    Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'd like to know how you solved the GH5 focal issue.

      Hi I didn't have a GH5 focal issue. Are you having one? Update the camera if so

    Do you use Auto White Balance or do you manually set your white balance?

    • @DougDavis
      @DougDavis  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. During productions (not weddings) I customize my white balance because I know the lighting and room won't change. During weddings you move all over the place so I use auto. In a controlled environment I always use a custom white balance by manually setting it.

      Davis Visuals thank you! I’m doing more run and gun filming outdoors and am I’m finding out that manually setting WB is a pain with all the changing light conditions. I tried Auto White balance today and was pretty pleased with the results. I was worried that it would make grading my footage more difficult but it wasn’t as bad as I thought

    • @DougDavis
      @DougDavis  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JavisBoomTech exactly. It's easy to fix a clip here and there that isn't perfect but if it's set to a WB that the exact same and your running around... That's a lot of footage to try to fix. Thanks for the feedback!

    Are these the settings you use to shoot outdoors when the sun is bright? I notice I’m getting to much light exposure, what can I do? Thanks

    • @DougDavis
      @DougDavis  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll need an ND filter to help with too much sunlight.

    Thank you from Russia! Do you add saturation and sharpness in post with this natural and cine d settings?

    • @DougDavis
      @DougDavis  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for viewing from Russia! I don't add any sharpness in post but I do add saturation depending on the clip. I normally want to mess with the Vibrance of the image rather than saturation.

    whats the shutter speed?

    • @DougDavis
      @DougDavis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Double your frame rate. 24 FPS should be 50 shutter (closest shutter to double the frame rate) and if you’re shooting 60fps it should be 125 shutter!

    I get mixed info on the master pedestal setting. Some people say it helps well others says it just introduces more noise well raising the blacks and you don't actually get any more dynamic range. I have mine at 0 currently.
    Also, I leave the extended ISO off! If you shoot at 100, your over exposed highlights will have no roll off and just appear as white blobs. You can test it out your self, match the exposures in ISO 100 & 400. ISO 400 retains the data in the over exposed highlights so much better. Not that you were doing this, looks like you keep it at 200, which is fine but it's good info to pass along.

      JReel Visuals [Live Hip Hop/Rap] great info man! I’d love to see more on this topic I’ll need to look into it. From experience I get a lot of noise when I keep my iso at 100. Not in every situation but if I’m shooting indoors I get noise when grading it. ISO 100 outdoors is perfect or I try to keep around 2-400. On some productions I actually will go up to near 1000 on the GH5 and it looks great.

    I just got the camera when u put the vfr up does the slo mo happen in camera or do I have to do it in post? I would prefer to do it my self in post

    • @DougDavis
      @DougDavis  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The answer is that VFR will make your videos slow mo in camera because it automatically converts it to 24 fps. If you want to slow it in post on your own id recommend shooting in 60fps. With VFR you can shoot much slower motion though depending what what you select, I like the look of 120fps in 1080. Try both and let me know what you think.

      Davis Visuals thanks for the reply I tired it out I see what u mean I also see I gotta get new A new SD card mines can’t handle the variable frame rate at being 80 mbps so when I get a new one I can really test it out

    • @DougDavis

      I use Sandisk 128gb cards. The gold cover ones. Let me know how it works out when you get those. Good luck!

    Loved this! I'm just switching over from a Canon 6D & 70D setup to a gh5. The settings for video are very different with the gh5. What would you recommend I do to get a good idea of all the different gh5 video settings?

    • @DougDavis
      @DougDavis  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First i would say go into a project knowing what your overall goal is. If you specifically want to have slow motion in each shot then set your camera up for 60fps or even do Variable Frame Rate and swap between different slo mo speeds. Test it all but know the basics. 24 fps is realtime, 60 is slow motion, and VFR can give you both.

    • @jefflarsen9249
      @jefflarsen9249 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Davis Visuals sweet! Thanks, yeah I used to do weddings with one camera in 60 and the other at 30. Now I’m down to one camera but super pumped for the 4K 60 and the 1080 180;)

    Is it worth for paying $100 for vlog l gamma for gh5? I use it to shoot wedding videos.

    • @DougDavis
      @DougDavis  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally don't own vlog for my GH5 but honestly $100 isn't much. Depending on what you're shooting it can make all the difference. I have heard that it's a bit harder to expose an image in vlog so when purchasing create some time to practice. That's important. I've wanted to buy it for certain things but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. CinelikeD is flat and great for color grading i believe. Let me know what you end up doing man!

    Do you shoot all of your slow mo at 60fps for music videos? Or do you
    Use 120fps?

    • @DougDavis
      @DougDavis  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on how dramatic you want to be lol. On my channel you'll find a friend of mine jamming on a guitar and I shot a lot of that at 120 fps because I wanted it to be epic. For weddings i shoot at 60 and 98 percent of everything else that i shoot in slow mo is 60.
