Traditional Manipuri song is not based on SaReGaMa. That's why it is unique. Although, modern Manipuri songs are based on SaReGaMa, but the folk songs have its own unique way of music theory.

Benita Laishram is singing about Khongjom lal, a decisive battle in Anglo-Manipur war 1891. A small unit of army with few guns and tops fought against huge mighty British army stationed at upper hilltops (Khongjom ,a place in Thoubal district). Khongjom war memorial is preserved today.
It is told that paona Brajabashi cut many bombs before exploding using his sword.
He had life safeguard like Karna's kapach kundal. Seeing defeat he sacrificed his life for mother country.

Specially After watching all the episodes, I really feel bad for the girl who did the opening of the auspicious event probably in the history. And she did in much way better and beyond imagination, And expected. A perfect grand opening she did which mesmerized everyone introducing the beauty and grace of Folks. Both of them (Benita and Nganthoibi) can’t be even compared. Both were unique and incomparable. I wish if we also had a Padmashri on the opening show. And do something out of norms. 😅🙏 What a show. A real Beauty of Diversity.
