  • By “2027” AI assistants will make it 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 easier for 𝘰𝘯𝘦 average developer to learn and apply a wider skillset, 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘺 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 business and data analysis, UX/UI design, architecture, coding in multiple technologies, testing, and market research… with remarkably powerful (and rapidly improving) AI assistants. It’s 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦.
In this LeSS conference keynote - Craig Larman, an expert in large-scale development, and related HR and organizational design (OD) topics - discussed fascinating predictions for AI, HR and OD…
    𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲
1️⃣ The AI revolution will influence people to have 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘺, 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘺, and 𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘳𝘺 specialties, rather than just one.
2️⃣ That will influence HR job titles & responsibilities to be more broad and flexible, such as “product developer”, whose career path is 𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪-𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 over 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦-𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨.
3️⃣ Then HR 𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 will focus more on people that can effectively learn multiple new skills with AI assistants, over doing just one skill.
This influences 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘱 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴: with more people in traditional single-skill groups (“design group”, …) each gradually moving towards 𝘦𝘯𝘥-𝘵𝘰-𝘦𝘯𝘥 plus 𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦-𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵/𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴 (𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨-𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨-𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨-𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬), this influences towards 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥-𝘵𝘰-𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴, which of course threatens existing status-quo groups and manager titles/positions, leading to resistance to change, while some competitor goes all-in on flexible developers + AI, and eats our lunch.
