Thanks for the very helpful, no nonsense video. I have a large collection mainly from crate digging over the last 50 years. I have several hundred LPs, 45s and 78s waiting to be cleaned. Right now I use a DIY RCM based on the VPI wand.
You and I have the same concern. My technique is to use a cotton makeup square to gently remove the first layer of dirt, then if needed do another wet and clean before vacuuming. I have worried about particles getting caught in the felt. I also have to be very careful to not get the labels wet. I'm thinking the Isonic would address both concerns.
I've looked at cheaper models, but I think this is the best machine for my needs, especially because of the size of my collection. I had thought of going with a VPI or Pro-Ject, but they've gotten to be close to the same price. I'm about to clean the records I bought new over the last 60 years. I've been hesitant because of the concerns listed above. I think the Isonic would give me peace of mind I'm using the best method available.

The Chinese ones on eBay work great. They only clean 6 at a time, but they are workhorses and a whole lot cheaper.

@@spatulacityrecords6263 Amazon just had a sale on the 5 unit model that's not that much more than the nicer Chinese eBay units. I did a lot of checking regarding the cleaner itself and looked at the record attachments. The Isonic record attachment makes the most sense to me. I went ahead and ordered the 5 record unit. I also added the extension unit for $50.00 and the separate 45 unit for $100.00. I still have tons of crate dig records to clean, plus I'm about to start to clean my core collection, the records I bought new starting in 1956. Thanks again for your review.

Thanks for the no-nonsense, no-audionervosa approach. I've used a VPI 16.0 (upgraded to 16.5) since 1982. My collection has been as big as 4,000 and currently around 2,400 but still digging and buying. The VPI is getting long in the tooth so looking to make a change.

Excellent review, right to the point without taking 2 hours like all the other ones on here! I think you convinced me this is the right ultrasonic for me, that 4875 II is around $800 now. So you don't have to do any wiping or additional surfactant removal process after they dry? This sounds like a one-step easy-peasy process which is almost too good to be true!

I have had my iSonic CS6.1-Pro for a month or so. Loving it! I have also been doing tests etc.. still. Question for you. Does it matter if you use distilled water or not. I have used both. My tap water does not leave spots, would you stick with that? Does stilled water aide in the actual cleaning? thanks! Mark

In other words how often do you change it?? Do you filter it and re-use or just dump it and start with fresh distilled water??

It depends. Use a warm Damp soft cloth like a diaper first, circle both ways. If any grit rinse in sink first. Or you can use a steamer (like for clothes) first. Or both. I always wash like this and use spin clean before ultrasound. Also, a little diluted alcohol for grease. A lot of used records have grease on them.
I have found that you need at least an inch between records.
But 10 records often involves enough dirt to require a change.

Hi, great review of the Isonic and interesting comments about the Kirmuss. The Kirmuss uses a Chinese base and Kirmuss own design motor top. Kirmuss' procedure is super cumbersome. He claims they change the internals of the base unit, which from what i have seen they don't, its same frequencies etc. One thing i did notice with the Kirmuss was that if you use it for the total time they recommend with the heater on, some records may have slight edge warpage seemingly caused by the Kitmuss' drive unit. The Kirmuss does not protect the records label. The Isonic i have seen here in Australia also uses a Chinese base, looks like the one you have. The base units are fine, i have the same base unit that Kirmuss uses supplied by the Chinese manufacturer, have cleaned my 12,000 records with it and it still works perfectly. I did change the frequency transducers and circuits to a better range and also made some changes inside the tank, which did reduce the number of records to 8 because it needed more space between the records for my mods, which improve it and take care of the one thing all ultrasonics have probs with, fingerprints. My mod takes away the scrubbing required to get rid of fingerprints and inground dirt. You are right about ultrasonics being the best, as for Kirmuss, well, i agree with you. I have tested mine in original and mod form against the Kirmuss, and in modified form it was way more superior. It even beat out the single record KL and Audio Desk which cost around 5kaud in Australia. The Kirmuss is about 3,500aud here, my beast is hitting market at 1,500aud. Sorry for being so long winded. ............enjoy the music

Have found 80khz to be quieter, not as hot and cleans better, but makes it more expensive. There is also a belief that 80khz is gentler on the record. So far our tests have shown the proprietary cleaning mods do work and give a much better cleaning effect. I will be making it available as a kit to fit 6 and 10 litre tubs as well as the Isonic type units.
