep her eyes off of your handsomeness /nohomo. This car/truck is an albatross; same with that Infiniti one that looks like a freaking whale on wheels.

She knows her Highlander. Kudos to her.
she is so good on what she does
This new highlander looks friggin' awesome! I'm really liking the sleek bold look on the outside, and that panoramic moonroof.

You finally smartened up to realize you don't need a school bus to drive to the grocery store. Congratulations.
I could see this winning over the Traverse, Enclave, or Acadia
The styling seems much better than the last generation. Looks like an excellent family truckster.
4:28 I love the smile on his face when she sad, "In that way I can put both my 2 big 32 oz.", haha! priceless!!!
Portland looks lovely.
I drove a base LE but it had the optional V6 engine ... omg that suv can haul ass if needed... Toyota did good with this one
Haha @ "I'm 5'2 on a really good morning."
I thought I was the only one who said that.

Time to do the test drive for 2017 Highlanderrrrrrrr.......cant wait to see it~
Great storage vehicle. I'd prefer to hear more about why I should drive it, but maybe that's not the biggest priority here.
According to the specs, the Highlander has more legroom than the Edge, Explorer, Sorento, and Santa Fe among others. The Highlander is finally better looking. I have never liked them in the past because they were so ugly.
They hit a home run on this new one.

I'm just here to watch her smile :)
The look she gave him when he said he thinks 15 inches will fit in there just fine... I know it's juvenile but come on rewatch it's funny...
Brrrrahahahahahahahaha 😂

This is just the first look review, at the end of the video he said he will have a full detailed review. Which, hopefully he will be by himself.
CmanCorporations
Yes, my DETAILED reviews are solo and thank you for watching the entire video before commenting :-)
zero - this was a press event and representatives are a vital part of the process, especially since we only have a short time with the vehicles. I felt Drue was EXTREMELY helpful and provided tons of great information.
Dave, you are a natural with the ladies.
I love the new Highlander. Great review! Thanks! (Btw is pronouncing the "h" in "vehicle" a southern thing? A Georgia pronunciation? :)
All crossovers should be renamed to minivan with swing doors.
Dave do the Kia Sportage on the snow, merci beaucoup
Dave -- I know you're at the Portland Auto Show; however, did Toyota do a press release up there (or in your case, down there)?
Dave, can you do a one-on-one comparison to the 2014 MDX? You have driven both recently and could comment on which is the better overall, better value, and which would you choose for the money and if price not an issue. Keep up the good!
I think Toyota priced this too high. 42,000 and up is too much for a Highlander. How much will the hybrid cost? SMH
Then I guess that's why one would buy the LE trim which starts at $29,000, instead of bitching about a Platinum grade model they can't afford.
The Highlander... In Oregon... Did I miss the off-road part?
girl is beautiful!!! Portland looks as very clean Ukrainian city!
Portland compares to a Ukrainian city same as 1986 ford pinto compares to 2014 Lexus.
Pretty girl and she seems nice. But she don't sound like she's from anywhere in the South to me.
Welcome to 2018; where Portland has become a leftist-antifa paradise, with feces all over the streets!
@@tritchie6272 Yankees continue to invade the south and replace the natives.
Thank you
Great review!
It's disgusting reading some comments here. Grow up people.
Highlander and off roading! HAHAHAHAHAH BEAT JOKE OF THE YEAR!
Hi there
My family is looking for a 7 seater 4wd deisel. Now before u ask i live in australia our price range is around 50-70 aud
Thx
The Pajero is a really good choice.
I am impressed.
That girl is totally flirting with you LOL
2:14, maybe. Dave doesn't get sidetracked by that stuff. If you have been following his chanel, there is a consistent pattern of professionalism and quality delivery. Keep the vides coming Dave.
Dave, you have driven both 2014 Toyota Highlander and Nissan Pathfinder. Which did you like better?
Lee62bt Highlander :-)
Dave I really wish you tested out how comfortable you were in the 3rd row position. You normally test that in other 3 row vehicles so not sure why you chose not to do it here. Thnx
Yeah, me too. I wish I could go back in time 2 1/2 years ago and fix it but I can't.
Everyman Driver Please do if you get your hands on the 2017 Highlander. Thnx.
When he showed the exhaust, was that fuel being spit out?!
I think some of the new Kias actually have a wireless charging base built into their "shelves" for compatible phones. Pity Toyota didn't do that with this one. That would have been awesome.
Dave isn't it supposed to be showing I'm on Portland and it's really white outside
This was recorded on Wednesday this week... so JUST before the snow arrived - Dave
Looks great
I like the reviews!!!!!!!!!!!!awesome
mommy wagon, but better looking than the last gen.
Everyman Driver where were you when you filmed this? I should expect came say hi and maybe sat in the highlander
Tech Defender Near the Oregon Convention Center by Lloyd Center Mall - Dave
When are you going to get it for a week for a review?
Amazing
Which one is better? Toyota Highlander or Hyundai Santa Fe?
Highlander
Very nice 4x4
That wasn't fuel coming out the exhaust. It was water.
she can definitely fit those "2 32oz" cups in there :D
Douche..
Looks like she was really into you Dave ! Hope you were wearing your wedding ring haha !
Dave, would you buy this or a 4Runner limited?
+Steven P I would buy THIS over the 4Runner - Dave, Everyman Driver
how the ride of toyota highlander
very conveniently skipped showing the protruding pointy lights and the space behind the 3rd row up.
U forgot to show 3rd row
You look like Harry Connick Jr.
Dude needs to keep his eyes on the road
WOW.... Toyota really restyle the Highlander.... The old one was so boring.
He kinda looks like Ricky Martin...
24mpg in 2014 is awful.
24mpg is not awful for a vehicle this size. Ford Explorer 24mpg, Chevy Traverse 24mpg, Honda Pilot 25mpg, Nissan Pathfinder 26mpg.
Taking this off-road?
Shawn Bhagwansingh If Toyota sends me one, yes.
That girl is good looking
I like the old highlander better
Is this car fun to drive
She is beautiful.
Get a room!
My dad owns this car. Easily the comfiest car you can get short of an s class. So quiet, and you sit high. Also the exhaust sounds goot for a mom bomb. Infotainment sucks though
Oh and the v6 has more power than the numbers show
does he have any issues w it now?
Not sure why car reviewers have to rev mom-mobiles.
good news, she thinks 4.2 inches is huge!
Do you?
the previous design was better
Don’t get the hybrid
She's glossing a lot over him. She didn't look at the road not once lol hope the wife isn't watching.
She's cute
Outdated 2.7L engine is horrible. Toyota needs to stop putting icing on a TuRD vehicle.
...OK,pretty girl,Platinum package,So Its just a Great vehicle...RIGHT...LoL...
You would think she was a goddess with all these comments....I don’t get it. Very average.
Herpes
They need to stop filming and talking while driving. Too damn dangerous. Will run over a mother with a child talking about button and how he likes the radio. Terrible filming arrangement.
Does she know you're married, Dave? She can't keep her eyes off of your handsomeness /nohomo.
This car/truck is an albatross; same with that Infiniti one that looks like a freaking whale on wheels.
you cracked me up! it's metamorphosis!
Sweet girl..
I LOVE TOYOTA BUT FOR 40K ALONG WITH BUICK DESIGN NOT WHAT I EXPECTED DISSAPOINTED
Too much money for a Toyota.
