Unglaublich, aber wahr: Die King's Singers werden 50! Und gehen zum Goldenen Jubiläum auf große Tournee. Als sich am 1. Mai 1968 - da waren die Beatles auf dem Höhepunkt ihrer Popularität - sechs Chorstipendiaten des altehrwürdigen King's College in Cambridge zusammentaten, um fortan als Vokalensemble gemeinsam aufzutreten, war natürlich nicht vorauszusehen, welch eine Erfolgsgeschichte das werden sollte. Auch wenn es personelle Veränderungen gab, ist die Besetzung aus zwei Countertenören, einem Tenor, zwei Baritonen und einem Bass bis heute dieselbe, und was noch wichtiger ist: Das Ensemble ist noch immer vom selben Geist beseelt - höchste musikalische Qualität gepaart mit Leidenschaft, Neugier und Entdeckerfreude. Die besten Komponisten weltweit haben für das Ensemble geschrieben, zahlreiche Werke aus mehreren Jahrhunderten Musikgeschichte wurden für die sechs Sänger arrangiert. Das Jubiläumsprogramm bietet einen Ausschnitt aus dem großen Repertoire des Ensembles und scheut auch den Abstecher ins populäre Fach nicht. Britain at its best!

Where have all my late Son’s works gone? Christopher Tambling FRCO started on the Beaulieu Abbey Organ aged 8. His record of being the youngest person to play his own Organ Music in the Albert Hall Organ London to a full House aged just 14 ( 2 days) has never been broken.

I don't know what the turnover is for members of this group, but it seems that 4 of the 6 here are very new.
I saw The King's Singers live here in Japan 3 or 4 years ago, and I only recognise one member for certain. Perhaps it was 4 or 5 years ago.
Non-the-less, these gentlemen are wonderful, thank you.
You may be surprised to know that all but one of the members in this line-up are actually new. The first countertenor, Pat Dunachie, had joined the group only about one and half years ago before this concert. All the other members had been in the group between 4 to 14 years!
Fantastic group always for 50 years. The young countertenor muest be brother of Harry Potter

Die direkte Reaktion mag verhalten wirken, aber das Publikum war definitiv ergriffen und begeistert - kein Wunder bei diesem unfassbar schönen Konzert.
