I am SO excited to find this video! I learned this hand smocking pattern way back in 1973 and created a beautiful pillow with it...only to lose the pillow many years ago and trying to recall and relearn how I did the pattern! I just couldn't remember, and haven't been able to find a teaching platform to relearn it--until NOW!!
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I would like to ask about smocking from size small to big on a half circle skirt panel, is it possible to sew it smoothly ?
Hi there Eva thanks so much. That sounds like a super idea...I know I made another video once which increases the scale but I haven't done one on a skirt. th-cam.com/video/oMvfCCE_zrs/w-d-xo.html
Hi Lata thanks for watching...here's what I used if you can work it out from there! My original size (using 1 inch squares) was 22 across and 16 down. Then once finished it measured 4 inches across and 15 inches down.
Thank you for the best explanation Would please tell me how many cm. Do I need to have 20 cm. After the I made like you I appreciate if you could help me please 🙏 Fatima
Can you tell me the exact thread you are using to stich your pleats together. I would like to make a similar project on a baby girl dress made with cotton. Thanks.

Hi there usually the honeycomb smocking can shrink to about half the size of your original fabric size. Hope this helps.
